"Season 4" was the episode that began the literal fourth television year of "30 Rock"
tavm6 October 2010
Okay, I'm now just starting to catch up on last season's "30 Rock" eps. In this one, Jack tells Liz to get a new cast member who appeals to middle America so Liz and Pete go to a new comedy club incognito but it arouses suspicions from their staff not to mention Pete's wife. Tracy finds out he needs to go back to his roots and Kenneth goes on strike when he finds out accidentally about Jack's bonus...Written by creator Tina Fey, there are plenty of hilarious, if silly, lines and situations that, as always, abound in these episodes. And Steve Buscemi makes a welcome return as Jack's lawyer. And so began the fourth season of "30 Rock"...

Warning: Spoilers
It's Jack v Kenneth big time, with Kenneth showing his tough side to stand up for the common folk at NBC. Lots of street shots in this episode, and all credit to the production crew with their casting of extras. There was one scene with Tracy in the street and you could see a couple of people taking photos of Tracy because it's a big deal.

It's easy to forget that 30 Rock and Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip debuted on NBC at the same time. Conventional wisdom was that Sorkin's powerhouse series be the one that would survive the first season, with 30 Rock being a one season wonder. But history has proved otherwise.

Warning: Spoilers
A funny episode to start another season.

Pages had their overtime cancelled since there is apparently no money, but then Kenneth sees Jack's paycheck and starts a strike. Liz and Pete need to look for a new cast member, Josh quits, Tracy tries to get back to his roots and Jenna goes country.

The highlights of this episode for me were the scene when Liz and Pete are confronted and pretend to have an affair as Pete's wife walks in as well as see Kenneth starting a strike. Both were hilarious and it is nice to see Kenneth be a bit of a fighter but without ruining his usual character.
