Again, way too much going on in all of the season 4 episodes except the first. Here we have the return of the Godfather Matchmakers, the never ending 'will or won't he' with Joel hiding his girlfriend, all the strip club goings and comings, Susie's chaotic office the sort of gangsters who seem like stooges. There's a lot of motion here, but not much progress except for a new and very well-done mother daughter body switch due to hypnosis.
Rose on stage as Midge, doing Midge's act and revealing all the Midge has noticed to the rest of the family and, on top of that, allowing Midge to see the effect her jokes have on the ones she loves, was a huge piece of well done theater. Brava to all!
Stay till the end of this one. The last scene's a killer.

I guess we deserve it.
"The name of their place is in their language. Which loosely translates as "Make Laugh Showing Teeth". Specifically Zagreb. I think that's the capital."
In the 60s we had a theater that turned up electricity once a week? Really?
"Smallpox, tetanus and diphtheria shots are necessary", because apparently we are some dump no American can find on the map anyway because you can't afford education.
Nobody's surprised by American idea of the world any more, haha.
Great show. Love it.

The writing this season is top notch and Alex Borstein owns the day. Rachel Brosnahan is great. Tony Shalhoub is a genius. And Marin Hinkle steals the spot light in this episode. But Alex Borstein is in a league all herself. Laugh out loud brilliant.

Show is still decent but they do the same story line over and over and it's starting to ruin the show. She gets a great gig, she goes to far and ruins a relationship. They need to move on from that.

I rarely leave reviews, but this season has been getting worse and worse. I'm sick of watching Midge get opportunities and then throw herself under the bus! And what is the deal with so many side characters- with exception of the match maker mafia, I could care less about any of their stories. I have to assume that they have run out of ways to write Midge into new failures and so they use the side people as empty fillers. I'm actually starting to WANT her to fail as self sabotaging, annoying and entitled as she is!

This show has never been quite my thing
but on my daughter's advice I began watching. I like to finish what I've started to I kept on. Then I got to season four. And with each episode I have found myself more confused as to what this show considers itself. Is it an odd kind of nostalgia? Comedy that often has few if any laughs? Family drama but with a nudie show sideline? Then we get to the Jackie episode and I was never so appalled. The comments about Pat Nixen were beyond crude. This show has gone over the top in its attempts to be something different and I have lost all interest in the not so marvelous Midge Maisel. I have absolutely no interest in another season.
