Very thought provoking

This is a very low budget film, and it does show. But this is not a reason to miss this very sincere and thought provoking effort about a radio preacher's profound change after his gay daughter's suicide.

No doubt inspired at least in part by Fred Phelps and those who think like him, this Reverend Gary starts out as a very narrow minded, intolerant, hypocritical bigot who hates anyone who doesn't think the way he does. In fact, he not only hates the homosexual community, he hates non-whites, and any religion that doesn't mirror his "bacon-chomping, bible thumping, good ol' boy" brand of Christianity. He knows his daughter Nova is a lesbian, but he hopes it's just a phase.

After a good friend of Nova's, a young gay man named Adam, is the victim of a brutal hate crime, and Nova's girlfriend of six months finds out that Nova is in fact, Sarah, daughter of the hate mongering Rev. Gary, Nova/Sarah kills herself.

In a fantastical twist, Rev. Gary wakes up one morning to find that time has rewound by 2 weeks, and that not only are Sarah and Adam still alive, but that he himself now inhabits the body of a gay man named Shade. It sounds confusing, but when you hear another religious leader speak of the story of Jonah, Ninevah, and the whale, it will make sense. It takes living in a body, and a life that he does NOT choose to understand that unless he walks a mile in someone's shoes, he doesn't know what they are going through, living with, and he certainly didn't understand how to be compassionate until he inhabited Shade's body.

It is low budget, but along with the awkward digital video shots and a few sound issues, there are also gorgeous shots of green fields, nature and city traffic.

I'd recommend it highly to those who appreciate gay cinema and an informative morality tale.
