• Bella : [in Moon Pool]  I know a coach is supposed to be tough, but the way that she was talking to Will was just mean.

  Cleo : So what did you do?

  Bella : Well, I wanted to see how long she could hold her breath, but I didn't, I just walked away.

  [shakes her head] 

  Bella : I don't know how he puts up with her.

  Cleo : You did the right thing, then.

  Rikki : [smiling]  Not necessarily.

  Cleo : Hang on, you were the one telling Bella to stay away from Will in the first place.

  Rikki : That was before he found out she was a mermaid. Now the best way to keep that secret is to make sure you're right there beside him. So... I say, follow your instincts.

  Bella : What instincts?

  Rikki : The ones that are telling you to get close to him.

  Bella : But they're not. They're just telling me that Sophie shouldn't work him so hard.

  Cleo : Are you sure...?

  Bella : He doesn't see us as a thing, and neither do I.

  Rikki : Then get close to him to save him from the Devil Coach. Whatever! We need to keep an eye on him.

• Cleo : [in Moon Pool, sad Bella]  What's happened?

  Bella : I told Will to stay away from me.

  Rikki : [as Cleo glances at her]  I said to follow your instincts. If they're telling you you don't wanna be around him, then...

  [shakes her head, and Bella looks away] 

  Cleo : But that's not what they're telling you, are they?

  Bella : You guys were right, I... I really like him.

  Rikki : Then why tell him to back off?

  Bella : Because

  [shrugs] 

  Bella : he doesn't like me. I mean, he likes me, but not 'me' me. He... he likes the mermaid, the one that he can swim with.

  Cleo : [nods]  Then you did the right thing.

  Bella : No, he knows my secret! I mean, I'm sure he won't tell anyone, but how do we know?

  Rikki : [shakes her head]  I guess we won't.

  Bella : [closes her eyes]  I made such a mess.

  Cleo : Welcome to the club. We've all told someone our secret, and we've all worried about whether it was the right thing to do.

  [shakes her head] 

  Rikki : [shakes her head]  Comes with being a mermaid. The important thing to remember though, is that... No matter how rotten we may feel, a mermaid always has a way of making herself feel better.

  Bella : Swimming?

  [smiles] 

  Rikki : [much later, the trio returns from retail therapy, laden with shopping bags]  Oh, well, enough shopping, I think we've just about earned ourselves a juice!
