The graffiti artist
jotix10017 March 2010
Warning: Spoilers
A young graffiti artist, Carlos Espinosa, was found dead in an alley where evidently he was painting the wall with his tag. Carlos died when someone poured paint down his throat. When his mother comes to the Cold Case team to ask for help, she was a desperate woman who saw her son die and wants justice. The detectives start the investigation right away.

In flashbacks we are taken to a billboard where Carlos was doing his "art work". He was accompanied by a younger kid, Leon, who was his constant companion. The only problem is that Leon was not as bold as the man he was trying to emulate. Carlos gets into a lot of trouble with a rival artist, Tut, who roughed up his opponent and warned him to get out of his territory. When Leon dies, Carlos, who gave his young friend his own tag, begins painting over the work of Tut, something that put him at odds with a powerful enemy that will stop at nothing to protect his own territory.

Directed by Janice Cooke-Leonard, the episode explored the world where inner city kids are drawn into making a name for themselves by engaging in graffiti painting, defacing whatever surface they decided to leave their work for everyone to see. The cast and guests did a good job under Ms Cooke-Leonard's guidance.
