ABSOLUTE ADDICTIVE TV
Her-Excellency19 January 2023
One of my FAVORITE game shows - EVER!!!

SO addictive, in fact, that I had to look for more, and BINGE-watched (at the expense of being late for work the following morning), not ONLY the U. S. version, but the UK and Australian versions. It is SO good, that if I understood or spoke Danish, or if it had subtitles (and I knew where to stream it), I would immediately watch the original as well.

I was about to add that if you enjoy game shows, this is a DO NOT MISS show, BUT that statement falls short in describing what this series actually is.

This is not only a series where players compete for money. It's a whodunnit, a thriller, a mystery, a drama, a comedy ... it is excellent and addictive television.

I Usually Hate Reality Competition Shows-Not This One
manuel_belle20 January 2023
I turned it on because I love Alan Cummings. Gold right there.

But no, once it gets going, it was pure awesome. I binged it so fast. I wanted more. I rarely review things on here, but this one I want to help get the ratings/reviews/averages and get it out there. This show was so good.

There were times it was a bit too scripted; perhaps people were laying it on a bit thick. But overall, I loved every minute. I wanna be on this show, ha!

The settings, the challenges; I was yelling at the TV like a Boomer, just so into it. Drawn in from start to finish. I was never bored, I loved and hated who I was supposed to, and loved the direction of the show.

I can't wait for season 2.

Why do people confuse the persons actual personality with that of a traitor?
mccabe-shannon14 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So, I've never been a huge fan or watched of the reality competition shows. I've seen maybe a couple episodes of some of them over the last what 25 years. I don't watch much reality tv in general with the exception of below deck (so Kate was the only one I really knew before watching). I decided to give it a shot and watched the entire thing with a few hour break for sleep. Some of the production was a bit much but that's to be expected.

I think it'd be interesting if we didn't know who the traitors were so the audience could watch clues and guess as well. When I know everything seems a tad more obvious.

There was a few surprises I didn't see coming, including in the last episode After the first episode when I knew who the traitors were I guess who would be the last traitor standing.

I liked the challenges, they were all pretty creative. The challenges were supposed to help them get to know each other and get clues into who the traitors are. The issue with this is that they all benefit from doing well on the challenges and banking more money. People thought Kate was the traitor because she threw a challenge, that means nothing. Traitor isn't about the persons actual personality. Everyone benefits from doing well so how does that help show who the traitors are. Like hey they were really good on team work so they aren't?! Please explain this to me.

I would change things about it but it's still entertaining.

Absolutely Love It.... any survivor fan would... similar but not a RIP as some are saying.
bee42816 January 2023
I do have to say I was very skeptical about this show from the beginning , I wasn't sure if I would like it but after the second episode I started to really enjoy it . The characters started to grow on me and kept me captivated and wanting more .

Some are saying a Survivor Rip Off , but I don't feel that way. Honestly it has similarities to Survivor (and I ask , what is so wrong with that?) but has a brilliant original twist on a very successful reality game show that I have loved from day one . Im a huge Survivor fan and after 20+ years I don't believe anyone has ever come closer to the quality reality game show. I think they have a good start to a show who could achieve the same success and long time viewers , I hope it will last.

I haven't seen the original Australian or UK show yet , but I do want to see them now .

If you are a Survivor fan please give this a try , I don't believe you will be disappointed at all.

Best Game Show Since Survivor
DarkRavenRose1 February 2023
Im not one to binge watch shows especially not game shows but god damn! I watched all 10 episodes in less then 2 days.

First of all, I came for Alan Cumming's fabulous wardrobe and later stayed for the amazing tense and mystery show feel. The show is great at keeping the competitors guessing because there are several creative ways for players to be eliminated and you get to relish in the chaos. The show is about being good at manipulation and deception. No one can be trusted yet they have to work together to increase the prize pool. The castle and surrounding estate was a beautiful backdrop. I hope they will have a season 2.

Very addictive...pleasantly surprised
tikitim-4709227 January 2023
So I binge watched the entire season in about 3 days. I didn't know if I would like it at first and I really didn't know many of the reality stars except a few from Bravo shows. However, I must say once I started it and got familiar with the rules of the game and how it worked it was very engaging and I could not stop watching. I think I watched four or five episodes in one sitting. I do agree with some of the other viewers that it would have been a little bit more intriguing had the traitors not actually been identified to the audience because it would have kept us guessing more. But on the other hand it was interesting hearing their reasoning and strategic moves for who they would pick off one by one. I definitely would watch another season and I hope it gets picked up. I wasn't bored at all and it was interesting seeing the different personalities and cliques that formed. Definitely worth a watch in my opinion.

