It's silly with bad performance, but, it has heart/spirit
srdjan_veljkovic20 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It's fun, if not very funny. But, you do see a lot of moments that show some heart and/or spirit in it. Like the people who made this, though they knew it was silly, did believe there's something in it - it wasn't "just another day at the office" for them.

And there is something in there, albeit not what you'd expect. It's not funny enough to be a good comedy, not serious/introspective enough to give some insight into the "human condition". It simply works as a sort of look at modern corporate way of life from (as much as possible) a positive/fun perspective of young people.

Hillary Duff is either miscast or simply didn't do a good job, depending on how you look at this. Which is the main problem of the movie, as the rest are simply there for her benefit. She's not hot enough to pull the "every guy is dying to ... date her", nor is she good enough of a comedian to pull a lot of the jokes. For example, the scene where the middle-aged executive can't focus because she walks around in very tight outfit doesn't really work. She is likeable and nice/cute, which isn't played on nearly enough. She does put her heart into it (making her even more likeable) and that is what saves the movie.

So, as an unusual kind-of-chick-flick-comedy to have some fun with, it's worth a watch.

Sassy
paul_haakonsen4 June 2010
I found this movie to be surprising. Well, of course I had my initial reservations about the movie in advance, being a chick flick and having Hillary Duff in it and all. But still, this movie turned out to be kind of alright.

The story, well, or what is supposed to be the story, is kind of far fetched, and a bit too quirky. But you get to live with that, because the actual story becomes part of the background fairly quickly.

What drives this movie are the characters, and the inevitable thing that you know will happen at the end - and it does! You quickly get immersed in the characters, and they are fairly nicely portrayed from everyone involved.

I actually found Hillary Duff, Matt Dallas and Michael McMillian to do quite a good job here. And I am not really much of a fan of Hillary Duff, but she pulled this one off nicely enough.

Of course, this sassy kind of romantic movie is intended to a female teen audience, and if you fall into that category, this movie would go straight home with you. I found the movie, however, to be fairly entertaining, though it is not a movie I will watch a second time around.

For a movie of this caliber, it is not too shabby, though it is sassy!

Sex and the City for the 20-something set
herbqedi12 August 2012
Where do I begin? This movie won a People's Choice nomination in 2010 for BEST FAMILY MOVIE!?! Say what? I am the last person in the world to want movies that reflect some artificial moral code - but this is misleading to parents who do feel that way. Lane, our heroine, lies, cheats, betrays her friend, has sex with someone she hardly knows repeatedly - and is really turned on by make-up sex. Personally, I think that's cool - but just a very odd heroine for a family movie.

That said, to me the movie itself played a lot like Sex and the City for the 20-something set. There is good girlfriend chemistry between the photographer, model, and Lane as they play cards with male torsos, etc., and joke about their guilty pleasures. As a movie, I found this sporadically amusing with a few of the photographer bits and one office bit very funny. I thought the friends did an excellent job doing their things. The film was well-paced, and there was some funny dialog. The acting in most of the supporting roles is fine - especially the affable Tom who must've had to work hard to say his lines with a straight face and still pull them all. Jaime Presley who plays Cosmo Editor Kate does likewise.

Obviously, as others have pointed out, the plot contrivances themselves regarding how she gets the Cosmo Story Assignment and how she gets the investment banking job are ridiculous - but what else is new in most comedies. You suspend your disbelief to accept the premise. That's OK with me.

So, Executive Producer Hilary Duff did a better-than-average job in putting together a Sex and the City for the 20-something set but not a family movie. Lead actress Duff is an abomination. Even given her character's moral wavering and hypocrisy, her dialog was still written well enough, she could've been a 20-something Carrie Bradshaw (narration, shoes, and all). Carrie has certainly had such lapses and we cheer when she looks in the mirror, learns, and leaps forward.

Not here, unfortunately. Duff was engaging child actress but she if this is representative work, she is gosh-awful as an adult. Her comic timing is off; her dialog reads project more than the hammiest emoters I have ever seen on stage; and her expressions do not connect with the interaction of her fellow actors.

Still, I was in a good mood and the plastic-wrap scene itself was funny enough so I gave it a 5. Ms. Duff should stick to producing and find another leading lady. Perhaps she can do a cameo.

