Finally a Drag Competition with a different formula!
kleinhorror7 December 2021
It's big, loud and fabulous! And that's only Trixie Mattels wig!

This Competition is unlike anything you have seen before. It's a beautiful and well round Cast, the Costumes are bigger and better and overall it's just fun. The pacing is quick and not dragged out (see what I did there?) So no boredom comes up! The twist at the end of the first two episodes and also the elimination was a bit of a harder pill to swallow, but I am invested and intruiged to see how it moves forward.

Really quick!
kowas_221 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So I'm loving this show but hating how quickly they get rid of queens. I get budget and episodes that was bought out but still. For 250k prize we should get a 8 episodes not 6! I mean we have 14 queens and by episode 4 we are down to 5! We don't get to really see range or growth. It's like you have to be almost at a winning stage when you come in. Also Ada is way too good. Might as well give her the prize now. Lol.

Queen of the USA, I mean, the Universe!
iamnotluigi19 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was very happy to know that many queens from many countries were participating, and I also know that this happened during a time where travel restrictions were in place, but like half the cast is from the US. It should've been 1 or 2 people from each country. Think Eurovision but gayer.

The twist of the elimination was gagging, but also to be expected. After all, this is drag! But I'm happy to see a different formula for a drag competition.

One thing that I really disliked was how every judge is "so nice". I mean, I'm all here for positivity but we also need to be objective and critic, some of them were REALLY NOT PREPARED (I'm not gonna name any names, Jujubee).

Also, I love Trixie Mattel to bits, but if we are gonna have a musician judge in drag, there were a few more qualified people for the job... Adore, Rosé, Jan, Ella Vadday, Veronica Green, Jinkx Monsoon. I just feel like Trixie doesn't have the vocal range or power to be judging others, but then again, we had similar judges in other competitions that weren't the best singers and were judging others.

Overall it's a great competition. Is it new? Well, yes and no, we had a lot of singing competitions already, but this is the first one with just drag performers. Do I think it will have many seasons? I don't think so. But I do hope this will bring the knowledge of drag to a bigger audience, because drag really is an art form that needs to be celebrated for everything that it represents.

Enjoyable and niceeeee

Warning: Spoilers
The fact that half of the cast is from the United States could have been a problem but, the unexpected thing is that Grag Queen won. She was the moment, she was amaaaaazing. It was time that a queen from an other country have the importance that she has.

Im sooo happy with the result and also, I think that this season was really enjoyable. With memorable queens from a lot of countrys, like India, USA, France and obviously, Brasil.

Just watch it to see something different and enjoy a little moment.

Good show but utterly unfair!
anguzmazon18 December 2021
They call it Queen of the Universe but then half of the cast is American. It's obvious from the get-go that the producers want an American queen to win and that they are gonna be favored in the competition. They really should have only had 1 queen from each country. There are many countries that have good drag singing acts that aren't represented at all.

Stop what you are doing and watch NOW!
kollankolthoff31 December 2021
I have always been somewhat skeptical of singing shows because they follow the same predictable pattern. This show throws all of that into a tailspin introducing the world to a whole new meaning of talent. Drag queens, whether you love or hate them, are definitely having a moment. If it isn't groundbreaking enough, the VOCALS are gifts from god. These contestants represent people from all over the world and they do their home countries proud. RuPaul has another hit series on his hands and the judging panel was spot on. The panel consisted of predictable individuals like Michelle Visage and Trixie Mattel but surprised us with the honest Vanessa Williams and power vocalist Leona Lewis. One of the most interesting aspects was the studio audience picked their favorites throughout the series and the judges got to give one of the bottom 2 or 3 the boot. Exciting, unpredictable, and a fresh take on a tired singing competition structure. This is an absolute must watch and I cannot wait for Season 2!!!!!

Great Concept - Awful Execution
legomovieman-038837 January 2022
Queen of the Universe is probably RuPaul's biggest failure since Drag U. Outside of having two Contenders who could sing being either eliminated or thrown by the way side, outside of it's $250,000 cash prize it never escapes the feeling that you've snuck into some high end karaoke night that makes a mockery of drag instead of empowers it.

