You really can't go home again

First things first: I'm one of the biggest fans of the original Scrubs series. The previous eight seasons of whimsical story lines about the doctors of Sacred Heart practically guaranteed stomach cramps from laughing too hard. Every character was from the get go well written. Creator Bill Lawrence was a master in mixing genuine sad moments with laugh out loud ones. Even after multiple viewings the show was frickin' hilarious. Yes, is said it: was. Because the 'new and improved' ninth season, with a bunch of new characters like med students Lucy and Cole, lost most of it's magic. Sure the adventures of Turk, JD and Dr. Cox are fun to watch, but somehow it all feels contrived. On the other hand, the new kids on the block are just horribly stereotypical cardboard characters. And even worse, there extremely unlikable. Of course there's the possibility that it improves over the next couple of episodes, but I doubt it.

Where to begin?

I pride myself to be in the top 1000 biggest scrubs fan, having re-watched the show countless times, finding new meanings to jokes or letting them have the same effect on me. When the series supposedly ended i was heartbroken, but happy that they ended on such a high note. That was eight months ago, then this. I cant say whether i'm happy or sad, maybe both. Happy that i get to see J.D. and Dr. Cox back at it, but disappointed with the disappearance of the janitor, and the introduction of interns who seem flaccid and fake compared to the original characters. I wish that they'd branched out, maybe making another hospital show without the name of scrubs and left us our memory's of the best show I've ever seen. Thats not to say that maybe this won't get better, but i cant imagine scrubs without a janitor, a nurse Espinosa, and all the other cast members that made it work.

Times are changing

Scrubs has been great for 8 storied years. I have watched each of the new Season 9 episodes and have come to the conclusion that the new added cast, will carry on with the greatness that is Scrubs. The idea that Scrubs wont be Scrubs without JD, turk, Carla, etc etc is insane. The show constantly grew with the characters, and now...we have a new fresh group. Just a note to Bill L. hey man...don't let the old cast disappear. They NEED to stay. The old cast work great as mentors to the new kids, and you add story possibilities that are endless by keeping both groups. This being said...the new group is great. I have one request from abc as well...Promote this show. Promote it like cbs promotes NCIS! This is a great show with excellent characters and top notch new writers. Bill...you did great with Season 9 so far.

Scrubs's still got it!

WOW.. was i surprised..I thought that the new season was just going to spoil the run but it was awesome!!very funny and has the original scrubs touch to it and to all that say that it's never going to be as good as the first 8 seasons..GIVE IT A CHANCE!!i read somewhere that the original characters will eventually leave the show though..and that they were there in the first episode just for a gradual transition...i'm not going to be happy when they leave..but i would like to see what the writers can do to keep the audience when JD, turk and others are gone............ .......... ......... ............ .............. ............. .............. ................ .............. .............. ................

Oh the Horror
aria_of_sorrow25 March 2011
So a week ago I finally got around to watching this season on Netflix, and all I could say is....Why, oh why? I love Scrubs, and this is not Scrubs. They have taken a good show that ended on a great point and destroyed it. The new cast is awful. Several of the "new" characters are just a remake or redo of older ones, the only thing is they fail. The jokes are not half as good as a bad joke on the last season. I still can not understand why they would they end the last season in a great way, only to have it returned with this garbage. If you have never seen Scrubs I suggest skipping this and go rent the older seasons. Last words, stay away even if you are a die hard fan of "Scrubs" you should avoid this like a plague.

A season too far?
SamuelSpade27 November 2010
I must admit to being rather disappointed when i heard Scrubs was coming to an end, it was never quite on a par with the great sit-Com's such as Frazier, Friends, Cheers etc but it certainly boasted a quality cast with superb secondary characters, such as Ted, Jordan, the Todd, etc, so i was very happy to see a 9th season had been commissioned, but wait, no Janitor, no Carla, precious little Elliot Read, a new environment and a bunch of tedious new characters? This season feels stretched, over produced and dull, i feel nothing for the new cast, how can they take the places of Judy, Neil and Sarah, and where are characters like Doug, Lloyd and even Sunny? Sorry guys, a season too far, sometimes less is more.
