Let's be honest
gmatt17115 December 2023
Let's be honest... I'm a late middle-age guy, and Ana is stunning to watch. She could be making pancakes and I'd spend $25 to watch it. She is warm and captivating and appears honest in her performance. Captain America is on point and fits the Bill as the farmer better than you would think. He's a much better actor than most of us think he is . Just go all the way back to sunshine directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting , Slumdog millionaire, etc, ) where he did very well over 15 years ago. Check it out if your fan of thriller horror from a phenomenal English Director.

This flick is good fluff, mostly family friendly, and a decent way to spend part of an evening. Its not grounded in anything remotely realistic ... but the leads are charming.

It's fun and stupid, exactly what you're expecting
mazbutt-1604121 April 2023
Ghosted, starring Ana de Armas and Chris Evans is pretty much what you think it is. Nothing more, nothing less. It's basic, fun, silly and over the top

I was pleasantly surprised that it started pretty quick and kept up a good pace throughout the movie. The two leads have great chemistry and scenes don't feel too forced for the most part which is good.

This kind of story is so recycled it could probably save climate change by now. Nonetheless, it kinda works no matter how absurd and cliche it is.

I feel like everyone should know what they're getting into with this movie so just take it for what it is and you'll find it entertaining enough.

Overall, 6/10 - It's cliche and doesn't try to be anything else. Action is decent enough with over the top scenes sprinkled throughout. And Ana and Chris bounce off each other well enough for people to have a bit of mindless fun with this movie.

Ghosted's comedic moments bring some good laughs, and its action entertains, but its indecisive tone gets distracting. Still, a decent entertaining spy comedy.
Paragon24021 April 2023
Ghosted wrestles with its tone as it decides whether it's a goofy rom-com or a more serious spy thriller. While very much in the vein of Knight and Day or The Killers, Ghosted doesn't stay committed to comedy throughout. The jokes come and go, with Chris Evans taking most of the comedy side and Ana de Armas taking most of the action. The tone might be conflicted, but the fun never stops. Solid action sequences, car chases, exotic locations, and elegant gowns and suits - Ghosted has all the essential elements of a classic spy film. The jokes land better than The Gray Man's quips, and the action is better than Red Notice's set pieces giving Ghosted a slight edge over its streaming adventure competition. It's a flawed movie for certain, with an out-of-place soundtrack and identity crisis, but what it does well makes it interesting enough for a watch and possibly even a sequel. ...maybe.

7/10 Not bad at all. Sometimes critics are way off.
Hellooo123432122 April 2023
I personally enjoyed this movie and would give it a 7 out of 10. While I don't agree with some of the negative reviews by critics, I acknowledge that everyone has different tastes in movies. For me, I found the story good and the chemistry between Chris Evans and Anna de Armas was ok. However, I do think that Chris Evans's chemistry and comedy with Jenny Slate in the 2017 movie 'Gifted' was much better. Anna de Armas' acting impressed me, she did a great job playing a spy in this movie and although Chris Evans didn't play a superhero or spy in this movie this wasn't his best performance, he did do just ok. Additionally, I appreciated that the movie wasn't too long and the change of scenes in different countries was impressive. However, I do think the trailer gives away too much, so it's best to avoid it. While the story didn't keep me guessing, I still found it engaging and worth watching. Overall, I would recommend this movie, especially if you're a fan of action, adventure, comedy, and a bit of romance. Catch it on Apple TV+!

Great mystery setup, but quickly turns into generic action
zeki-421 April 2023
Captain Needy finally meets his dream girl, sleeps with her, but then he gets ghosted.

It's all fine and dandy up until this point. The chemistry between the two leads, Chris Evans and Ana De Armas, who always steals every scene she is in, is fantastic and minor characters like Needy's brutally honest sister, add spark to what could have been a great mystery thriller.

Needy then becomes Captain Stalker when he decides to follow Dream Girl's trail all the way to London after having left dozen of unanswered messages, like only a loser/very romantic guy (take your pick) would do.

Quickly, like the screenwriter just gave up and handed the whole thing to a stuntmovie coordinator, the whole affair then turns into an action spectacle where everyone wants the content in a suitcase. How original.

There's a great action setpiece involving a bus, but whenever I see movies where women throw around men who are three times their own weight and size and in life threatening situations are either cracking jokes or discussing with their fellow in arms, I just zone out and wonder if I am watching one of those gamevideo walkthroughs set on God mode.

This could have, and should have, been so much better.

It's a fun movie.
Amar2722 March 2024
I don't really understand all the hate this movie gets. It's not bad,but after seeing all the 1 and 2 stars reviews i think it ridiculous.

