I must admit, I have older taste and appreciate the classics we all know well such as Godfather and so on.

I won't go through the plot. I will say it was a joy to see new faces in Joe McGee's depiction of a mafia film. Mario Carneiro and Danny Fainman played great don's leading their respected families. Amato is from NYC and Martone is from RI. There are many reasons to praise this indie film's work but for me it was the story that made this original film work so great.

The acting is superb. The three stars manage to create characters that are completely fleshed out.

However, this is the Mafia for the new generation and it still appeals to me.

Instead of painting houses like, "Irishman," -- you hit em' with shovels. I do like the cynical comedy shown along with an actual plot and story. The twist and subtle clue's on the rats was a delight to see in a new generation film.

It also had elements to me as a modern day Soprano's but this was very original and the blues/jazz music was complimentary to the actor's slick lines shown in the film.

Great acting, very good cinematography shown in this film. I do feel the movie is a bit short with a running time under 1 hour. It did come together well within the 1 hour but i was hoping it could have been a bit longer not Titanic long but at least 20 more minutes. I was not disappointed in the run time though, as the running time does not stop or take a nap it is an indication that the film is attractive and holds the attention.

The movie was artistic, and paints an interesting vignette about mob life.

The opening intro is one of the best intro's I've seen with funny one liners. You don't see such a bold opening in mafia films.

In closing, it's a stunning story that molds together seamlessly with modern day plot. Remember one name, Tony Martone. This is a mob movie unlike any other. Featuring an array of top-notch many unknown performances but they had their shinning moment in this film.

This is a true modern gangster drama masterpiece with 8/10 rating for me.

Superb acting but...

Being state side many years ago now living across the pond, I would have loved to see more of the city of East Providence, RI in the film. I've lived here many years ago but it would have been nice to see more of the streets to get more of a crime feel and city appeal.

The acting was superb, just wish to have seen more of East Providence locations in the film.

Tony Martone or The Tony Soprano?

Tony Martone has all the ingredients for a great crime film. It's got hits, bad language, violence, gambling, corrupt cops, all of the main ingridenets for a mob film.

Furthermore, it's got a great soundtrack, with blues music...but somehow, it's missing one ingredient, maybe its picking Tony Martone as the name, but it felt very Soprano feeling to me. The picking of title character name felt like a copy of Tony Soprano. I wonder why they selected Tony Martone for the title and character?

I'm not sure if it was just me but I felt like Tony Martone was trying to be like Tony Soprano. Don't get me wrong the plot and story has nothing to do with each other, i felt that Tony Martone was trying to out due Tony Soprano in terms of being that respected guy, a guy you don't touch. In some sense Tony Soprano as a series had much more comedy in it. Maybe in my mind I was comparing them against each other.

Is this a mob flick? A comedy? A drama? A satire? Who knows?

Still, at least the movie manages to stay interesting for most of it's runtime.

I have to assume the reviews so far were from cast and crew from this movie.

This is a master class in bad editing and even worse acting.

I don't think I have ever seen anything so bad. You have to watch it, or at least some of it, to get the full effect of just how bad a movie can be.

Absolutely atrocious

God awful, actual Guantanamo Bay torture, sitting through this.

First and most obvious the audio is terrible. Dialogue is almost loud to the point where it sounds like static. The acting is atrocious and it's mostly a bunch of dudes doing a poor Joe Pesci impression where it's absolutely all vulgarity and no grace to carry that vulgarity. Virtually no character development, the plot (if there even is one) is thematically and structurally bankrupt. And it's boring. VERY boring. I get the impression that the first draft of the script was done and there were virtually no revisions, and the writer/director told himself "Yep, this is great".

Very Unrealistic.

Absolutely amazing film!!!!! Definitely watch this, you will not be disappointed! 👏👏👏 This movie was great from beginning to end!

