Sasha Pieterse will always have fond memories of her days in Rosewood, but there’s one piece of Pretty Little Liars herstory that she’d gladly rewrite if given the chance.
Like many fans of the ABC Family-turned-Freeform drama, Pieterse is still unhappy that her character, iconic reformed bad girl Alison Dilaurentis, wound up getting divorced in the series’ short-lived spinoff. Viewers spent seven seasons ‘shipping Alison and Emily (Shay Mitchell), and their patience was rewarded when the series ended with #Emison in a seemingly happy marriage. So imagine their surprise when the first episode of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists,...

Sasha Pieterse wishes Alison Dilaurentis and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) had gotten a happily ever after. In the Pretty Little Liars spinoff series, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, Alison and Emily get divorced, which was a dagger into the heart of the Emison fandom. In an interview with TV Insider, Pieterse revealed her thoughts about Alison and Emily’s fate. “I was super, super, super, super bummed with that storyline. I’m an Emerson shipper, and I was bummed that that’s the direction that it went in,” Pieterse said. “Again, in my universe, in my world, not only would the divorce not have happened, but I just see them being together and being such a good family. I think because of everything that they had gone through, it would never be that easy to separate. I feel like they have been through so much that they would work through things.

Lucy Hale appeared in Cannes during the film festival last week, living the good life but also helping launch Good Life, a new feature film project from Angel Oak Films.

Few television shows are simultaneously so bonkers and compelling that they inspire ire and enthusiasm from their viewers in equal measure, but the original run of Pretty Little Liars nailed it. From 2010 to 2017, Pll arrived at just the right time for millennials to freak out and theorize online about its mysterious and ridiculous plot points. Much of that joy came from the outlandish tactics of psychological warfare that the villain used against the show’s teenage protagonists – but there were a few moments when A got physical, too.
A quick synopsis: Pll was a soapy young adult thriller in which a group of friends is tormented by a black-hoodied enemy known as “A.” A will go to all kinds of lengths to make the group’s lives uncomfortable by taunting them with anonymous texts, blackmailing them into doing mean crap to each other, and warning them away from getting too...

The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl is one of those movies that’s so bad it’s good, holding a special place in the hearts of 2000s kids despite being trashed by critics at the time. Its comeback story is nothing short of miraculous. Like many masterpieces, it didn’t initially win over audiences, with its disappointing box office performance and a measly 19% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, in the hearts of 2000s kids, it remains forever youthful, a nostalgic treasure trove to revisit childhood memories. Actress Sasha Pieterse, who starred in the film as Marissa, the Ice Princess, recently admitted it’s one movie she’s embarrassed about in her career, for obvious reasons.

Without a place to stay she sleeps in the ruins of her late father’s house, only to encounter hostility from the locals.

“When I was just a little girl I asked my mother, what will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here’s what she said to me: Qué será, será. Whatever will be, will be”
The opening of Michael Lehmann’s Heathers begins with a dreamy cover of a familiar song. Angelic voices ask a mother to predict the future only to be met with an infuriating response: “whatever will be, will be.” Her answer is most likely intended to present a life of limitless possibility, but as the introduction to a film devoid of competent parents, it feels like a noncommittal platitude. Heathers is filled with teenagers looking for guidance only to be let down by one adult after another. Gen Xers and elder millennials may have glamorized the outlandish fashion and creative slang while drooling over a smoking hot killer couple, but the violent film now packs an ominous punch.

Several characters took on the villainous mantle of ‘A’ across Pretty Little Liars’ seven seasons. Some were the true masterminds behind the plans for the Liars’ downfall, while others served as minions on the ‘A’ Team, there to do ‘A’s’ bidding and keep tabs on what the Liars were up to. Not every ‘A’ or member of the ‘A’ Team is equal though, with some being significantly more terrifying than others.

When I previously wrote my review of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, I mentioned that I was optimistic for the series to be renewed for another season, but questioned how the showrunners would be able to introduce a fresh batch of conflicts for our Millwood liars to tackle. After all, “A” had been apprehended! The main characters seemed to have found closure, and the future seemed bright and unobstructed for each of them.
And then came the summer. Summer School, that is.
As expected in any iteration of Pretty Little Liars, a new A has emerged to torment our five final girls who are stuck in Millwood attending summer school; this time in the form of Bloody Rose–a crimson soaked, knife brandishing antagonist that I would argue is much scarier than our season 1 stalker, Archie Waters. As things heat up with Bloody Rose, the summer brings a slew of...

Twenty years ago, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s breakout hit The O.C., about a group of teens coming of age in Newport Beach, premiered on Fox. By the time the 27-episode first season aired its finale in the spring of 2004, the show was the highest-rated drama on TV among adults 18 to 34 and had catapulted its stars — whose characters were affectionately known as the “Core Four” — to massive, near-overnight popularity.
It wouldn’t be the first or last young adult series in the U.S. to generate a cultural frenzy. But the industry ecosystem that birthed and defined zeitgeisty YA shows like it — 22-episode drama series with largely white casts found through in-person auditions — is vanishing. As viewers have increasingly abandoned broadcast and cable TV, the linear networks these shows called home (Fox, The WB, Upn, The CW, MTV and Freeform) have also faced mergers, acquisitions, multiple rebrands or given...

Over its decade-long run and spawning numerous spin-offs, The Walking Dead has secured its place as one of the most successful TV series. Adapted from the comic book by Frank Darabont, the post-apocalyptic horror show delves into the harrowing struggles of survival in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
As the name and the concept of the show suggest, it witnessed the demise of several characters throughout its 11-season journey. These deaths are often portrayed in the most heart-wrenching and brutal manner imaginable, leaving fans devastated.

However, when the decision was made to kill off Merritt Wever’s character, the showrunners were unprepared for the immense backlash that followed from the LGBTQ community. Even the actress herself was taken aback by the audience’s reaction.

Think about it: Can you name a recent series that gives off Dawson’s Creek, The O.C. or even Pretty Little Liars energy? Shows that offer incredible melodrama, characters you simultaneously love/can’t stand and baffling storytelling choices in a high school setting? Not considering the supernatural ones — if only because their scope tends to reach too far beyond high school — we can count this type of all-engrossing youth drama on one hand. The teen soap output from The CW, Freeform (née ABC Family) and MTV has become all but nonexistent.

What’s worse than a serial killer stalking you?
Summer school. At least, that’s what the liars believe in the official trailer for Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.
At the beginning of the freshly released footage, the liars—Bailee Madison (Imogen), Chandler Kinney (Tabby), Zaria (Faran), Malia Pyles (Mouse), Maia Reficco (Noa), and Mallory Bechtel (Kelly) — learn that running away from a serial killer hindered their grades.
As a result, they have to attend summer school to help brighten their prospects.
For the teenagers who want to spend their summer relaxing and having fun, it’s the worst news ever.
Original star Annabeth Gish is returning as Dr. Anne Sullivan, the therapist who helped the original crop of liars through the trauma they endured being stalked by A.