This movie is a classic Romance Action-Comedy with a good cast, and a good performance from Chris Evans,Ana De Armas and Adrien Brody. This movie is a fun way to spend 2 hours and It is not a movie that you will regret watching. The script is a little basic, sure, but as I have said the movie a typical romance action-comedy with 2 attractive actors,so I didn't expect something wonderfully written and you shouldn't too.

My final conclusion is that this a decent movie worth watching and I think you should give it a watch.

7/10.

It's...just awful.
benjaminskylerhill21 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yet another straight-to-streaming action-comedy-thriller with shoddy action, few laughs, and no thrills.

There is not a single original bone in this movie's body. Every plot point, every character, every set piece is lifted from another movie and watered down till there's no distinct flavor.

The entire film is really just Knight and Day (2010) but infinitely worse, with stale fights and pedestrian humor.

The star-studded A-list cast is left floundering, and they're unable to bring nothing special to their characters. It takes a special kind of incompetent to get bland performances out of these acclaimed actors.

The most egregious thing that annoyed me was the music. Whoever this music supervisor was needs to lose their job and be banished from the industry, because EVERY single placement of licensed music was baffling and dissonant with its respective scene.

Everyone involved in this movie's production needs to be slapped with a fine and given a sentence of community service, for so shamelessly making content as soulless and derivative as this.

The only reason this gets a 2 and not a 1 is because there was one extended celebrity cameo scene that made me laugh and was legitimately clever.

So much potential in being a fun rom com action film but falls flat with its story and direction.
cruise0122 April 2023
3 out of 5 stars.

Ghosted is a fair action romantic comedy film that has two outstanding actors Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. Which both are promising in leading a romanric comedy film with a bit of action. Like action rom com films like True Lies, Knight and Day and Mr. And Mrs. Smith. The film does have some exciting action sequences. That will entertain action fans. The film also has several cameos from actors that will surprise you in here which are a lot of fun. Also surprising to see a few Marvel actors in here. The rest of the film does lack the humor that it tries for. The story is also flat thin and forgettable.

Overall, it is an okay film which action sequences are entertaining and seeing Ana de Armas playing as an awesome agent and Chris Evans playing a softie kind of guy was fun. Just it could have been so much more.

Honestly What the Heck?
FreakingMovieFanatic23 April 2023
No disrespect to the two leads, but fire your agents or stay away from bad film choices.

6 writers and that's the absolute best they could come up with?! The dialogue was brutal, the cameos were wasted, the action scenes were boring, and ok I will stop now.

Chris Evans go back to Captain America. Ana De Armas we need to figure out what to do with you.

This was one of the worst AppleTV original movies thus far. I cannot possibly recommend this mess. Nothing was good really. It wasn't funny, despite trying to be, nor was it exciting despite trying to be.

Stay clear of this atrocity. It's the worst.

A bisexuals dream...
TMC83621 April 2023
I don't watch trailers so the plot was a surprise to me. I expected a cute rom-com because someone noticed all the chemistry and sexual tension between Chris and Ana in previous films. They are HOT together! And maybe that's what you get for about 20 mins of the film. The rest is a non stop action/comedy spy movie. And then there's a good portion of the film where it's just completely and ridiculously unreal and just nods to the actors' past work. It was like someone said, "let's try to break the world record for cameos done by former coworkers". Some of it was funny, some of it was just so stupid.

All in all in no awards will be won for this film and it will soon be forgotten, but does it's job of keeping us interested and entertained for a couple hours.

Why
nahtmlin7 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There was no need for the film. The only way it got publicity was because of the famous cast. Tbh I only watched it be a I saw Ryan Reynolds deep into the cast list.

Why was Chris Evans so whiny ?!? I understand he was a farmer but there is no need.

I can't saw that the conventions itself were bad. And the behind the scenes crew did a good job. But.... The narrative was absolute garbage. Absolutely a waste of time to watch. When I got to see Ryan half his face was covered! He was there for about as long as bullet train - but at least that was a good film. This wasn't. Don't bother watching it. Go watch a better film instead- like Paddington. 👍

Great Fun!
kathi-2223626 April 2023
All these 1s and 2s are ridiculous. I gave it an 8 rating just to bring the average up, because I'd hate for anyone to miss out on the fun due to the poor average rating. This movie was just fun, silly, and over the top action. I think a lot of people take movie watching way too seriously. But sometimes you just want to watch something that doesn't challenge your mind in any way, but just provides relaxation and fun.

I had no expectations of a great film, just the hope of entertainment, and that's exactly what I got. The cast was perfect, the story was formulaic but fun, and the whole thing was like an amusement park ride.