If there is a Season 2, there should be some serious thought on the overall structure of the show and it's casting being treated as utterly disposable.

So many talents

Warning: Spoilers
I thought this show amazing. Wonderful performances! Those drag queens are so good! A fantastic judge panel. Unfortunately, too short, only 6 episodes. Ada Vox had the most beautiful voice, but Grag Queen had the whole package, since the very beginning.

A really fun watch!
earlrlyons30 December 2021
This was a totally fun series to watch! All of the talent and production of your regular singing competitions with some really great personalities. That yodeler from Canada made me PROUD! The judges panel is perfect. I didn't think I could love Trixie more than I already did. Can't wait for the next season.

Drag competition with a difference but way too short
lesleym-8395011 April 2022
We loved this new formula with drag contestants having to sing rather than lip sync, there were some amazingly surprising voices with equally amazing costumes and wigs. Our only complaint was that it way way too short at only 6 episodes. Considering that Ru Pauls Drag Race is in excess of 20 .episodes, one gets time to get to know contestants. By episode 2 so many contestants had been eliminated that we hardly recognised any of them in the final. It is difficult to rate contestants on 1 episode alone. Looking forward to a Season 2 but longer please.

Absolutely Fabulous
princesstaboo6 January 2022
Edge of my seat binge-worthy television viewing. A singing competition of true talent with all the spangles any magpie or bowerbird could wish for. Heaven! Fabulous budget and all the colour and movement anyone could desire.

I look forward to Season 2 with glee.

5 USA competitors is unfair!
erincarter25630 April 2022
Don't get me wrong, I loved this show and it was highly entertaining. Had an awesome afternoon with friends binging this.

But 5 queens representing USA while the other countries have one, how is this fair competition. Ru Paul please level out the playing field next time you're looking for the "Queen of the Universe"

Excellent performers

Nice change having drag performers actually sing! Don't agree with the elimination round eliminations, but it was a great season. Hope it comes back for more seasons.

Breath of fresh air 😊🌟
andreparra-643532 January 2022
I just love how the show focus on the talent of the queen's, very respectfully.

I loved watching this season, I am hoping for a longer season 2. It was quite short but I enjoyed every second of it. The judges are perfect and the production is award show level. If I had to say something negative would be that it needs more episodes so we get to know the queen's a bit more. Otherwise it was fantastic in my opinion.

If you love singing competitions and drag race
mcflower9021 March 2023
You will love this show! You do not have to know much about drag queens, you can give it a try even if you never watched drag race. I do not agree it is similar to Eurovision. Every artist represents themselves, not their country. All of them are great singers, but song choice plays a big part here. It is shorter than we would like, but this is not Drag Race. This is a singing conpetition with very talented drag queens as competitors who will blow you away. I do hope second season will have a few more episodes and that is why I am writing a review, to show support for this tv show. I hope we get more shows with drag queens!

Lots of fun!
djdavidandersen13 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I loved it from the beginning until the end! I was not crazy about the choice for winner, although I loved Grag. I just think Ava should have won. The judges were very nice... maybe too nice? I'm still on the fence with that part. It was fun to see performers from other countries, but I still feel the U. S. was a little over represented. All in all, a step up RuPaul production... which says a lot for the drag franchise. Hope to see another season of mega talented queens. Oh, and keep the same judges!

Exceeded all expectations
grindrxtra31 December 2021
What a great show! The songs are great, the queens are very talented and charismatic. You WANT them to do well. The stage is impressive, with a huge digital screen that reminds me of complex K-pop productions.

The finale has one of the most unexpected, powerful and emotional performances I've seen. Loved every second of it, even the performances that didn't go so well.

You brought back the wrong queen
genivieveazure4 August 2022
You should have brought back Chy'enne Valentino in the first season. AND Trixie, are you trying to catch flies in your mouth with it open the entire time?
