Dull "torture porn" snoozer
Woodyanders14 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
A vicious psycho abducts a pretty young lady hitchhiker so he can torment and torture the poor lass in the basement of his remote home located somewhere deep in the New Jersey woods. Writer/director/editor/cinematographer Bill Zebub thoroughly bungles any possible impact or suspense this cookie cutter premise might have had by allowing the sluggish pace to crawl along at a snail's clip, failing to flesh out the characters in any way, and tossing in a really dumb surprise twist in the last third which ultimately culminates in an especially pathetic downbeat ending. Worse yet, there's no tension to speak of and the movie crucially lacks the essential in-your-face raw'n'graphic sleaziness it needs to truly work. The wafer thin script reads like a dreary catalog of tried'n'true "shocking" atrocities: the bound gal squirms and whimpers a lot with a ball gag in her mouth, the sicko sticks her feet with needles, he makes her eat out of a pan while on all fours like a dog, the woman gets anally violated with a bottle, and by the time this creep finally rapes the chick you'll be long past the point of caring. The extremely annoying and overbearing monotonous score, the fairly sharp, yet static cinematography, and the lackluster acting add additional abject insult to already appalling injury. But what totally negates the effectiveness of this picture is Zelub's hopelessly flat and uninspired execution of the narrative; he doesn't bring a single iota of style or pizazz to the plot at all, thus ensuring that the whole thing quickly degenerates into outright tedium early on and remains a painfully draggy and drawn-out chore to sit through. A cruddy and instantly forgettable clunker.

Somewhere in New Jersey....
slardea-110 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
BREAKING HER WILL gives us one of your more deviant rape fantasies crossed with a mad psycho kidnapping plot and female crucifixion.. It's the kind of scenario that Ray Dennis Steckler was doing in the 80s and 90s. A female hitchhiker is kidnapped by Beer Gut, a sweaty psycho who chains her up in his cellar and spends an interminable hour or so of your time putting her through initiation rites to become his slave. He even calls in a willing female(!) assistant to help get the poor lass raped, bound, gagged, tortured, humiliated, ad naseum, ad infinitum.

The dull fact is that while the list of perversions presented herein goes on and on... there is no passion or artistry of any kind in the presentation. An obvious one-take wonder, the movie plays like a Japanese pinku movie but set in the director's dingy basement somewhere in New Jersey. The noxious dialog is either blubbering or blabbering, with Beer Gut spouting unintelligible invectives played in eye rolling fashion by a non-entity. BREAKING HER WILL would have been more entertaining as a hardcore porno, which it threatens to become at times, but the result is sub-porno. The entertainment value is fairly easy to measure when we're dealing with so many negatives.

Intense and Compelling

This masterpiece excels on many levels. The viewer is immediately affected viscerally. The tension is so high that I almost had to turn it off. What surprised me was that, unlike other movies that spend most of ACT 1 introducing you to the characters, the director claims that you don't have to know anything about a person who is getting hurt in order to feel sympathy for him/her.

Details of all characters unfold in subtle ways, and if you are too programmed by mainstream movies NOT to think, then you will miss the genius. I don't want to give any of these points away because it's so easy to spoil the twists, and there are MANY.

The music is also an impressive tool. There's a song that would otherwise seem romantic, with words "And when the winter is done you will be back in my arms" and "100 miles aren't so far away." - but in the mind of a stalker, that's not romantic, it's scary.

Brian Gleitz gives a superb performance as the villain - a villain whose pain can make you feel sympathetic for him even though he does some terrible things. I've watched this repeatedly. No wonder so many horror mags are praising this movie! It's not for idiots who can't read the synopsis.

Steamy BDSM romance movie

Warning: Spoilers
At first I thought this was just going to be another plain old torture porn movie, but boy I was wrong! The movie actually had a story that made me want to keep watching right up till the end. A guy kidnaps a hitchhiker and trains her to be a slave for the white slave trade. During her training she isn't very resistant and it almost plays out as being romantic, particularly in the scene she is being fed oatmeal from her kidnappers fingers.

As the movie progresses and she is allowed to speak we find out this is indeed the case and she will do anything to stay with her trainer rather than being sold on. By this point I have tears in my eyes at how sweet this movie is playing out to be and I hoping the end will see them getting married and living happily ever after.

The next part sees another girl being kidnapped and trained to be a slave. The first girls seems almost jealous as she is forced to watch her master raping another girl, and in an unfortunate twist he kills her while raping her. He then goes on to kill his slave after making love to he in bed, and finally he hangs himself.

It is an amazing tale of a kidnapper and rapist with an apparent heart and soul in the end.

Since the kidnapper is sort of portrayed as being 'not right in the head', it makes me wonder if this organisation really exists or if its just something he made up.
