1968 Outbreak
nogodnomasters8 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The opening shows Vloggers treating the 1968 film "Night of the Living Dead" as if it was based on a true story. Some pod-casters decide to travel to the site on the 54th anniversary. The group is lead by Adam (Mason Johnson) sometimes called Dave. It includes his girlfriend Piper (Brianna Phipps ); zombie skeptic Brady (Denny Kidd) also called Ray once, and his near girlfriend Judy (Mckenzie Clay) as their relationship or former relationship is not fully explained. They can't get a connection, although when the President goes on the air everything is fine. They drink, do drugs, and get visited by a zombie.

This was a low budget amateur film. The location is supposed to be Pennsylvania. Brady had a strong southern accent and piper a slight one. When they filled up with gas, the meter was metric. The old house was basically new: New green metal roof, clean white aluminum siding (knock on wood), and fresh paint on the inside with the wall kicked in here and there. Even the gun from 1968 looked new and shiny with the stock recently polished. The acting was less than polished. There were noticeable gaps in audio and video.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

A Sad Attempt At Rebooting A Classic
MagnifiqueMikey9 November 2022
Fan films are often hit or miss, this one was unfortunately a miss. Terrible writing, an unlikeable cast. It's not worth your time or money- save yourself time and just don't watch it.

On the bright side, Village Roadshow Pictures, Chris Romero, George's company Sanibel Films, Origin Story, Vertigo, and Westbrook Studios are all partnering on a brand-new legitimate Night of the Living Dead sequel.

LaToya Morgan is also attached, who will undoubtedly come out with something solid! This film should be used as the perfect blueprint for what NOT to do.

That being said, if you do give this a go don't say I didn't warn ya! Can't believe I sat through this in theaters!

An Alright Film
cookiewithcheese9 November 2022
It's clear there was a tight budget with this film so I wasn't going in expecting much but it actually wasn't too bad. I wouldn't say it was a hit or miss, maybe somewhere in the middle, it was just alright.

Some of the acting was really good while other times it was pretty bad, some of the the camera shots looked really good while others looked cheap and lazy.

The story felt too slow though, I wasn't always as engaged, and I didn't have much of a connection with the characters either, one or two had some depth, the rest were just not as interesting.

If you're looking for just simple fun film to watch to get you out of the house, if this a shot.

Best Damn movie since Jaws III
jakecyoung-329999 November 2022
This film is amazing. Best thing I've seen today since a shutter classic. The practical effects are outstanding or an indie flick. We need more films with this classic horror vibe!

A great homage to George Romero's classic film with lots of subliminal references! I'm glad I got to see it!

It has its own original soundtrack of music, very likable characters that bring a new age of horror fans. The locations in it wouldn't give you that classic nostalgic horror vibe, sledgehammer horror reviewed it on YouTube and I couldn't agree more!

Denny Kidd & Mason Johnson are an awesome reminiscent of Henry Cooper and Ben from the first film!

A solid effort!
xombie762 January 2023
I was given the opportunity to watch a screener of this film, and being a huge fan on the original Dead series from the master George A Romero, I was looking forward to seeing what these guys had done Now, lets start of by saying this is a low budget film, its not a blockbuster by any means, but I feel there was a passion behind this, and a great idea, which comes through. So going into this with that knowledge, I had a good idea of what to expect, so lets get into it... The Acting: Its hit and miss, some of the acting is good, some is not that good. Its not terrible, mind you, but some of it is just a bit bland, with no passion or emotion behind it. And some of it, is overacted!

The story: This is one thing I liked a lot about this. Reminiscent of the background for Return Of The Living Dead where the original tale was based on real events. With an interesting premise, and some solid character development to start with, it starts out well, but the premise doesn't hold the pacing throughout.

Filming/editing: This was something that might be due to a screener version or maybe not, time will tell, but the hue, or saturation was so bright! It made everything seemed washed out, and there seemed to be a filter used (not sure the name of it) but dark around the edges! There was also a part about 30 minutes in you hear the director say "cut"... But this may be due to it being a screener, time will tell!

Effects: Little special effects, but the ones used, mainly to make the eyes have that sunken in effect, were done well, and probably helped by the way it was filmed. Hard to say, but if the movie was in full colour, it may not have looked as good.

Overall... This is a fairly decent effort, with a good story and writing, but the filming quality, at least in the screener was what let it down.

A Night Of The Undead ... A Cult Classic On A Budget.
paigesizemore10 November 2022
Solid cast. Solid story. I felt really attached to these characters. I do believe that this film will become a cult classic. It's not a remake but more of a sequel. Evil Dead, Friday the 13th.. all these films had a small budget. Look at them now. Night of the Undead has a nostalgic vibe and makes me think of old school horror. Practical effects. I actually went and watched this film a second time with Family because of the ending. It modernizes the idea of zombie and the divisiveness of the current world that we live in is utilized in relation to the events that happened in 1968 in the original film. Die hard Romero fans may have a problem with the film. I did not! I believe if you have never seen the original film ... you can easily watch this one. A Night of the Undead is not A Night of the Living Dead.. it fits in it own category. I went back and watched the original film recently. In many ways ... it's just hard to watch. A Night of the Undead capitalizes on this because a lot of the young generation isn't going to be able to sit through the original 1968 film to learn the backstory. A Night of the Undead explains all.