This movie is pathetic!
ysic215 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is sooo bad! Actually working in the office environment(an accountant), and being privy to many office meetings and know how directors think and how in general people act at work, this movie is so bad and I'm not sure I think I heard one financial word used in the movie "Hedging",where they said this is the hedging department. Wow! That is a big word for them. I wonder if they know what hedges are or is that beyond the brainscope? To have Tom, (Michael McMillan) say that he can save the coy by introducing a program for recycled paper! What the.......??? And the Directors love it!!!! Umm, huh? Gee, if I knew that, I would've suggested in my company. hahaha!! What a joke.

Why they had Lane (Hilary Duff) putting some sort of tangled bead curtain up around her desk and everyone still respects her and thinks she is smart and not a ditzy looney, I have serious doubts. I love to dress well, look smart but Hilary Duff's character is a shame to any person looking to enter the finance world. She is an embarrassment.

Another thing, I totally dislike about this movie is the fact that Lane wants to meet Mr Right but she is a shame to the female sex in the way that she treats men. She can't believe a man would try and be somebody else to impress a woman (so dumps Liam as he is a waiter and not a high professional star as he told her) and goes for businessman Tom (whom we can tell the relationship will last one month if that), however she has also been dating all the men in the office for a story, and date she does! She doesn't really give any of them the time of day or really show any interest in them. However, they all seem to line up to date her as she is beautiful. However, she is doing it for a story as she feels what it would be like to date an office guy as they would be committed. she is a hypocrite, user, deceitful, a fake. I'm sorry, don't expect us to respect Lane. She is a shame to all women.

This was a nice little romantic comedy without much fuzz.Saw the comments on this movie and one of them said something like "you've got to be kidding" etc etc..I kept that in mind while watching the movie and i have to say that the person writing that comment doesn't know what he/she is talking about. You have got to at least watch a movie before you go and comment on the movie and make the audiences believe that its a bad movie..Now,the movie was nice, sweet, nothing extravagant just a little romantic comedy..Plot was good, the acting was fair enough,There were good looking people(Which you always want in a romantic comedy),and most important of all it had a good ending.Definitely way better than what i thought from the comments.I absolutely have no idea why people write all these bad things if it is a good enough movie. Why be so critic and not enjoy the movie!Just sit back, enjoy the movie and stop being such a harsh critic that it doesn't let you enjoy movies..cheers

Ouch.
stonemaiden05828 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, let me tell you that, after using IMDb for years, I just now registered so I can post this review.

Hilary Duff is at it again... "acting" in a horrid movie. It's not only painfully unrealistic, but while watching you feel like you're in Hilary's cheesy fantasy. The acting is terrible, and the story is very superficial. The ending seems like they felt the need to wrap it up quickly, so it's rushed and just awful! And this isn't a romantic comedy. I love romantic comedies. This is a ridiculously embarrassing story that makes women seem conceited and men seem foolish.

Don't waste your time watching this. I can't believe I wasted mine!

Lame
ichocolat13 May 2010
Lame gets what lame wants. The result is this film. I guess lame is an understatement, but I fare poorly in grammar. So pardon me.

I wouldn't even call it a chick flick, because it is not. It is much lamer, cheesier, and uninteresting. Miss Congeniality is a chick flick, even Confessions of a Shopaholic is a chick flick, but this film is just not. This film is an epic failure! I tried to be very subjective, meaning to say that I tried not to link her with her previous acting in Lizzie McGuire. But try as I might, I just can't help it. This film smacks of that Lizzie McGuire that Hillary Duff just can't shake off her acting. I watched her previous film, According to Greta and I liked it the film because she do away from her usual acting, but in this film, she is the exact copy of her acting in Lizzie McGuire.

I am very disappointed in this film, with the lack of substance, and sans creativity. A two is the best, and it solely based on the lead actor who managed to pull up something to salvage points for this otherwise abominable film.

What the wha????
clanhamato15 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Well. Let's see. Can I start by asking the question: Who the heck is this movie supposed to be for? It might have worked as a family film for its simple, contrived plot that could never happen and doesn't make any sense whatsoever. But that doesn't work because of the sexual content and swearing. Or it might have worked as a fun, romantic comedy for general movie audiences. But that doesn't work because of the simple, contrived plot that could never happen and doesn't make sense. It's actually generally insulting to general movie audiences. In general.

Oh, man. From start to finish. This one's got it all. Terrible dialog, shallow, one-dimensional characters, gratuitous use of narration, slow, ridiculous exposition, and enough awkward moments to make you glance at the person next to you with eyebrows raised and going "WHAT?" or "SERIOUSLY?" every other minute.

