Ray is upset. The sperm he donated to Leah's friends, a lesbian couple, has mysteriously disappeared as well as the women who have left Brooklyn. Ray would like to find out where did the women go and what was the fate of his seed. This episode will spend most of its air time trying to locate Leah's friends who came to Ray for help.
When Ray, helped by Jonathan, try to track down the lesbians. Their search is not an easy one. They follow many leads that don't go anywhere. Then, they get a tip and find out to their horror the sperm had been sold to a different lesbian couple, who knew nothing about Ray. To make things worse, one woman is pregnant. The women cop an attitude because they perceive Ray is a loser in real life. The women get upset at looking at what their child will look like. Ray is not exactly what they had in mind!
Jonathan is clearly blocked. His editor calls him trying to find out how is his novel coming along. Jonathan lies because in reality he hasn't made any progress. When Jonathan and George meet Richard Antrem and the critic, Louis Green, at a watering hole in Manhattan, presents a touchy situation for both men. George hates Antrem's guts for obvious reasons; after all, he is now married to his ex-wife. Jonathan has been the target of unfavorable reviews by Green.
George decides to take a stand. He writes an essay to be published in the next issue in which he deals with his hated Antrem. Jonathan warns about the libel implications, but George doesn't care. The result is an angry Antrem challenging George to a fighting match. Jonathan feels he must fight Louis Green as well. Ray promises he will help his two friends in whatever way he can.
Nicole Holofcener directed the episode written by Donick Cary. The director gets good performances all around. Oliver Platt and John Hodgman are seen as Antrem and Green, respectively. Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson are perfect in their on going characters. This is a two part installment. The series will come to a close next week.