The cast makes it better
AfricanBro23 April 2023
Feels like a low budget indie production, can an action movie be indie? It reminds of of Chris evans own first directing job "Before We Go" which was homage of the before trilogy as well. These two characters meet and you follow them and eavesdrop on their conversations, of course not as with as much acuity or romance as the before trilogy, this was more action and comedy.

Action sequences were pretty fun, not always logical, one of those movies were the bullets somehow dodge main characters. Explosions were really fake, but they were everywhere. They just spent a huge budget on Chris Evans and ana de armas, and the countless cameos; which were great but forgot about the special effects. The actors look like they had fun making it though. The car scenes sucked, must have been using green screen.

The second half of the movie kinda runs out of steam; despite it's flaws I found it pretty enjoyable until the last half hour or so when it started to feel like a drag. The movie could've shorter especially since it wasn't bringing anything new to the spy genre, it was almost formulaic fit the most part. First it was Netflix's attempt at making its own Bourne like franchise with the grayman, and this seems to be appletv's attempt, not as good. It's not as bad as I feared after seeing reviews trashing it, pretty tolerable and fun while being crappy at the same time.

Apple should stick to electronics.
Top_Dawg_Critic21 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yet another Apple original film flop, where they throw tons of money to an all star cast into a movie that felt like it was written and directed by a fifth grade drama class. Think of Spy Kids, but the kids are adults, and the story is unwatchable and cringeworthy. I've seen better Lifetime murder-mystery TV movies with no name actors.

It took three writers to create a bunch of nonsense that's been done tons of times before, and all much better. It's frustratingly badly written - hollow, generic, lazy, and contrived. Even the attempts at humor will create more eye-rolls than laughs. I'm shocked how these normally-talented writers came up with such garbage. Even the cheesy dialogue started to become unbearable.

Evans and de Armas have zero chemistry throughout the entire film. It all felt fake and forced. I'm a fan of both actors, but de Armas was annoying in this mess. Everything from her demeanor, accent and acting was unconvincing. I'm sure most of the blame falls to bad cast directing. Even Adrien Brody as the villain was laughably unbelievable, and his French-ish accent was cringeworthy and fake. I'm not sure if his character was supposed to come across as funny, but it was all eye-rolls when you hear his dialogue.

To make matters worse, the ridiculously long 116 minutes - even with mostly decent pacing, was riddled with plot and technical issues, full of eye-candy filler with very little substance, and the little substance it did have, was all cliched and generic. It literally is unwatchable nonsense you'll struggle to sit through its entire runtime. Do yourself a favor, even if you're a fan of any of the A-list cast, ghost this boring action-comedy-romance-adventure film. It's a generous 4/10 from me, all for pity to the all star cast, and the decent production value - or tax write-off for Apple.

Unfunny, make light of serious issues and leads have zero chemistry
LetThemEatHay22 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
We made it half way through and had to give up. Male lead character was delusional, a creep and a stalker played off as cute, with enabling parents who encourage his awful behavior. Stalking someone, putting a tracker on someone after one date isn't cute. It's not a "grand romantic gesture" as he says in the movie. Tracking someone via a tracking device to another country after they stop replying is so creepy. It's not ok to spam someone when they stop responding. Whomever wrote the terrible script has boundary issues. The acting was stiff. The action scenes were bad. The only saving grace was the special cameos, those were fun.

A gender blended version of Knight And Day
lisafordeay23 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ghosted is a 2023 action romantic comedy starring Chris Evans(Captain America),Ana De Armas(Blonde),Tate Donovan(Hercules) and Amy Sedaris(Maid in Manhattan). Directed by Dexter Fletcher(Bohemian Rhapsody,Eddie The Eagle),the plot follows a young man named Cole Tucker(Evans) who isn't lucky when it comes to love. Things take a turn when a young woman named Sadie Rhodes(De Armas) comes into his life looking at his flower stall and the two start to hit off. However when Sadie suddenly ghosts Cole,he decides to track her down in London as a surprise. But when he does track her down, he discovers that Sadie is actually a CIA agent looking for the taxman(Tim Blake Nelson).

Now Cole is stuck in a mission with Sadie to defeat the rest of the bad guys. Overall I actually liked it. The only gripe however I had with this film is Ana's wig. I knew it was a wig as it was too big for her head, too flat and didnt look natural. Its like the hair stylist was too lazy to do Ana's hair and found the wig at a costume store.

