Could someone tell me if that's different
Sh31kh_H0kv528 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ah man, I miss the original SAO that Kirito and that Asuna that made me stuck to the screen like that of glue, that feeling that intense moment that music that whole feeling gone to this imitation of what I thought was going to be nostalgic over what one might call it, nuts now that they portray new characters like what's that is that going to make any difference I get the fact that a reminder was like the best call but then they came up with a movie I was like okay, but then the second part being this one even sucked the more let it go at the original this one's killing me I can't even begin to keep my head straight to enjoy what I once loved to begin with all because of this scherzo or whatever, what a joke.

Mito was not necessary
eldin-7102614 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The inclusion of a new character Mito who steals the spotlight from Kirito and Asuna is really annoying. First of all she wasn't even in the light novels secondly abandoning Asuna at the beginning made me dislike her even more. Compared to the anime where Kirito and Asuna shine in the boss battles she just feels like a third wheel. Since she is a progressive movie only character I hope to never see her again . Asuna has way better female friends for example Yuki and the other girls in the anime. So shoehorning this character did noting for the story. Other than that annoying character the chemistry between Asuna and Kirito is great when they are alone. Also the ending with the it's showtime villain' was a nice teaser since we know what happens in the anime later on.

Sword Art Online....
CinemaSerf9 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Now firstly, come on guys - a snappier title, surely? "Asuna" and her pal "Kirito" are accomplished players in the game and have progressed to level five. It's here that they learn of a plan to drop a game-changing banner into the mix that could could seriously damage the uneasy status quo truce that exists between the two rival clans playing. "Kirito" is a former beta-asset so using his slightly advantageous knowledge, the two must recruit some allies and try to thwart the level 5 boss before he ensures mayhem ensues. The story is simple, straightforward and that helps this along well enough - if maybe a little too one-dimensionally. Some attempts have been made to develop the lead characterisations, and the theme and the animated combat scenes - especially at the end - reminded me a little "Tron" (1982). It's got plenty of action, a few beasties, swordplay and benefits from being tightly directed remaining focussed and decently paced for an hour and an half. Not great, no, but I did quiet enjoy it.

Second only to Mugen Train

I can't write how much I enjoyed this film. I could've watched this movie back to back 3 times and still came back to watch it a fourth time. The animation department must've worked overtime on this one and you could tell. And the MUSIC, the soundtrack in this film is amazing. Electric guitar + violin can only equal greatness. This movie built upon Kirito and Asuna's relationship and Mito's character greatly, and showed some great moments of my personal favorite character Agil. The only complaints I could say about this film is that it was less innovative than the last but otherwise it is better in every category.

So many details
chirilescemanuel11 March 2023
So many details, it's unbelievable. It captures a lot of what a MMORPG stands for and the details for the genre refferences are pure music for an experienced ear.

I won't go any further for a complete review of every aspect of the movie itself, it's not necesarry. Movie will speak for itself. Go watch it!

As I've said at my latest review for Aria of a Starless Night, the movie brings the exact, rather specific energy most of us have had around year 2014 when SAO first hit the worldwide screens. It's that magnetic sensation expressed in you wanting to be part of a realm that has at least one function like SAO, to play a full length MMORPG like it and coexist with other players that are part of the same adventure. It's a sensation not any, if any movie or series, regardless of the screening, will give to you. Virtual reality may not be presented irl as sophisticated and attractive as in SAO, but it may borrow a few characteristics, if smart enought people work on it. Depends on the interest, i guess!

Scherzo of a Dark Dusk was much appreciated, and again: if you know, you know.

9/10. Only reason being a 9 rather than a 10 is because at Aria of a Starless Night I felt, at least I did, more emotion than the upcoming.

All in all, a masterpiece!