I would even be willing to forgive all of that. All of it. If they'd given us a character we could root for. Hilary Duff is pretty. But in this movie, she plays someone who is a shallow, petty, superficial LIAR that--for some reason--everyone just LOVES. She does no work to get to where she is (a job she lies to get, is in no way qualified to do, and repeatedly fails at) but, because the plot calls for it, suddenly she's the one saving the day and being inexplicably skilled at solving problems she would have no knowledge of how to solve (her "solutions" are absurd by the way). She was jealous from the get go, even of her friends. Self- absorbed. Cared for no one. Expected all men and the universe to grant her her desires of whatever the heck she thought love was--because she thought she deserved it. It's actually pretty disturbing and disappointing for all of mankind that anyone thought this character was someone audiences could really get behind. I kind of wanted to call her parents or something. And shoot. I'm only twenty four.

Whatever. It was frustrating. And abysmal. And, in its own teeth- grinding way, hilarious (accidentally of course). I mean, I didn't think I'd ever say this, but if you're looking for something of better quality, go to the Hallmark Channel. For crying out loud. You will literally find films of better quality than this little piece on the Hallmark Channel during any season at any time of day or night. Or, really, go watch any segment of Sesame Street. I have seen more drama, meaning, depth of character, and believability on Sesame Street. In the 90s. When I was a small child.

Hilary Duff In Office Romance
FilmMan474 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
i have always liked Hilary Duff since my school days i became a fan of her around 2006 or something if i remember correct in those same years Amanda Bynes & other actress who worked with Disney company were on top there was no sign of Miley Cyrus anywhere in the world also vulgarity was not widely spread Hilary's sister Hailey duff is also a great actress i have seen few of her horror films but Hilary is a icon.

all these actresses i am talking about here gave some of the nicest films ever in their careers as for Hilary this one also happens to be a decent one quite much better then most stupid big budget romance films out there this is a TV movie not theatrical and it is worth watching.

people and critics just love to hate everything they saw the name Hilary Duff attached to it there we go the bashing starts for no reason at least see the film and good points before you analyze only to Dis it.

well i will be honest here i was in for this just for Hilary Duff frankly speaking she never disappoints even if the script is lame her performance speaks for itself despite the fact that she did these type of roles before one can't hate her for being repetitive but love her even more i have to same the camera loves her every time she enters the frame.

beauty and the briefcase is no Devil Wears Prada but damn enjoyable for what it is can be classified in usual Rom com but on the whole it is very different balanced its got both business & fashion mixed in.

Plot:the story is about Lane a young writer who wants to make big in the world soon after going undercover at a finance company as a assistant looking for her scoop on how to have dating in a office so she can sell her story to a fashion magazine lane just mashes up her personal and professional life too much now what will happen will she get caught or come out as a winner the answer is in this film.

the cast:entire cast is wasted wish the lead guys could have been better but the highlight of this film is Hilary Duff she is so beautiful and stunning here each dress she was wearing looked superb on her i mean forget the story and everything i was only looking at her the time just flew by so fast Hilary kept me hooked.

Few things wrong:the story is not believable at all Liam was a much better guy for Lane if only he was not a liar now being a waiter is not a bad thing he was hiding Liam was greater then tom the lame dumb boss who looks more like a playboy or a clothing model then a businessman.

Overall Beauty & The Briefcase 2010 is a good film for everyone not for kids though my rating is 6/10.Recommended

What a horrible piece of celluloid or digital capture
vampyrecowboy20 September 2010
Wow...bad as bad can get on a ROMCOM.

I don't know how to write this without actually using a grand host of swear words to try to conjure up images of how stupid and retarded and insane this entire premise and development and production actually was.

Not a fan of many romantic comedies, this certainly has to be at the bottom of the pile.

Even for MADE FOR TELEVISION, this was on a low scale presence of pure absurdity and stupidity combined.

Oh...what some people will sit through on a rainy day, so as not to get wet leaving the house. That was me...too lazy to step outside my door and have rain fall on my head...

Well I had to suffer somehow...and to watch this only made me want to get soaked instead.

This was stupid from 2 minutes in, till the end...and hopefully I will be a touch smarter the next time something like this comes my way.