Great game/show - horrible casting!
madelyn-6746131 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really really like this game/concept but the casting was absolutely atrocious. The faithfuls throughout the game "completely trusted" other contestants. Why would you trust anyone? And then at the end Arie basically waived a big red flag alerting the remaining faithfuls to Sirie being a traitor and they still "completely trusted" Sirie. They looked soooooo criminally stupid and most of the contestants did the whole time too so I can't just blame those last two. I think most of the contestants were people that believe in participation trophies. I couldn't even tell if they really wanted to win. It would be much more entertaining to have savvy people that understand the game and simple math on the percentage of trainers in the room. I think Sirie, maybe 1-2 more, were the only people who really even understood the game. And Reza leaving at the beginning was a huge loss in the entertainment department. He would have been smart enough to kill it too. Anyways, I will watch again next season and hope for better casting.

The UK version is far better than the US
tracella26 January 2024
After really enjoying the UK version which has an IMBD rating of 8.8, I thought I would have a look at the US version. I was extremely disappointed to see that the US players were previous reality stars. Ugh...

The UK version, and I think tha Australian version are just average people. Sooooo much better. In season 1 of the US version, I got sick of some of the players. Some like Kate, were lazy. Typical US, very loud and false.

Seriously guys, watch the UK version for a wild ride. Our season 2 finale is tonight, and I am on the edge of my seat. Looking forward to watching th Ozzy version soon - all available on BBC iPlayer.

Wasn't sure
paulcroft31 May 2023
I saw a promo for The Traitors but wasn't sure what to expect, but I wasn't disappointed. I binged this one in less than two days and I can't wait for season two!

It's hard to review this without giving too much away. The characters in this season were excellent. You had villains all over the place that looked like traitors even though they weren't. You had traitors who were ruthless in the game and played an excellent part. This show came down to the final minutes of the final episode and it was an excellent ending.

The challenges they took part in were very "survivoresque " and some were a little lame. But still enjoyable.

Ok but...
lgrosser5823 January 2024
USA: First season was great and it was interesting to see how the actual winner got all the way to the end. Challenges were good. There is no need to put "celebrities" into the cast! It makes it much less appealing and the cliques formed were according to what shows they were on. But, Alan Cummings is awesome as the host and tooo funny! Please choose regular contestants.

The UK and Australia Traitors were much better! Love the concept and it's interesting to watch the journey unfold! I think it could have been moved along better and scenes cut as they got repetitive. The praise purse for both of these countries was less than the USA yet the contestants tried harder to win. Cmon USA!

Who knew Alan had such an outrageous accent??!
babyjudy-0752025 January 2023
Having met him in irl, imagine my surprise when I heard his "real" accent. Scottish? Who knew? No matter, it's still a pretty good show. Really. Watch it cuz it's alan...

Supposedly there's lots of OTHER celebrities too. But I never heard of em. None other with any of Alan's charisma. Might as well call it the "Alan Show".

Then, there's some reality show stuff...

So if you wanted to scroll social media, but you're just too exhausted to swipe, simply click this show on your streaming, cuz it can't be the worst choice.

(Omg. Make it stop. You should really just get outdoors and put an end to this downward media spiral...)

So 72 more characters to describe this monstrosity. It's all made up, folks. BOTH THEIR REALITY AND YOURS.

But there's Alan Cummings...

The traitors US
MovieJunkie526 January 2023
I accidentally watched the first episode and it reminded me so much of the board game The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow (it's literally the game in a TV show format) and it gave me such a nostalgic feeling and happy memories of playing with my family I just had to watch it.

It was okay, some of the things didn't make much sense but it still gets you hyped and anxious to see the plot twists and how the contestants (I would prefer just regular non-celebrities) are thinking. I do have to say I found it odd that it had such a lower score compared to the UK version and having watched just 1 episode of the The Traitors UK I understand why. If you're curious, being the same format it can still be a very different show.

It's still worth it and if you don't know might as well check out the board game too :)

Watch the UK version
mike-prince30 July 2023
Such a fantastic concept for a game show. Usually I avoid reality TV like the plague. Vapid, toxic and self-obsessed types hungry for their five minuted. However, having loved the UK version I had to give this a go. Unfortunately by episode 3 the show has given itself away as being somewhat set-up, i.e 'the note'. This didn't sit right with me and then subsequent events became somewhat predictable. Additionally including existing reality stars felt forced for the sake of drama. This is a show reflecting the complexities of trust and manipulation. It did not require egotists shouting over each other for the sake of entertainment. Moreover, two particular contests know each other which immedietly creates bias. A real shame.

