Good guys never win
etoysalarin9 October 2022
Starts out good but quickly irritates. The hero is just so dumb and weak and it wasnt entertaining anymore in the second half. Main character is funny and strong. But quickly becomes unfunny, weak and just overall clueless and it just doesnt work anymore.

Its like the antagonists are too strong and powerful and are unconvincingly rushed to be beaten at the last minute at the last episode and you spent the entire season just waiting for the good guys to win.

If you want your shows where the bad guys win 99% of the time, you'll probably like this. But i prefer a strong protagonist to keep the fight balanced.

Live for yourself

A prosecutor who appears to be corrupt with links to the underworld is hit by a car and when she awakes in hospital she is mistaken for a member of a rich family who run various businesses. Due to circumstances she takes on the role but soon finds out that she has a cheating husband and a bullying mother in law. Lee Hanee is extremely funny as the prosecutor with her facial expressions and her amusing turn of phrase and always makes you smile when on screen. The story moves along well only stuttering a little near the end but overall very watchable due to the villain played by Seo-Yeon Jin who is mesmerising and worth an extra point when I came to rate it.

I only had eyes for Jin Seo yeon

Jin Seo-yeon nailed the complexities of the cold, murderous villain. She just oozed power and glamour together with a ruthlessness that was never manic or overwrought unlike, Kim Min Jung's coquettish villain in The Devil Judge.

(Synopsis: Jo Yeon-Joo is a corrupt prosecutor. Due to a case, she loses her memory. She begins to live as daughter-in-law Kang Mi-Na (Lee Ha-Nee) of a chaebol family, who looks just like Jo Yeon-Joo.

Meanwhile, Han Seung-Wook (Lee Sang-Yoon) is the son of a chaebol family. He hasn't gotten over his first love. He gets involved with Jo Yeon-Joo, who lost her memory).

Superb acting by Le Ha Nee

Warning: Spoilers
Le Ha Nee steals the show. Her comedy is impeccable, and it's worth watching for her alone. She plays two roles: an ostensibly corrupt Prosecutor plus the victimised daughter-in-law of a corrupt Chaebol family. She is hit by a car and loses her memory, with the family believing she is their daughter-in-law. Her personality as the Prosecutor is fiery, blunt and commanding, whereas her personality as the daughter-in-law is timid and long-suffering. Le Ha Nee plays both superbly.

The 16 part series is an intricate story of the events that stem from the arson murder of the father of Le's love interest many years earlier, and the implications both personal and for the business, and for politics.

The rest of the cast, the writing, cinematography and direction are excellent, too.

K-dramas can be addictive, and this is one of them.

Weak

I was losing my mind by the sheer amount of repeated flashbacks from their past. The exact same sequence of flashbacks was played more than any amount considered to be normal. The doubleganger didn't really have an active role in the drama, you see her once at the beginning and at the end. The chemistry between the leads was quite right. The introduction was interesting enough but once they switched the events to the family it fell apart. There were a handful of members in the family of which none of them were interesting or appealing, which is unfortunate because they occupy most of the runtime. All of them were a copy-paste of the exact bad-rich-scumbag character.

Not Good Enough
PennyReviews20 June 2023
Korean Drama " One The Woman " is a makjang-action drama.

The series starts out quite strongly, with the introduction of the main characters and the big mix up. It was funny and had the viewer frustrated over the family and how they treated their daughter in law.

However, the drama quickly went downhill. It got boring and predictable. The plot also felt dated with eye rolling twists. The action scenes were okay, but not enough to save the drama.

At least the leading lady was enjoyable enough to carry the show when things got too boring.

So, overall, three stars out of ten for One The Woman.
