  • Despite this being a colorful Christmas movie about a puppy, it features some very depressing and mean-spirited moments that children and adults alike will find very intense.
  • Extremely horrifying and traumatizing to young viewers.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The orphanage is run by a VERY cruel woman who treats the girls horribly. She is a character who will prove very upsetting to children and adults. She steals their toys, makes them sleep in the dark cellar over night when they misbehave. At one point, she takes Paws (turned back into a toy dog) and throws him in the furnace. Thankfully he's saved just in time.
  • Santa Claus falls ill and the children are sad at the prospect of him dying. (He doesn't).