Miss opportunity for dramatics
georgieab17 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ok so the show wasn't spectacular but it wasn't horrible either. I wanted to waste time, we'll time is wasted but I also don't morn it's loss. It was fun to watch - keep in mind I did other stuff during it including reading; yes a real book.

The main thing I was hoping for that I feel was an opportunity missed, was that there was touting it as a murder mystery, the host was so dramatic and theatrical and they were in a castle! The murders could have been played up! Every one is woken the next morning to a maid screaming, they all go to the room and there is a dead body! They could be at breakfast and someone dies of poison. Everyone looks out the window and they watch as someone is murdered! And contests could be built around them like find the murder weapon, find the killers, etc. It would have added a but of fun to the theatrics and made it different from run of the mill reality show. Which it was, just called things murder and such. Famous death scenes could have been reenacted.

The location was also a reception hall for things like weddings, use that! Make a deal with someone to have their wedding there for free on a specific day and the contestants interact with guests or maybe act as wait staff.

SO MANY opportunities were missed. And it could be spun in a way to not make it creepy or possibly dangerous like buried alive. And OMG the round table took so long! I guess the point of it all was to let people watch others argue a lot.

I hope some one does read this and it gets added to make the show more fun and interesting - just acknowledge the anonymous review.

Traitor or faithful
d_penn24 February 2023
If you like the tv series "the mole" then this 13 episode about drama, mystery, thriller, deception, deceitful ness is screaming your name. You throw some of the flamboyant, outstanding, outrageous Alan Cumming as the ringleader it turns out to be an amazing tv series on the streaming service peacock. Just as you think you have all the answers in the bag, things get shaken up while your still trying to Figure what just happen out as well as what's going to happen next. As you think friends are being made it's honestly enemies being born. I highly recommend this mysterious series because it'll keep you on your toes.

OMG it's addicting
shoretalk9 February 2023
I was not sure what I was getting into but I love the game of clue and I love mysteries. I have read the other comments. So now I'm very curious about the British and other versions, but the implication from the reviews are that those versions are even better! I'm going to be binge watching for a long time.

Cummings is great and the setting is awesome. As with any "game show" viewers have to realize that the contestants are tempting to win a game. So critiques of personalities really are not applicable. However, I am almost halfway through and I've been very impressed with the selection of contestants. The mystery and the intrigue and the ease with which you can identify or root for the contestants makes this truly a special game show.

****SEASON 2 UPDATE .... I really HATE the "reality stars" who are Season Two's contestants!!! They know each other from their fake reality worlds and it takes away from the show. Cummings is still great and the show addictive but it would be so much better without the feathers, fake eyelashes, and resumes of the stars.

I've seen them all and this is the BEST!
cjlutz-1678627 January 2024
I've watched every reality show. Every competition show and this show beats them all!! The fact that this last episode had me laughing hysterically at grown adults squaking and running around like birds to me screaming that they are idiots that they don't see who the traitors are. I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode and that's a hard thing to come by in this day and age of tv where EVERYTHING has been done before 10 out of 10! I'll just say if your looking for a new show to watch this is it.........And you can't Beat Alan's dramatics with THE MURDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;

I don't like Survivor but LOVE Traitors!
chrisaga-4364716 July 2023
I typically hate overly dramatic reality tv shows but this one hooked me. I love the murder mystery type vibe in a Scottish castle. I loved the show Whodunnit, which was canceled, so was thrilled this was released.

The drama was intense for me and I typically avoid this type of show but the setting and vibe of this show played right to my love of British murder mysteries and castles.

This show really messes with you though! People form friendships and waiting to see who will be loyal and who will be cutthroat playing the game has me on the edge of my seat. It is fascinating to watch how people play each other.

I'm gonna need at least 5 seasons of Traitors!

Reality TV meet Who Done It Games
kmmonical24 February 2023
Edit: I recommend watching in order based on release - as these were all released within 30-90 days of one another.

1 Australia 2 UK 3 USA I also ranked the above in order of my personal ranking. It was no surprise that my ranking also coincides with the order of release. If you watched all 3, it may be quite obvious as to why.