Great Movie
donnachenn26 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I read many negative reviews on the movie it's self and the actress Hilary Duff. But in all honest, these are the kind of movies i like and everyone is entitled to their own opinions but thats just their opinion- they just don't like this movie. I like this movie and i love how Hilary Duff acts, in fact, i want her in more movies like these. This movie was a breathe of fresh air, it's funny and romantic = romantic comedy = perfection. I saw the comments on this movie and one of them said something like "you've got to be kidding" etc. I kept that in mind while watching the movie and i have to say that the person writing that comment doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Before you judge this movie, you've got to at least "test" and watch it before bashing on it. you can't make the audiences believe that its a bad movie, because some audience such as i, like this movie. The movie was nice, sweet, nothing extravagant just a little romantic comedy.. it's simple, if you are the kind of people that want action, i guess this isn't the movie for you. Plot was somewhat good, the acting was fair, and there were many good looking people (Which you always want in a romantic comedy), as well as most important of all it had a good and happy ending. -It's heart warming. Way better than i expect by the looks of the comments and rating. I absolutely have no idea why people wrote all these bad things about the movie. Why be so critic and not enjoy the movie as a whole and it's own self. Just sit back, enjoy the movie and stop being such a harsh critic, that it doesn't let you enjoy movies.

But the only thing i don't understand is that, doesn't Tom have a girlfriend...?? Anyone want to answer to my question aha.

Definitely will watch this again on my spare time, and in my opinion; it was a great movie.

Good Enough
PennyReviews8 January 2024
'' Beauty And The Briefcase '' is a romantic comedy of the 2000's and has those vibes of an easy to watch movie. Sure, the plot isn't groundbreaking or even logical at times, but, for what it promises, it serves. It is light, it has its funny moments, it has some romance, some girlfriend action, an office setting, a magazine setting (of course it wouldn't have been a romantic comedy of the 2000's if it didn't), and some fluff.

The performances were good enough as well, as to support the story and deliver enjoyable characters.

The pace was okay too, though the ending was rushed and could have been handled better.

For the writer's sake, I hope this was someone else's idea
lotusdiem27 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Aside from promoting every negative female stereotype, the movie had little else going for it. So, somehow there is one token black person (a model roommate, who has a grand total of maybe 5 min of screen time), a famous and well-established female photographer barely in her late twenties, and some nobody broke neurotic and vain wanna-be writer living together. Of course, the two women who have somewhat of a life want to help out their down-on-her- luck friend (in addition to free rent in an amazing Manhattan apt. and groceries and lending clothes etc) by getting her a meeting with the chief editor of Cosmopolitan mag. How likely!! That would of course happen! For the next 85 min of my life I cringed and died inside. Maybe the acting wouldn't be so bad if the dialogue didn't revolve around Cinderella on pink crack.

I am so angry for watching this movie, I'm sorry if this review is incoherent. I just can't believe this got made?!!

Things I learned from this movie because I was too naive to know them before: Women don't actually need to do any work, they just need to be pretty and fashion-obsessed Men let poor choices slide if you're a woman If you're mind-numbingly stupid, that's OK = you'll have a happy ending too Cosmo really cares about writers they never met or published and give out cover stories like candy The Magic Man with the sexy British accent is really a waiter, try to snatch a grad degree carrying investment banker instead - he could support your shoe habit

Don't waste your time
manu-ste18 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I never though of Hillary Duff as an Oscar nominee, but I was surprised that she would have stooped so low as to accept this role. This is a movie that tries to be funny, light-hearted and cute, and fails miserably. While I wasn't expecting anything deep, and in fact only watched it because I knew it would be a fluff-piece, I was appalled by the shallowness, and bad writing, and the overall implausibility of the story. Will someone tell me how Duff's character was even hired to work in a serious office environment, not to mentioned manage not to get fired on her first day, as she was obviously out of her depth. And then don't get me started on the love story aspect of the film. She barely has time to develop feelings for her boss because she's distracted by two other guys, and then we're supposed to believe that she somehow falls for him in the last five minutes of the movie. I'm disappointed because the actors weren't that bad, but the writer didn't give them anything to work with.

Supeficial Bimbo
jazebelle1 December 2012
This movie, is truly an insult to younger women in or not in the corporate world. Lane is a superficial bimbo. She seems to think she can get just pretty much anything she imagines, without thinking about the consequences. She is a little over confident about her appearance and her intellect, which is kinda zero. And that stupid list of hers? What type of woman actually dates like that? She seems to be living in some dumb blond world. Oh oops, she is kinda blond isn't her? If this is how woman think they should act like to gain attention from others, it really is quite lame. The best word used in the entire movie? 'Flimsy' which best describes, Lane. The second she actually finds an intelligent man, who manages to carry a conversation, she gets bored. Oh god, and no one writes like that not even for magazine material.

