Support comedy movies, please
FeastMode17 August 2023
I saw Strays at an early fan screening and there were a total of 10 people in my auditorium. This is the reason we barely see comedy movies any more, let alone R-rated ones that don't hold back.

Strays is fun and funny from beginning to end. The hit rate on the comedic attempts is high. Most of it made me laugh out loud. The rest made me at least smile. Comedy is subjective, and I personally love this type of crass comedy.

The casting is on point. I enjoyed all of the voice acting. But the one casting choice that I adored was Will Forte. I realized how much I miss him after rewatching MacGruber recently. He's absolutely perfect for the role.

For a relatively silly movie and concept, it does a surprisingly good job of getting you emotionally invested, even if you're not a dog person. After the movie I couldn't wait to see my cats.

The best use of Miley Cyrus's Wrecking Ball.
chand-suhas4 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Reggie is an innocent Border Terrier, completely loyal to his owner Doug, who doesn't love the way Reggie loves him. Reggie is mistreated everyday and after several attempts to get rid of him, Doug finally succeeds. New to being a stray, Reggie struggles to accept he has been abandoned but makes 3 very good friends during his stint as a stray. As he realizes Doug's mistreatment, he vows to take revenge by biting Doug's Dick off and the pack of 4 get on this mission, as achieving justice to every single dog that has been mistreated. Will they succeed in their revenge mission is something to watch out for.

It's a thorough entertainer and the Uber talented voice cast - Will Ferrell for Reggie, Jamie Foxx for Bug, Isla Fisher for Maggie and Randall Park for Hunter, make this one a solid watch. They don't take much time to establish Reggie's story and how bad Doug is to him. Quickly we get into Reggie's life as a stray and hilarious scenes which stand out are placed one after the other. If one loves dogs then it's an instant connection to the story narrated here, be it Reggie or even Bug's. Everything is exaggerated for laughs and once again, it's the voice cast who made those lines even better.

Definitely recommend it.

A Hilarious Talking Dog Comedy with an Underlying Metaphor
Zac_La_Porte17 August 2023
Similar to how Sausage Party and Ted appear as family movies but end up being extremely raunchy and coarse comedies, Strays takes the child-like concept of talking dogs and loads it up with sex jokes, drugs and constant swearing. What's really surprising about the film, however, is that it also features a metaphor for abusive relationships and leaving them, and it's a movie that tries to show that it has heart in a few emotional scenes. But the fact that it comes through the perspective of our furry friends makes it work just right.

After being abandoned by his cruel owner, a naive dog teams up with other strays who agree to join him in exacting revenge on his former owner. The film includes a wonderful cast in which the leading group of dogs are voiced by Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Isla Fisher and Randall Park, with Will Forte playing the dog-hating antagonist. These dogs are adorable, although their mouths could use exorcisms, and their mouths are synced to their dialogue pretty well. The voice actors and Forte all pull off their characters perfectly.

You can say that many comedies centring on friendship group, with this case focusing on a team of dogs, have all built a formula that they can choose to follow or to abandon. Strays unfortunately alines up with this formula to include a fight and separation between the main characters towards the third act, and it's super bothering to spend time on after you've seen it all before. Aside from the fact that it's just another fairly average popcorn comedy that you see once and forget, there's no other issues in this film other than some poor CGI work. The jokes are extremely frequent and always deliver chuckles, the few emotional scenes don't completely take the comedic aspect away, and it's a very entertaining comedy worth seeing. But remember, talking dogs doesn't mean a light family comedy you can take your kids to see... maybe if you're crazy.

Hilarious!
ethanbresnett19 August 2023
Strays might not necessarily be the most refined comedy out there, but it sure is funny.

It is essentially a road trip movie but with dogs instead of people, as Will Ferrell's Reggie teams up with three other dogs to find the owner who abandoned him and exact revenge.

It's a neat set up and a funny perspective for a movie, which leads to lots of great scenarios and comedic moments. It has some truly brilliant one liners and jokes that will have you laughing out loud numerous times. They really do use the dog angle to its fullest extent with some brilliantly sharp and witty dialogue. It is also refreshing to see that the best gags weren't spoiled in the trailer which a lot of comedies have started doing of late!

The comedy is elevated by the brilliant voice acting. You'd expect nothing less from a comedy great like Will Ferrell who is of course superb, but it's Jamie Foxx who steals the show with some truly inspired voice acting. Isla Fisher and Randall Park are great too, with the four of them making a fun foursome to follow around for 90 minutes.