Spare your suffering do not watch this

I attempted to watch this movie, but after only 10 minutes, it became unbearable. To provide an honest review, I had to endure the agony of watching the entire film. I persevered and watched the entire disastrous movie. The acting was terrible, the script was horrendous, and I even hesitate to even call it a script- and it seemed as if it had been written by a kindergartner. When I was 15, I made movies with a Super 8 camera that were more captivating than this amateur attempt. I am certain that all the positive reviews came from people involved in this disaster or their relatives. Despite a member of the acting crew being a friend of mine, I felt the need to write this review to be truthful and accurate. My advice to everyone involved in this disaster is not to quit your day job because clearly, movie-making is not your forte.

awesome movie

Awesome movie the cast did exellent and it was directed very well by a joe mcgee i enjoyed this film it was really good great job to the cast and crew and everyone helped make this masterpiece and also rip to joes dad he did the music for the film which theres a tribute to that at the very end .....

Loved the movie. It's got suspense, it's got twists and turns, it's got humor, it's got it all. Scenery is very authentic, great locations. An amazing cast, with true star quality. Great music that fits the movie well. Love the storyline. Bought the movie so I could watch it again and again.

Indie film in East Providence!!

Loved the plot being in east providence, what a great story and acting among all actors. I don't normally watch indie films but was recommended by Amazon prime. Highly recommend watching it if you like violence and a mafia conflict story. I came to favor Ray Amato as the villain but I bet most will like Tony Martone. Look for some surprises in the film as well.

Tony Martone excels

I found Tony Martone to be a modern day mafia saga executed very well with nice appealing locations in this film. I like how it blends modern with older styles when it comes to delivering news by means of newspaper, such clever incorporations of old and new.

You know in ancient Persia, the kings would kill a messenger who brought them news they didn't like. In modern times a sword in the chest might seem a little extreme. But if you look at history the great men and women of the world have always been defined by their enemies.

Ray Amato is the enemy here who invaded Tony Martone's docks, with conflict and importance of invading his space. This movie has bite, bark, violence and more important a story that is watchable and believable.

An impressive mob movie with laughs

An impressive mob movie

It's a gangster film with its share of violence but it's also a heartfelt drama moments in the film. I watched it now for the second time and each time like it even more. Not quite Godfather scale epic-ness nor the explosive attitude of Scarface.

In this film it describes the ins and outs of mafia life, and does so from a very interesting perspective. I did enjoy the way Tony Martone gets a message to the Amato family. It was clever writing, The script was so sharp in places, with some great injections of humor. I particularly loved the scenes where Amato was asking about the dock worker and the underboss was describing trying to use a swordfish to cause a freak accident.

As well as all of the above the overall plot is great, very gripping and interesting. I'm not the biggest fan of gangster type movies. They tend to be full of cliché and stereotype in my opinion and rely on graphic content for entertainment and therefore are often thin of depth. But this was one of the better films with an actual plot. This one reaches down inside and really makes you feel, and it really makes you think. A true mobster classic of all times.

It's a well done movie about the mafia with drama, action and humor! One of the best mafia movies I've ever seen in a long long time! Joe McGee's direction was awesome.

I loved the setting, the cinematography and editing are outstanding and never take away from the atmosphere. The realism the film has is always absorbing, the subplots that form the story are intriguing and the characters are adeptly drawn. Fueled by rage Ray Amato invades Tony Martone in a cat - mouse style of film. I don't think that the film is at all a "perfect" film. An 9 out of 10 may seem high, but if you're familiar with my reviews, you'll know that it's not that high of a score from me it's closer to average from me. There are plenty of flaws here, and I'm going to spend some time pointing them out, particularly since the film receives so many 10's.

Enjoyed watching this movie. It was a refreshing change from other movies of its kind. The acting was great and on point! Joseph McGee done an amazing job directing this movie! Will definitely watch again and recommend to others! I f I had to pick one scene that was my favorite (which is hard to do considering I loved the whole movie), I would have to say the ending was the best! I love when movies of this caliber have a happy ending! I would definitely recommend this film to my family and friends, that love a good crime drama movie! It definitely deserves a 10/10 rating in my opinion. Happy watching!