Original: IMHO, if you're a fan of reality TV; specifically The Mole (OG version) and games like The Resistance, One Night as a werewolf, Spyfall, The Coup or Among Us (to name only a few), you'll enjoy this show. I'll only say that being a traitor, you need a strong back bone and end goal, it's a game. It's entertaining.

This is an updated version of Clue and personally, I didn't hate it. I could be biased bc I'm a gamer, I enjoy reality TV and GenX, so I enjoy ANY games, whether it's virtual or in person; PC, card, you name it-I've most likely played it, at least once.

Could there be other twists, rules or keep some ambiguity for the audience? Sure. It is season 1 of a decent concept. It's a reality show with reality celebrities and everyday folks. I look forward to what season 2 May bring.

So-so
kenbo-8736026 January 2024
I've been a huge fan of The Traitors since it first aired on British television just over a year ago.

I've watched a few countries rendition of this and I'm finding the American versions the least entertaining. There are 'famous reality show' contestants in it who people outside of America have never heard of. Most of them shouting over each over, trying to get their voice heard, and hoping for as much air time as they can get. It all feels elaborately staged, hammed up, and extremely fake. They even try and con the viewer into us believing they actually sleep at the castle. They don't, they are sent to a B&B each night!

It's worth a watch if you're fan. It's my least favourite out of all the countries I've have watched (UK, NZ, AUS and Canada).

Dissapointing finale
emilylucia7 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
S1 Quentin and Andie dissapoint me. Everyone knew there were three traitors from the beginning. And that one was subsequently recruited.

The contestants banished two. Arie reveled he was recruited during the finale, making it obvious there is still one more amongst them. However, Andie and Quentin let this small but crucial part of information just float around.

It was handed to them but the faithfuls failed to see finding the last traitor was a 50% decision.

Winning 250k was a coin flip. Cirie played a wonderful game, she deceived everyone and use their trust on them to make them blind to simple logic to 4 traitors -3 =1 traitor remaining. Brilliant.

It's ok
ucc-0173514 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A "reality show" where group of 20 work together while 1 or more are traitors. At first we are lead to believe this kind of a who done it type show. But it isn't.

It's an ok show. It's not really a gripping show, because they reveal who the traitors are in the first show. It would've been much better if the viewers didn't know who the traitors were. This way viewers would be guessing who is bad, & who dies.

It's ok to watch though, to have something on while playing board games, reading, or back ground noise.

Majority of the "celebrities" I did not know.

This show had much potential to be a 9 or 10 out of 10.

Rubbish! Watch the original UK Traitors
sebastianmichie3 January 2024
I may be biased as I'm from the UK but this version of The Traitors is rubbish. It's the exact same as the UK series with the same location, missions, and the presenter Alan Cunningham is to over the top! The casting is disgusting! Why put celebrities on this series? In my favourite one the UK version of the Traitors there aren't celebrities, none of the cast know each other, not to mention the UK cast are extremely likeable and has much more personality than this cast from the US. I do not know why people are rating this so highly! Go watch the UK TRAITORS OR AUSTRALIA TRAITORS! Do not recommend.

Feelings rather than using an Objective approach.
rdoell-0126820 April 2023
Great game played by really foolish people. To think you can FEEL who is the traitor from the beginning is simple. Not one of them suggested using a Systematic approach to find the Traitors. I liked the games they had to play to gain money but I think the money was too little for too great of effort. Christian was making stupid comments from the beginning and Cody made unnecessary mistakes that exposed himself to the Faithfuls. Stephs Dogged approach and Kate was the same that their feelings were so correct and they were 99% certain when there was nothing to make anyone certain of anything from the beginning right through to the end. Steph always so sure and wrong several times as was Kate. Kate regardless of her status was a terrible player whining and undermining the other Faithfuls and the Game. Kate really spoiled the atmosphere of the game. Even if the Producers had used Social Scientists Psychologists they would not have been able to determine the Traitors using these contestants approach of feeling who were the Traitors. No expert could have determined one from another which is why someone should have suggested a systematic approach. Also some of the people almost destroyed the game with their dumb comments and Open comments exposing them. POSSIBLY the Producers might Consider PAYING All the contestants depending on the length in the game because so many were bothered and Upset when some people were forced from the game and they are loveable or Vulnerable. Cody's emotional Consideration of those he betrayed may have led him to make stupid comments exposing himself and making the game less interesting. I LOVED the LASER Crime Scene but again the values was less than I would have wished to see.