I do think at times it goes a little over the top and drags out some of its jokes a little too long, but these are minor issues really.

On the whole, Strays is a fun, fresh, and most importantly a funny comedy that will be sure to entertain.

f--k me, this was wretched
PotassiumMan20 August 2023
If you have a passion for excrement or inane jokes about the male anatomy, or you like a film to be as disgusting as humanly possible, this could be your own personal Citizen Kane. If you believe that the world according to dogs is the equivalent of an undying infatuation with toilet humor then this film will be your Shangri-La. If you find purpose in pitying actors lending their voices to a project that goes to hell within the first couple of scenes, you might find something here.

Otherwise, it's a good idea to steer clear of this woeful, misbegotten garbage that did very little to make me think of the world from a dog's point of view. Since that was the film's goal (albeit a comedic one), I rate this a hardcore failure and not recommended except as punishment.

To all the films I've rated lower than a 5/10 before this one, I absolve you for not being as bad as this.

I did not expect that, loved it.
Sleepin_Dragon19 August 2023
Reggie is abandoned by his owner, he meets up with a small band of other homeless dogs, and vows one thing, revenge.

Well this came as a big surprise, after the complexities of Oppenheimer, it was just so good to sit and watch something easy going and fun. This really did serve as a pick me up for this awful summer of 2023.

It was nice to be in a packed cinema, one that was genuinely full of laughs, and whilst they trailered it heavily, they kept the best moments for the film.

Oh boy, I thought this was going to be a film to take the kids to see, they'd love it I don't doubt, but it's way more crude than I was expecting, it put me in mind of Ted, it's that cheeky, bell laugh brand of humour.

Rude and funny, loved it.

8/10.

The devil in the sky
AfricanBro17 August 2023
Really surprised I went to watch this because it's not my type of movie but the R rating was soo appealing and I'm glad I went because it was a blast. Reminded me of Ted, the movie defied expectations. If you had come across teaser photos or muted clips, you might assume it's aimed at kids, but it's far from it.

If you're a dog lover, the emotional aspect will undoubtedly resonate with you more. Personally, I lean towards cats but dogs are fine, I guess. That didn't detract from how much I loved the movie's humor. It was undoubtedly its strong suit and what won me over. Despite its comedic focus, the film carried a meaningful message and theme that prevented it from being a mere laugh-fest. It blended everything in so well. I can already see the 'the best love is the hardest' message might hit home for some; definitely take that friend you know in a toxic relationship to watch this with at the cinema lol.

The plot, while not groundbreaking, wasn't a drawback for me, considering it's unrealistic to expect a talking dog movie to revolutionize storytelling. Initially, I felt Hunter's voice casting was slightly off, but got accustomed to it pretty quickly. I couldn't help but imagine Jamie Foxx's Bug as Samuel L. Jackson, although Foxx was still outstanding. Nice to see a mini-reunion between Josh Gad and Isla Fisher after Wolf Like Me, which I still think I'm the only one who loved it.

Soundtrack was cool. Again, this was funny, there's a few jokes too that can go unnoticed because they're not as prominent as the rest too. I loved the lighter-shade humans line. The cameos were pretty decent too, especially the couch. With a runtime of just over an hour and a half, the pacing was spot on, avoiding any unnecessary plot filler or rushed sequences. The film's message was relatable and skillfully written, making it clear that it wasn't merely about dogs. And random thought, did that kid really let a stray dog lick him all over the mouth?

Anyway, I'd definitely recommend, especially if you loved movies like Ted. It's not what it seems and is definitely a good laugh. And don't forget to stick around for the mid-credit scene; even though Google said there were no post-credit scenes, it's definitely worth the wait.

Absolutely terrible!
toddkellertk20 August 2023
This is easily and by far one of the absolute worst movies I have ever seen. You would have to pay me a kings ransom to watch this again. If you want to feel ripped off, go pay to see it. A pointless storyline script that should have been burned to ashes. If not for the F bomb and every other swear word you can think of there would be no script, and no it's not me hating swearing it's that it's just horribly conceived and written. The use of the F bomb in attempt to make this humorous fails miserably. If I were rating this failure on a scale of temperature it would rate absolute zero -273C. Wish I could have my time and money back on this one. Save yourselves and just don't watch this!