Even for a lame B-grade teen movie, this fails on many levels. I mean, I'm a journalist myself and my job is NOTHING like what Lane does. I still cannot believe this movie did not get shelved and was actually released. Those who actually did enjoy this movie, I'm sorry to say must be those who live their life's out off a chick flick romance novel.

Every conversation, sounded like it was written by and for 12 year olds. I am truly sad that I actually lasted till the end of this pathetic excuse of a movie.

You've Got to Be Kidding
dcdaria8 May 2010
I can't write much a review because I stopped watching about 8 minutes in - right after Jaime Pressly's character says, "Business school would've been boring, but at least I would've come out with a guy" and then gets the brilliant idea to send Hilary's character "into the business world to find love." Because it's not like women would have any other interest or function in the corporate world otherwise. Unless maybe they were ugly or something. Anyway, had to turn it off, as I doubted any contrived lesson at the end was going to make the "Women just need Cosmo and a man" premise of this movie any better. I don't know who's mostly to blame for this, being unfamiliar with the original novel, but shame on these women for participating in it.

A fate worse than death!!!!!!!!
davis-m-chambers3 March 2011
This movie is an abomination to every aspect of filmmaking and culture. Hilary Duff is about as exciting as watching paint dry. The writing is so heinously bad. Quite literally the most offensive depiction of women ever printed to film. One would be better served watching a solar eclipse.

Below are activities that would be better than watching this flick: + Clawing your eyes out + Combing your hair for two hours + Receiving the Clockwork Orange violence rehabilitation treatment + Eating a prickly cactus + Dying by fire + Dying by falling off a huge building + Dying + Ignoring a painful hangnail while cutting citrus fruit + Knocking your teeth out with a hammer

Wasted
iferleigh5 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
However much time and money they spent making this movie was wasted because after ten minutes through this movie, I gave up. Believe me, I tried to get past the terrible dialogue, the shallowness and the rest of the inconsistencies, but alas, my efforts were in vain.

This movie is bad, I mean, really bad. The writing was pathetic and while Miss Duff may have had her heyday when she was Miss Teen Queen, if this is her entry in the "mature" actresses category, then she'll have to forgive me for saying it's an incredibly huge failure.

Watching the movie, it's amazing people--women in particular--aren't reacting more. Well, maybe they didn't bother or are still probably asleep after watching, but hey, I've got time.

I saw a scene where she makes her debut in the corporate world, exiting an elevator full of men and it was the last straw for me when she just gets on babbling about: "men, men, men" like a cat in heat. It was so pathetic, I just gave up. They make women look as if they can just be pretty, sabotage a test with water like they're in high school and bat her fake lashes to get her 42K salary and succeed. Please. Reality check much.

Oh, and don't even get me started on her wardrobe. Some were atrocious, but most of her work outfits were just so...bad. As if that's possible in that area of the corporate world.

The acting, the dialogues and the "perky me, I'm the pretty blonde" scenes Duff and her crew so valiantly tried to play off just looked like a bad version of Reese Witherspoon's Legally Blonde.

It should also be pointed out that for someone a lot of people praise for her "great acting", Duff simply could not pass herself off as a writer, let alone a serious one. Then again, she was writing for a fashion magazine about the ever-so common love in the office drama? Not exactly in the line up for a Pulitzer. Oh, and yes, this is plot line also reminds me of Kate Hudson's How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days. Not good.

Bad movie, but I'm sure Duff's fans might disagree with my views. Too bad it won't change the fact that this movie was terrible. Add this movie to the list of not-so good Duff movies for the last two years.

Advice to Hilary: She needs to stop trying to pass herself off as a "blonde bombshell" and try to polish up her acting instead. So caught up in trying to let everyone see she's "all grown up", she just ends up looking like a ditz instead of a serious actor. Someone needs to remind her she's graduated from Disney and her Lizzie McGuire days. She needs to start picking better roles and plot lines.

Heard she's been slated to play Bonnie Parker of Bonnie and Clyde. I hope for the best. Faye Dunaway is a tough act to follow.

Brief encounters
Prismark106 April 2014
This TV movie is a cross between Sex and the City, Legally Blonde and Bridget Jones Diary.

Hilary Duff gets hired by Cosmopolitan magazine to write an article about finding true love by finding the right man in the corporate workplace. Duff goes undercover at a finance company. However she is unqualified to be a PA, she has lied in her CV, acts like a 16 year old high school student and it's a wonder that she has not been fired on her first day.

