Lightman and Emily travel on vacation to Mexico to rest for a couple of days. However, a representative from the American Embassy asks him to investigate the disappearance of the American Marla Seeger, who traveled on vacation with her daughter Stacy. The first suspect is a man that Stacy had arranged a blind date, but Cal finds that he is innocent. Cal contacts the police Detective Molina that believes Marla is drug addicted and is having fun somewhere else and shows no interest to investigate her whereabouts. Cal believes that corrupt police officers and the cartel may be behind her disappearance. Meanwhile, Dr. Foster is in charge of investigating for the CDC how the blood is contaminated in D. C. hospitals since many patients died in blood transfusion. She is forced to team-up with Lightman's rival Jack Rader, a man that loves the spotlights and interviews on television to self-promotion.
"Control Factor" is an episode of "Lie to Me" with two good segments. It is funny to see that when the plot involves corruption in the police in TV series, the story is generally in Mexico. The plot is well resolved by Cal Lightman, who protects his daughter in every situation. The plot of the tainted blood shows and arrogant character performed by Marc Blucas. It is difficult to understand why the drugs have not been detected in the patients that died in hospitals. My vote is eight.