Great comedy
haskel-7295119 August 2023
This is a great comedy, it's an even better dog movie. As a dog lover, I immediately hated Doug, the owner of Shi-err Reggie. The sad reality is that there are millions of those people. Folks who have zero business even being around the greatest animals on earth. But that's another discussion. I saw Strays tonight on its first day in theaters and loved it. It is a foul, raunchy, subversive, brilliant ride and I loved every minute of it. Yes, there are a few things that could be improved but not many. The ending is actually perfect and the mid credit scene is hilarious. Ignore the morons and see this movie.

Beneath the façade of this funny, foul-mouthed furry foursome feature is a friendly PSA reminding us to reaffirm our dogs' feelings
Brandon_Walker_Robinson17 August 2023
If the recent bout of comedies has taught me something, it's that a movie can be funny, good (on its merits minus the comedy), have a likable cast... but if the promotional marketing doesn't entice you in believing that the comedy has at least two of those three, then it's unlikely to gain any traction or attention. Because we were graced with a red band trailer, we would know exactly what kind of comedy it would provide. The plot felt basic enough to not expect Academy-level storytelling, so it is all up to that cast. We have dogs. Do you love dogs? Combined with the comedy, this may be just the movie for you.

I don't want to oversell things too much, as what you see in the red band trailer is the kind of comedy that you get. Jokes are surface level with sex, drugs, and plenty of foul language, mixed with plenty of dog antics. You might not laugh the hardest you've ever laughed, but it just makes sure that you laugh enough plenty of times. Jokes aren't ever cringy, just crude/try-hard enough to keep the smiles permeating. Somewhere is a PG-rated version of this that could exist, and I don't know if it would bring enough "laughs" or "good story" with the love of dogs to bring in the masses, so clearly Lord & Miller knew their selling point was to bring on the filthy.

The sell for me however was the dogs. I know that if we had the choice to hear dogs' thoughts we'd prefer not to, but we have ways of communicating for them ourselves and this movie does exactly that. Because they do, for dog owners and dog lovers out there, this can bring certain emotions that'll make you want to go home, hug your dog, and reassure them that they the greatest joy of your life. For all of the moments that bring you levity, somewhere Sarah McLachlan may be lurking around in your mind singing "Angel" and reminding you that dogs (and many other domesticated animals) tell us everything about what they're feeling without saying a word, and a raunchy slapstick comedy such as this one does so easily in about 90 minutes.

I never saw The Adventures of Milo and Otis or the live-action version of Lady and the Tramp, and I fast-forward through those other dog food commercials where they use CGI to open their mouths, but color me amazed when you have a film with animals as the stars. Half of the time I was watching, I sat there wondering how they achieved the shots that they wanted. It's quite adorable to think of these dogs as a cast of actors and they are trained to do certain things on command when the word "action" is called; in fact, this brings me back to feeling bad for some of the pooches when you put a funnel on them or shove them off of a couch for the sake of our entertainment. There are times where I'm sure they use visual effects trickery outside of mouth movement, but for the most part it seems you are seeing real dogs do real action. Speaking of which, I almost feel there would be a unique innocence if they didn't bother to move their mouths, so they speak more in "thought" than anything else. I think it would've worked just fine to anthropomorphize them a little less. That's neither here nor there, but it would save them on budget if they gave it a shot and it should still have good effect.

Will Ferrell was in where I find him best: portraying a fish-out-of-water character. In this case, a dog being a stray for the first time. Jamie Foxx was hilarious, but Randall Park as Hunter was my favorite and will probably be the most for others as well. Rob Riggle seems like an obvious choice to voice a dog but I felt his was a little more out of place, though he's not in it much to matter. Will Forte plays our main human character, and is the perfect jackass to motivate our strays. In fact, any time humans were around they really did help bring together that wholesome touch that remind us about the connection that makes dogs special as our best friends. This movie isn't written with tons of heart in mind, but in its very own nature you will find it if you care for our canine comrades as much as I do.

To bring it all together, it's funny enough without splitting your sides and cheats by throwing animals in your face as the cast, and yet because it is short and simple it is effective. They could've contained themselves more on the R-rating, but they have my blessing as a comedy if they think it'll make the audience laugh. This works, and I enjoyed myself.

Painfully Unfunny
calebpainter18 August 2023
I created an account specifically to give this movie a negative review. The premise for it is actually decent: what if a movie about talking dogs was actually super raunchy. The irony in that alone would allow for a decent hard R comedy. The potential is entirely squandered by the writing in the film. There are several major don'ts of comedy in here. First off: swearing is not inherently funny. Just because a character is swearing, doesn't mean it's a joke. But the script relies so heavily on obscenities for its humor. Unfunny lines are made to sound like jokes with an F bomb, making it less of a joke and more of shock humor. It just doesn't work here. The other issue I had is that it seemed like every joke went on for too long. It was almost like the punchline happens, then they just keep telling the punchline. It's a failed attempt at rapid fire humor that just falls flat. My biggest gripe with the film is just how dumb it assumes its audience is. Many jokes are explained by another character in the scene and many more rely solely on being obscenities to just turn normal dialogue into humor. I could see 12 year olds watching this behind their parent's back finding this funny, but it just doesn't work for anyone older than that.