The story however has been done in the past with Knight And Day which starred Tom Cruise in the CIA role (Ana De Armas in Ghosted) and Cameron Diaz as the woman who is roped in mission with her soon to be lover(Chris Evans as Cameron Diaz's part). If you liked Knight and Day then you'll like this.

Keep your eyes peeled for Ryan Reynolds, Sebastian Stan,Anthony Mackle, Adrian Brody and John Cho who make surprise cameos.

I've seen worse films than this.

If you've ever wanted to see Michael Bay direct a Hallmark Movie, then this is the movie for you
andyjay2154 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
If you've ever wanted to see Michael Bay direct a Hallmark Movie, then this is the movie for you.

Fun to see Chris Pratt be the damsel; Ana is great as per usual. Acting between the main duo is top notch and fun. Even do a decent job protraying the problems of modern dating.

But at the end of the day, it has the feel of a Hallmark romance. And that has a ceiling of achievable excellence. But I didn't HATE watching it like I would if I were watching Hallmarks Christmas in july.

Tons of cameos; most of them fun and enjoyable

Also lol at the geographic anachronisms. Director left "fast travel" setting on.

I wanted to like this movie as a fun stupid movie.... but wow was it bad
russwrpiujfjuhj23 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I can only assume that years of green screen acting for super hero movies has completely sapped Chris Evens' acting abilities because especially the first 60% of the movie is just the most atrocious excuse for acting. Ana de Armas didn't exactly give an Oscar performance here herself, but she ends up carrying Chris' phoned in yelling and screaming. I think he yells 80% of his lines, it's like a bad kids TV show.

The writing is just atrocious. Chris is playing an odd parody of the lamest beta-male who is simultaneously jacked & good looking while also having most of the abilities of an alpha male, but at all times is too afraid to properly use any of them.

The writers had so few clues as to how to write a strong and smart character for Ana de Armas to play and instead had to rely on making Chris' character as pathetic as possible. In doing so, any of the comedy they were seeking was overrun by the cringe factor.

WOW.... wasn't expecting this good ... honestly
rehmankhilji23 April 2023
Let me get straight to the point Ana de Armas, wow, she was just wow in this action flick. The last action scene of the movie, too beautifully choreographed.

Ana de Armas, she is cute, loved his in the bond movie and then she has certainly taken up the next step.

Yes, you will find many critics about this and that, what and who, but all in all the movie was entertaining and this is what movies are suppose to be. A complete entertaining and fun to watch. I can pinpoint 100 problems from the movie, from the bazar shown of Mingora, dont know the connection there form Khyber Pass, the detailing of bazar, but the movie poster and stuff in a scene was not a bad detailing.

Chris Evans, well the usually good.

Love the guest appearances of the movie by the bounty hunters. Hilarious.

Enough......go watch it.

Painfully Contrived RomCom with Zero Chemistry Between the Love Interests
eabra4846323 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Ghosted" is a brutally tedious film that wastes two star actors in roles that don't fit them from the start, then hands them a script that exacerbates the problem. I could probably watch Ana de Armis do just about anything; however, in this mess she is lost, and trying to turn her into a high-brow international fighting spy doesn't change a thing. There is zero chemistry between the leads and the filmmakers seem to know this, because they constantly have supporting characters vocalizing about how Armas and her co-star, Chris Evans, need to "get a room." This happens so often, it's like they're trying to convince the audience vocally instead of through actual chemistry that come off the screen. After about the fourth time, you start to feel sorry for everyone involved in this mess. The reality is the two of them aren't even believable as brother and sister, let alone anything more. The two of them don't even belong in the same room together. Their lines are recited like they're just reading them themselves for the first time. Even the little fights between them, that are supposed to establish romantic tension, are forced and a little silly. The espionage portion of the story adds nothing but typical dreck of a device that can destroy the eastern seaboard and blah, blah, blah....who cares? The whole thing is executed so poorly, the audience surely doesn't.

Light Hearted Fun
shsistrunk-948-4453948 January 2024
Crazy, silly and outrageous! This movie is certainly not to be taken seriously at all, and it was not meant to be. It's just a comedy action movie meant to be absurd but with some cool effects and mindless fun.

If you're looking for a Mission Impossible script and screenplay quality, then find something else to look at. If you want something to make you laugh, and just to enjoy something outrageous and foolhardy, this is a fairly good movie to watch.

The actors do a fairly good job considering the silly characters that they are playing. Some of these reviews, that are extremely critical of the acting and the movie overall, are just missing the point. It's just for fun!

Huge disappointment
kalinass23 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am not even sure where to begin with.. I like Chris Evans and think he is a good actor, at least in most of his movies. However here, in this particular one, things are disastrous not just with him, but with everything.

