I actually really liked this episode

I don't know why it's only a 7.6, or why the other review says it's a 5, but for me, this episode is actually among the best they made. Maybe it's because afghanistan is so overused on this type of shows, but that's exactly why I liked it. They took this concept of a mission in afghanistan or whatever that most crime shows end up having, and they made it their own, this isn't really the good against the bad, as much as it is the good in the bad, and the bad in the good. I really liked it, but that's my opinion.

In Afghanistan
claudio_carvalho14 January 2024
Emily and Gillian are organizing the Christmas party of The Lightman Group. Out of the blue, Mrs. Lennox from the US Government tells Cal that the president has assigned him to go to Afghanistan to interview a Taliban prisoner that insists to tell that he is American. Further, he might know the location of two American POW. Cal travels to Afghanistan but lies to Emily saying that he will go to Florida. He interviews the prisoner, Franko James Vincent, and he learns that he was left behind by the US Government. Meanwhile, his chief Ed Komisky arrives at The Lightman Group and wants to see his interrogation online.

"Secret Santa" is a different episode of "Lie to Me", with Cal Lightman finding the truth about a Taliban prisoner. The plot is entertaining, but the poor Franko's situation is strange and maybe common in USA. But his redemption in the end is top-notch. My vote is eight.

Good episode - not one of the best though

Warning: Spoilers
The premise of this episode is that Dr Lightman has to travel to Afghanistan to help interrogate a suspect and rescue 2 US Marines.

It's Christmas time and his daughter has a new beau, but there are only token glances at this storyline where they have done it better in the past.

It feels like they shot it is sections, i.e between holidays then glued it together.

It's OK but the addition of the military factor, bunker and kit rings a little untrue. Given that the good Dr has served his weapons handling is chronic and the ending weak.

Probably a departure in the wrong direction

As such is it my lowest rated episode to date

Snow Job
casparmilquetoast26 September 2023
As this episode happens at Christmas time, it seems that it would be quite cold (not likely T·shirt weather that some soldiers were wearing) and there would be snow on the ground in Afghanistan at that time of the year.

Must be due to global warming I suppose...

(need to meet the required character quota to submit so)

During the holiday season, Lightman goes to Afghanistan to assist in a mission to rescue two captured marines, and his only source of intelligence is an American expatriate.
