Some thoughts have been building up in me for some time, especially season 2 so far. The biggest of them is that main characters are so inconsistent in personality and values. That's expected to a degree with teenagers, but the latest is Harry. He reminds me of Silver when she was out of control with bipolar. Even at the time, I thought Silver's emotions were extreme and I was surprised that no one noticed. Now Harry's behavior is more than one drunken episode or simple infidelity.
Has Beverly Hills corrupted the Clark family. In season 1 I loved Annie and given that, she was a teenager I respected also. She showed fortitude at times and usually stood by her values. Obviously the sexting was traumatic so maybe her total lack of any will exemplified in this episode is to be expected but she has become a total willow blown every direction by the current winds. Dixon is barely better and I've already discussed Harry. Annie seems ready to sleep with anyone who even talks to her.
Looking back, did no one notice her trauma with the sexting? Where was her family? Dixon finally reacted for a minute, but mom and dad did literally nothing helpful and Harry even victim shamed her. Where was Kelly? What happened to Annie was devasting. Girls have committed suicide over it. Legal action would not have been unthinkable yet it was never mentioned.
The hit and run is also a factor in Annie's behavior. Again she shows little moral fortitude although admittedly it seems to be a losing situation no matter what she does. Prison is a definite possibility.
Teddy is another possible sociopath along with Naomi. There have been times I hoped for more from Teddy, but he is as self-centered as any of the characters.
I have not seen or heard the outcomes of any future episodes, but does anyone else think that Jasper will somehow turn out to be responsible for his uncle's death?
I am currently binge streaming this series after totally giving up on a few other series because of slow pacing and lack of direction. If at least one of the characters doesn't shape up soon, hopefully at least Annie, this will be another one I dump by the wayside.