Simple idea well executed
masonsaul19 August 2023
Strays takes the live action talking animals usually reserved for a more family friendly offering and gives them an R rated makeover. It could've been a one note joke extended to feature length but thankfully it's a really funny comedy that may lack belly laughs but contains plenty of chuckles throughout.

Will Ferrell is so good at playing naive characters and this is once again the case here, saying raunchy jokes in a clueless fashion is his forte. Randall Park and Isla Fisher are both very funny and Jamie Foxx is just perfect, boundless energy combined with an ability to make any joke work confirms him as the best of the bunch.

Josh Greenbaum's direction is good, some of the gags are actually pretty clever, only one involving an incredible amount of dog poop doesn't land. The actual effect of the animals talking is not uncanny for once and it's got a nice amount of heart beneath all the raunch.

Are very foul-mouthed dogs funny?
RMurray84718 August 2023
This is certainly an R-rated comedy featuring dogs as the main characters. These dogs don't just cuss, they are, in many instances, deeply foul-mouthed. I don't have a problem with language, but much of the humor of this film is really predicated on us finding the image of a cute little dog cussing with the best of 'em. Will that make you laugh? If so (and nothing wrong with that), you will like the film more than I did. I found it a bit tiring and uninventive. Same with the poop jokes...a little goes a long way.

On the other hand, there are some amusing bits about the odds things dogs do, like turning around in circles a bunch before laying down. Those uniquely "doggy" gags work much more effectively.

The movie is fitfully funny and I admired the mixture of real dogs with CGI mouths. Some convincing work there. The voicework is generally solid. I can't exactly recommend it, but you know...it was an enjoyable if forgettable visit to the movies.

An oddly touching film
cutie722 August 2023
As a dog lover, how could I resist an R-rated comedy about them? "Strays" promised a wild ride in its trailer, and I'm pleased to say it lived up to the hype.

At its core, "Strays" offers a simple yet brilliantly executed idea. An abandoned dog seeking revenge on his former owner might sound absurd, but the film manages to weave an engaging and surprisingly heartfelt narrative around this concept. It's a testament to the filmmakers' ability to take an offbeat premise and turn it into something that's genuinely entertaining.

Now, it's worth noting that "Strays" isn't without its flaws. The abundance of raunchy jokes sometimes feels forced and falls flat. However, the film more than compensates for this with its underlying emotional resonance. Beneath the crude humor, there's a lot of heart in the relationships between the strays, and their quest for justice becomes oddly touching.

For dog lovers, "Strays" offers a unique emotional journey. It taps into the special bond between humans and their four-legged friends, even if the storytelling occasionally leans towards the outrageous. While not a perfect film, "Strays" manages to deliver on its promise and leaves you with a mix of laughter, sentimentality, and an unusual sense of satisfaction. It's a quirky cinematic experience that's sure to strike a chord with those who can't resist the charm of our furry companions.

Seriously
nicolekirk-3288511 October 2023
This movie was difficult to watch unless you're a 12yr old boy. If you're a fully functioning adult with any idea of what it is to be clever or have a tiny bit of class, it's a hard pass.

This could have been awesome! What is the point of repeated vulgarity that isn't funny at all unless you have mental issues. Will and Jamie, I'm so disappointed.

I have two Boston's and this movie made me ill. I was astonished at the animal cruelty and basically showing how to abuse animals. The even more shocking thing is the sexual use of animals portrayed in this movie. Why why why!

If you're someone who enjoyed this movie I can't imagine what kind of life you live.

My cat watched the entire movie from beginning to end!
info-9070126 October 2023
That says it all. First, let me say she is a British Bombay - shiny, all black like a 7 pound panther, and super smart. She was easy to train and is toilet trained because she and I absolutely hate cat litter, so we fixed that nonsense. She's small and doesn't seem to have the paw strength or maybe interest in flushing it, so I do that 3 times a day or so, and we are both much happier. If you are interested, Kitty Loo is the best system. Took four months total to get to no accidents or using the plants when she got confused. That was 2 years ago, and she was a feral.

