Warning: Spoilers
I need to admit that I have tried a few times to watch this movie till the end. Let me tell you that I was able to watch just two days of Zeynep on my first try. Anyway I have waited to see the movie till the end to write this comment. Zeynep'in sekiz günü( Eight Days in Zeynep's Life) tells the story of Zeynep. Zeynep is a young woman who lives alone in her flat located in a metropolitan region that looks like a concrete jungle. In the first day of Zeynep, the camera pans slowly across her room and focuses on the alarm clock. It stays there, I don't know how long? Just because of this very detail, you realize you need great patience to bear with the movie if you don't like slow-paced movies. Zeynep(Fadik Sevin Atasoy)lives like But like a single gear in a mechanical clock. She lacks any spontaneity whatsoever. She wakes up,she goes to work (we know nothing about Zeynep's job except that it's a sedentary one)and she comes back home. She has almost no friends and she never goes out. She seems to be used to living in this "colorless" world. One day, some girl from work invites Zeynep to her birthday party. She feels obliged to go there not to offend her. While everyone dances, she just sits at a table all alone. That catches the attention of Ali (Mustafa Üstündağ).He approaches her to chat up.In spite of all the double-edged,artificial flattery she gets sexually attracted to her. After the party they go to her apartment and they have sex. Ali,in a way, colorizes Zeynep's black and white world. She wakes in the morning and finds misspelt note letting her know that he took fifty liras from her purse to pay for taxi and he would come back the next evening. The next evening, Zeynep prepares a romantic dinner but Ali never shows up and things get really worse for Zeynep.

I understand that Cemal San tried to treat "loneliness" in a cinematic way but the character he creates is incoherent and inconsistent.I guess the only thing Zeynep says about herself is that she who has no living relatives. The movie does not tell more than either. In spite of utter desolation Zeynep says she was contended with the world she created before Ali but we never sense she was any happier at the beginning. Throughout the whole movie she looks impassive and deadpan in expression, behavior,or style.Besides, Zeynep looks more like a severely autistic or a retarded person than a loner. To tell about loneliness you need more than that.In that way, Zeynep and all the other dysfunctional characters add up to a real bore and you just wonder why there is not any normal decent fellow in this movie.

After eight days the movie ends the way it starts and learn barely anything else about Zeynep. If you do not like pokey movies in which there is not any interesting dialog, where the soundtracks are not accurately timed and the camera focuses on little details way too long this movie is absolutely not for you!
