Much as I really liked this series, and have praised numerous episodes with high ratings and complimentary reviews, facts are facts, and this episode just shorted out.
The writers tried to bring cohesion to S 5 with the Book of Changes and Shinies/Shadows plot lines, but they just didn't work. Neither did the introduction of a 5 year-old empathic son. The shows just seemed to meander about with fewer diamonds and more coal.
This may well be the bottom of the barrel. It's give completely over to Eli; the rest of the cast could have stayed home. His job to advise a paranoid computer geek, seemingly modeled on Steve Jobs (RIP), who believes he is haunted by his sister, just fails on every level. Mainly because Eli is incapable of carrying a whole show. It is here comparisons with Payne are inevitable. The latter's contributions when playing a major role were impeccable.