Like Legally Blonde her charm sees her through but the film has a shallow and silly premise. There is a side plot where she is attracted to a British executive and her boss is uptight but has plans to save the company money by going green.

Its an unashamed and cynical chick flick aimed at younger females and even they would think its too far fetched.

In brief, the film is darling! Its obvious that the good romcoms are on cable instead of the theaters
inkblot1125 October 2011
Lane (Hilary Duff) is a freelance writer, interested in fashion and writing feature articles for magazines catering to younger adult women. If she could pitch a story to Cosmo, and get accepted, that would be heaven. Happily, her roommate is a rising fashion photographer and SHE gets Lane an interview with a top Cosmo exec (Jaime Pressley). At first, the talk goes badly and Lane almost gets dismissed. But, thinking quickly, the two ladies begin to hatch an idea that springs from just "girl talk". What if Lane, who is looking for a man to match her "check list", goes undercover at an investment firm? Men are plentiful there and Lane can see if any of these gentlemen fulfill her list and, then, capture his heart. So, it begins. Lane fibs her way into a great job, through a creative resume and interview. She will be working for investor Tom (Michael McMillan) as a personal assistant with business savvy. Although a few hitches occur on her first day, Lane makes it through, once with the help of another gorgeous businessman, Seth. But, celebrating at a bar later, she meets a handsome English musician, Liam (Chris Carmack) who hits all of the qualities of her list, except one minor item. Oh, no! To complete her article, she has to concentrate on romancing a white-collar gent! But, Liam is so hot, he's sure to be a distraction! What's a poor girl to do, with eligible men at every turn? This is a darling romcom, sure to please every eager fans, like me. It's fun, its romantic and its charming. Duff makes a great leading lady and she looks terrific while McMillan, Carmack, Pressley, and all of the others support her well. The costumes are, as one can imagine, dreamy while the setting in Manhattan is always appealing. Add on a lively, comic script and a smooth direction and what do you get? In brief, sheer heaven, fans!

Warning: Spoilers
Hilary Duff (Lane) plays this "writer" whose dreams is to write for Cosmo magazine, who gets a chance to write a cover story for the mag which is about finding her "magic" man in the "business" world. Horrible acting, stupid plot line, extreme amount of stereotyping women. I hated this movie, I don't know how I sat through it. Being a business student, I found this a slap on the face to me and for all the woman in the business world. It's a horrible representation of the business world, and women. I cannot believe this movie was even made!! I want to slap the person who gave this movie the green light! Moral of the review, DO NOT WATCH IT!!!! It's a waste of time, seriously.

Waste.Of.Time.

I cannot believe I've even wasted 45 minutes to watch what I hate. I don't mind predictable movies, but this is just ridiculously dumb.

Liam's "accent" is terrible..terrible...terrible...so hard to watch this movie because that character sucks.

Further, the Liam character is not cute and he looks the same in every movie he has been in!

Jamie Pressly was the highlight of the movie and Hilary Duff is quite annoying.

Another annoying thing was the way they portrayed the men in the movie as idiots falling all over her..yuck.

ABC Family should be ashamed of themselves for such a bad movie!

Disappointed

Lane (Hilary Duff), a freelance writer looking for romance sells a story to Cosmopolitan magazine about finding love in the workplace and goes undercover at a Finance Company. And she is looking for her "magic man". A man who has all of the attributes that are on her checklist. In the meantime she finally hears her calling when a job opportunity presents itself in the form of Cosmo magazine. After failing to impress the editor they head out of the office when they begin talking men. There Lane has the idea to combine dating and work place.

The story isn't bonny, catchy, delectable and not unlikely interesting. Just one fashion girls wanna have some cute charming boyfriend. So she figure out to go to find Cosmo, fashion editor because she's wanna hang out with a lot of men. It can be in some a lot of girl's dream but Lane, she's just go to this finance company because of just for that reason. She didn't do anything else. She just had been thinking to a lot of men all day. And I wonder why she have to put a curtain in her out-way working area?

I don't actually love Hilary Duff's performances. She's play just the comedy style and that is, nothing else. Like Beaut & the Briefcase. I have a sense that this movie want to make chick flick style, but it's totally not. I don't know why I think that but I can felt that is not.

At first I wonder why the average vote of this movie is 5.2/10 but now I'm incontestable understand.