THE MOVIE: She could not stop watching the film, and watched every frame from the first to the last till it got to credits. She was particular concerned about the eagle snatching up Bug, and Reggie latching onto his foot as they flew through the air. She jumped down from the couch to the floor and sat and watched from there (if she was allowed to get on the table, she would have gone there I think to see better - which clearly she does when nobody's watching, but pretends not to) till the dogs were back on the ground. Then she turned and looked at me as if to say "Did you see that!? They barely got away!" then she went back to the couch and continued to watch.

I started watching it late, stopped it in the middle and went to bed. So did she. After feeding her and the dog this morning, I turned it back on to finish it, and when she heard it she RAN back into the room, got on the couch and we finished watching it together. She did not move once.

The dog had zero interest in the film. Didn't even wake up to watch, but she will watch anything about food, which she loves.

I think that says it all! It was raunchy, gross in some places- more than I usually like - but I truly believe that animals have their own inner dialog so it made perfect since, because they are not just some little saps waiting for approval from us.

Fun, lively and cat approved! I give it 10 paws.

Very adult for the immature at heart.
darrenkblee17 February 2024
Pretty funny at times, very creative with an inventive narrative around what dogs think of things. The movie is kind of immaterial without this. The bad language is consistent as is a lot of the adult themes, lots of dick jokes.. lots of leg humping humour. So be warned if you don't mind that kind of low brow humour.

The acting, as in the voice over, is fairly forced at times - but I still really enjoyed it. Will Ferrel does an amazing job doing a Ryan Reynolds impression for the whole movie. Tell me I'm wrong.

Some good cameos.. and plenty of ridiculous lines that made me smile. "Poop your way to freedom" was to be my new catch phrase until the scene that followed. Which made me gag. Like a lot.

I enjoyed it, but I'm pretty immature. I'm still laughing thinking about it - made for a good rainy Saturday afternoon rental.

Nasty bathroom "humor"
nuttinurse0314 October 2023
I feel like a 10 year old wrote this script. Nasty sexual jokes. Dirty language. This could have been a cute movie but the adolescent unfunny jokes ruined it. What a waste of time. If you laugh at dogs peeing on each other, puking and the f word this may be the movie for you. If I had paid for this garbage I would have been really sad. The premise is cute. Dog realizes his owner is a bad dude and tries to find his way back to him to seek revenge. This movie is desperate for better writing. Talking about humping and balls over and over gets really old. There was clearly no effort put into this movie.

The most fun and funniest film you will see this year!
Top_Dawg_Critic9 September 2023
A bunch of us showed up late to the movie theatre planning on seeing another drama-action movie, but it was sold out, so we unwillingly went in to see this one as there were no other closer showtimes for other secondary choices, as this film would've never been a choice. Man, were we in for a shockingly pleasant surprise.

We never noticed the R rating and thus we all expected some Disney animation family-friendly film, and wow were we ever wrong, for the better. I can't remember the last time I heard myself, my friends, and an entire theatre burst out in such loud laughter. This film was juvenile, absurd, ridiculous, obnoxious, profane, raunchy, ludacris, outlandish... and we all LOVED IT!

The casting was perfection, especially Fox and Park. After overcoming the initial shock at the beginning with all the swearing, and realizing this movie is in fact, NOT a Disney animated family-friendly film, we couldn't stop laughing. The entire theatre either had a perma smile or was laughing out loud. Not only was the comedy bang on, but there was actually a sweet and heartfelt story to this, and that just added to the entire entertainment factor. I mean there's some scenes in this film that you'd never even think about visualizing, let alone seeing them on film, and that bold audacity to put them in a movie is why this is a must see comedy. It was absolutely brilliant as it was hilarious, and we loao.

My friends and I vowed to buy this once it's out on DVD, reconvene at one of our homes, add munchies, alcoholic beverages and some recreational pharmaceuticals - strictly for medicinal purposes of course, and re-watch this at least one more time. Imagine how much more laughter there will be under the aforementioned conditions. Yes, it's one of those films that would be even more appreciated under the proper environment and mindset.

This little gem is one of those films we all didn't know we need to see. If you haven't seen the trailer, don't, go in blind like we all did, the shock factor will add to the entertainment value, I promise. It's a well deserved 9/10 paws, woof, woof.

