Shooting and armed conflict seem to be the centerpiece of this series.

Some of the plot revolves around the dealing of marijuana and other substances. Meth is occasionally seen being used as well as pot and pills. Some unkown powders are used occasionally however drug use isn't frequent and is usually brief.
Casual drinking and occasional smoking occurs in the series. Major characters take to selling drugs such as OxyContin and Heroin. Some characters implied use drugs casually.
There are scenes of drug use in Seasons 3 and 4, most of which consist of characters snorting powdery substances. The series on the whole, does not glamourize or encourage drug use.
A more well-presented character from Season 5 and a villain from Season 6 (who is portrayed as a very competent tycoon) engage in casual marijuana use. A young teenage girl is shown to be an expert in growing marijuana - mentioned on occasion throughout the series.

Some occasional tension and intense sequences throughout each season however the tension is usually ramped up towards the end of each season.
The show does contain lots of intense shootouts with some blood splatter and some scenes contain gruesome images.
Rated TV-MA for strong violence, some sexual content, language and drug material.
