Sex & Nudity

  • No sex or nudity in movie. It is a story about a little boy rise up by his voice talent.
  • Some kisses, and a mild scene or two involving shirtless men.
  • A few mild sex references possible.

Violence & Gore

  • Henry is chased by bullies multiple times during the movie who want to fight him, but they never catch him
  • A boy's grandfather smashes his radio onto the floor and then proceeds to kick and punch the boy, who screams and cries. This scene is brief but upsetting
  • A man punches another man in the face in a restroom

Profanity

  • A few uses of s**t and d**n, with one paired with God.
  • A few "N" words, one "A" word, a few "H" words, and that's really it. However, what really strengthens the language is because the grandfather is a potty mouth.
  • one crap use
  • Henry's grandfather refers to the music Henry listens to as being "nigger music"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • beer bottles are shown and some drinking/drug references involved too.
  • Henry's mom is a former addict and is shown going to support meetings where she is encouraged to stay away from marijuana. There is much talk about how tempted she is to smoke weed throughout the film

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Second half of the movie is very emotional

  • a man is shot and killed (offscreen) in a very brief war scene

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • When a neighbor offers her weed Henry's mom accepts it and is shown getting high, breaking her sobriety and leaving Henry in danger. She is shown in a zombie-like state

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • It is revealed towards the end of the movie that Henry's father was killed in war, and that nobody else can see him anymore but Henry, who up until this point was under the delusion that his father was with him. This is a big shock in the movie and is proceeded by very emotional scenes of Henry dealing with his fathers death and saying goodbye to the "ghost" version of his father