The Actors made the film
wmvkpnyr18 August 2023
The title says it all! Yes, the starstruck cast of voice actors did a wonderful job, but the animals who acted carried the film. In second place is the film and production people! The angles and contextual movements of the animals were so well done to make it exactly how i would imagine animals talking. I personally loved the script, and thought they hit all the marks for a rated R comedy of this kind. The movie had me and the theater laughing at so many moments, even up to the finale. I did tear up several times, but this was just sentiment as a dog owner and there is no John Wick 1 level dog trauma to be concerned of. Overall my wife and I loved the film and we will certainly be buying it!

Horrible, unnecessarily vulgar
debsmith-8706621 August 2023
This movie could have been ok but the offensive language, tacky humor and sexually explicit connotations distracted from the storyline. I do not know how it ever made it to the big screen. A huge waste of money!! What in the heck is going on in Hollywood?? Bring back movies that do not have so much negative energy. This is not a movie for children or anyone who has standards.... Many people were walking out of the theater and requesting a refund. And now the media is trying to push a sequel??? It is likely not based on actual viewer ratings but Hollywood's agenda. There is enough trash and bad stuff happening in real life; give movie goers a break and make more family friendly movies which appeals to a wider audience.

Raunchy Humor
stevendbeard21 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I saw Strays, starring Will Forte-MacGruber_tv, The Last Man on Earth_tv; and the voices of Will Ferrell-Barbie, the Anchorman movies; Jamie Foxx-the Spider_Man movies, Baby Driver and Isla Fisher-Tag, Hot Rod.

This is the first live action movie with talking animals to ever get an R rating in the USA. Real dogs are used in about 95% of the movie, too-there is a short scene that uses animation when the dogs have eaten some mushrooms. Let me start by saying this movie is not for kids. It contains graphic language, among other things. Plotwise; Will Forte is a loser. The only reason he has Will Ferrell/Reggie is because his ex girlfriend wanted the dog and he didn't want her to have the dog when she left him-yep, he did it for spite. Forte hates the dog so much that he plays a game of fetch with Ferrell by driving far from his house and throwing the ball and then driving home. Ferrell always finds his way home. Finally, after Forte drives many miles from home, lost Ferrell meets some stray dogs and he becomes friends with them. Jamie and Isla voice a couple of the strays who take Ferrell under their training and they all get into trouble as they try to get Ferrell home so that Ferrell can bite off a body part of Forte's-See? Not for kids. There is a cameo of Dennis Quaid as a bird watcher. Overall, some parts are funny and some are not. There is a scene just as the end credits start but nothing at the very end.

It's rated R for language, drug use and sexual content-no nudity but lots of graphic talking about sex-and has a running time of 1 hour & 33 minutes.

If you like raunchy humor, you should enjoy streaming this one.

A good laugh but way too many dick jokes

After seeing the trailer for this movie me and my partner were desperate to see this.

The movie did not disappoint with the frequency of laughs, some really made us laugh out loud and we weren't the only ones. But if I had to complain about anything, it would be the over use of dick jokes, yeah we get it, dicks are funny but only for so long.

Voice acting and CG is so good you'd honestly believe these dogs are actually chatting to one another. Plot is kept simple to allow the humour to take centre place. I enjoyedbthe movie and would recommend it to anyone wanting a good laugh.

Be aware that some of the jokes are very crude incase you are easily offended.

Dog comedy (not for kids!)
Movie_Beta17 December 2023
As a pet lover, seeing the trailer for this I knew I was going to have to see it asap. A funny film in the mould of the Ted movies, so don't expect subtlety, expect lots of crude humour.

The dogs are cute and we get a nice balance of characters (and breeds for that matter), and Reggie the lead Border Terrier is super cute. His owner, less so, treating him badly and trying to abandon this lovable and gullible dog!

The movie has a warm heart at its core, and as we experience all the escapades of the dogs we root for them to achieve their goal. I guess you need to really know or own a dog to really find it funny, and being adult in nature it has limited its market perhaps resulting in its poor box office takings.

None the less, I thought it was fun and enjoyable and would recommend it to have a laugh as a light movie with a beer in hand.

7/10.

If this is what people think is funny, our world is in big trouble

Warning: Spoilers
Dear God, am I in hell? Who in the world would believe this is comedy???? Potty talk stops in the 3rd grade, if it goes on that long. I was appalled and disgusted by the sheer lack of any quality. The mushrooms were funny until they werent... and that pretty much sums up this movie. Oh except maybe the "abuse" aspect, and then even that was twisted and a slap in the face to any victim of trauma.. an eye for an eye? They certainly do not promote that in therapy. If this was artistic creativity, it still sucked. The writer should be ashamed of this literal piece of crap.
