The registration number of Howard's plane is N0153, which can be clearly seen painted on its side. All US registered aircraft are assigned numbers beginning with the letter N. However, by FAA rule, there can be a maximum of five numbers and/or letters following the N. And a zero is never the first character following the N. The zero in this case cannot be a misreading of the letter O, because the letters O and I are never used in N-numbers.
The CSI's figure out that the missing money is hidden on a private jet. When they get to the jet, they find the victim's son cutting open the seats to get the money out. All of the bills he is shown pulling out are loose. But since there are millions of dollars hidden in the seats, they would have been in bank bundles of 100 bills each for easy transportation and storage.
The victim's son is shown forcibly trying removing his father's house-arrest ankle bracelet so he could leave the house without alerting the police during his trial. Any such ankle monitoring bracelet has built in sensors to detect just such tampering.
