ABC estimates that 20.5 million unique viewers watched the series finale of Lost during its 2-1/2 hour broadcast. This episode was also the most pirated television episode ever on bit torrent networks, despite the fact that it was simulcasted, without subtitles and at antisocial hours for some viewers because of the time difference, in the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Israel, and Canada.

In the Biblical book of Exodus, the burning bush is the location at which Moses was appointed by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into Canaan. "Come down from the mountain" refers to the later story of Moses, descending from Mount Sinai while carrying the stone tablets upon which God wrote the Ten Commandments.