The movie itself - bad cinematography, bad script, bad acting from pretty much everyone. The idea of the movie is ok, we have seen it before of course, but Chris Evans is just not the right one for this role. His acting was hidious and absurd. Ana de Armas is gourgeous and pretty, but still average.

The constant music throughout the movie was just awful and unnecessary.

Someone in another review compared this movie to Knight and Day. Excuse me? Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz? Their talents and class in this hilarious comedy with (as usual) amazing performances from both of them, compared to Ghosted? Never in a million years. So yeah, skip this one if you cherish your time.

Thoroughly entertaining
musiqliblessed21 April 2023
Absolutely absurd and fun!

Evans and de Armas back together again. Love their chemistry and fun seeing their dynamic as romantic interests after their work together in Knives Out.

It's predictable and that's okay. It's meant to be. It's a joy ride. They took a fun concept that's been done many times over and did it their way, like True Lies and Knight and Day. The gave it their own spin and it was fun.

What if your date ghosted you...but it's actually because she's a spy? Love it.

The cameos were utterly, intentionally and hilariously ridiculous. I loved all of it. Some major bonds were made in the MCU. 'Cap' will forever be Evans' legacy. We know that, they all know that, and they played with this. Super fun. Reminds everyone-performers and audiences-not to take Hollywood TOO seriously. The entertainment world's mission is still to entertain. Actors are meant to play varying roles, light and dark, fun and serious.

This time, it was a fun time. I had fun.

I enjoyed watching Evans play an asthmatic former wrestler who had to yield to the expertise of his female counterpart with all the special skills. Refreshing watching him play the Fella In Distress.

The action was fun, thrilling and ridiculous. The comedy delivered. I'll definitely rewatch.

And I'll stop now because I've said "fun" enough times.

Pleasantly enjoyable...
paul_haakonsen29 April 2023
Well, it turns out that the 2023 action comedy "Ghosted" was actually a rather enjoyable movie. And I found it to be 116 minutes well spent on watching it, as I was genuinely entertained by director Dexter Fletcher.

The storyline in "Ghosted", as written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, was good and entertaining. Sure, it can be said that it was a fairly straight forward, if not actually generic, storyline for an action comedy of this type. But I've always enjoyed these types of action comedies, and "Ghosted" was definitely in the high end of the scale.

It also helped that they had a great cast ensemble for the movie. And it was really refreshing to see Chris Evans (playing Cole Turner) in a role such as this, and he did it excellently. He starred opposite Ana de Armas whom also put on a great performance and was well-cast for the role of Sadie Rhodes. And having Adrien Brody cast for the role of Leveque, the main villain, was a good choice, because it was such a pleasure to watch him on the screen. There are also a lot of great smaller appearances throughout the course of movie, with the likes of Anthony Mackie, John Cho, Sebastian Stan, Tim Blake Nelson and Ryan Reynolds. So you are certainly in very capable hands.

Visually then "Ghosted" is also good and impressive. The special effects look great and add a lot of dynamic action and adrenaline to the fast-paced scenes.

If you enjoy action comedies, then "Ghosted" is well-worth watching. I was genuinely entertained from start to end.

My rating of director Dexter Fletcher's 2023 movie "Ghosted" lands on a seven out of ten stars.

Dumb
lazy-scribble7 May 2023
An Apple Original which opens with someone using Apple Car Play. Product placement at its worst. And then it goes downhill.

Handsome guy meets girl and they have a first date which seems to consist mostly of kissing in front of Washington DC landmarks. Handsome guy visits his parents and talks about girl. Handsome guy texts girl (wonder what phone he's got) but gets no response. Handsome guy with not much effort discovers that girl is in London (coz Apple loves London). Handsome guy flies to London which gives the movie a chance to show off a couple of other landmarks. Guy gets taxi. Taxi driver talks like he's come straight out of a Dickens novel. Taxi drops handsome guy off in front of a Pizza Express (coz Apple loves Pizza Express, see also Slow Horses). Guy walks around Tower Bridge for a bit. Bad guys appear. You can tell they're bad guys coz they don't have much hair. Heroes have hair. And, as it's 2023, beards. Hair and beards equal nice. Anyway, handsome guy gets tied up, but never mind coz all the bad guys get shot, and we don't need to care whether the bad guys have families or not, coz bad guys aren't born, they arrive fully formed with designer jackets, guns and advanced stages of hair loss. So we don't need to worry about them. Handsome guy escapes, slides down a mountain, gets on a bus, gets into a fight...

And then I turned it off. I had to. I felt like my IQ was being sucked out of me.
