Entertainingly superficial, but it has a nice story
tabuno28 January 2019
This romance comedy has Brain Krause from Charmed and Lauren Holly from NCIS playing the estranged parents of two twin girls who from the trailers have unknowingly inherited their father's magical cupid powers. Unfortunately, unlike the expectations set up from the trailers and that magic enchanting the movie like Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in Practical Magic (1998), the magic doesn't really seem to light up the movie until more than halfway through the movie. The second half of the movie offers more sustaining interest and playful irony as the struggle with the twins attempting to fight for a boy they fall in love with diminishes into the background. This movie is entertaining superficially, but it has a nice story arch about sisters and falling in love and the message about helping not forcing love.

Sending wrong messages.. even for a feel-good movie
sjingmiao4 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
First of all and I felt this very early off the start of the movie, the twins are very manipulative and control other people's love lives in their own way. I get it, matchmakers, but still, how would you feel like if your friend tells you that you can only go to a school dance with this particular person because they like you two being together..? It's funny the whole school just went with it. And that Connor, I mean come on, clearly he was flirting and hoping to date both girls, neither of them feel there's something wrong with him? I'd call an end to it even just after knowing he answered yes to both of them. Don't like how the movie present the concept of love and how it functions.

Nice Feel Good Film
dantayuk9 June 2010
This is a really nice feel good film. As far as teen Rom-coms go, this isn't half bad. I'm sure teen girls would love it but as a guy, I quite enjoyed it too.

Brian Krause was really impressive and the clueless father, Daniel. He really suits the lovable Dad role, so this was a smart piece of casting.

Never seen any of the other cast members but I was particularly taken by Danielle Chuchran who played the beautiful Emma. Not only is she stunning but she played the role really well.

The special effects were a little cheesy and if I'm honest, the film could of done without them. A Cupid doesn't need sparks flying from their finger tips but it is an improvement to the old diapers and bows n' arrows.

If you want to some light viewing. Then check this out. :)

What were you all watching?
jac_90912 February 2011
This is possibly one of the most poorly written, casted and directed movies I've ever seen. I realize it's written for a specific tween age group, but this is so behind the times. My little sister was dumbfounded with what the characters were saying and sometimes thought it was a joke. The whole movie is laced with an annoying whimsical, "everything will be OK" type of vibe that just drags down every potential for an exciting moment.

The only way I was finishing this movie was just to see if these writers were actually following through with this film. The characters are amazingly boring, with a slight exception to the Mom. There are those moments after a character says their line and a there's an assumption, a flow that should come next, but instead they meander in what they just said. It was very strange to watch. It ended with me having a physical stomach ache because of the sheer awkwardness and odd behaviour demonstrated by the characters. Why I put myself through this, I don't know. :P

This is from a passionate movie goer's perspective, keep this in mind.

Chad Hively is the real Romeo
musikluva2289 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
"You're So Cupid" is a cute and enjoyable movie for the whole family (and for romantics everywhere). Yes, the dialogue is pretty cheesy, and the delivery can be stiff. The special effects are also a bit ridiculous, with the sparkling nail polish. But I loved the relationship between Elliot and Lily. Though the shy sister (Lily) doesn't get the guy of her dreams, she gets the real happy ending with Elliot--I really liked the Romeo and Juliet tie-in too.

Though I like Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan, Friday Night Lights), I couldn't get into the character of Connor, considering he was under a spell for most of the movie, acting overly lovesick and dopey. Connor and Emma seem like a shallow couple (though yes, beautiful and blonde). I didn't feel any chemistry between them, and they didn't even get to know each other. On the other hand, Chad Hively (Elliot) easily showed the most talent out of the young cast. I got chills when he delivered his line to Lily: "How am I supposed to be Romeo unless you're Juliet." The cheesiness works if there's a believable connection behind it. I enjoyed the movie, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Chad.

Fun family film!
voodoowoman20105 August 2010
A darling story with a great cast! No need to be worried about who this film is appropriate for as it is most definitely appropriate for all ages. How refreshing it is to be able to sit down to view a movie without any concerns as to which eyes or ears are watching. While animated films are fun, it is nice to find a great family film without it having to be animated. No sex, blood, violence or bad language. The magical touches in the movie add to the fun! The locations of the film are beautiful and well chosen. I especially enjoyed the beauty of the prom scene in the movie. A nice film to add to your family film library! I highly recommend taking the time to check this movie out!

Great family fun!
bwind224 August 2010
This movie was great for the youngsters!

Good acting, lots of funny moments and a fantastic script! The lovely Lauren Holly is wonderful, as always, as is the rest of the cast.

Sally Meyer seems to be an up and coming screenwriter that's destined for a bright future in the business.

It's just good, clean, fun for the whole family!

It's rated G, but don't let that fool you in to thinking it's only for the preschoolers. Infants to tweens all the way up to their parents will enjoy this gem!

Highly recommended!

Excellent movie for the whole family. Fun and entertaining
BackRoadGirl14 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I love this movie. It's really awesome. Jeremy Sumpter is so cute in it, I have been a fan of his since Peter Pan. I watch Friday Night Lights and I am really looking forward to Soul Surfer.

Brian Krause is really cute as the clueless Daniel Valentine, and Lauren Holly is hilarious as Audrey.

This movie reminds me of Parent Trap meets Bride Wars I love the story, it's fun and entertaining all the way through.

Jeremy Sumpter does a really good job as the love struck Connor. When he gets put under the spell of the girls, he comes off as a sweet bumbling lovestruck guy, and it's believable.

Chad Hively who plays Elliot might be a newcomer, but his considerable skills show that he's going to go far.

Danielle Chuchran and Caitlin EJ Meyer are delightful as the fraternal twins Emma and Lily.

The supporting cast is great too. I liked the goofy Marvin and his hot new love.

This is a fun movie that girls of all ages will enjoy.

Perfect for what it is
Lily-3231 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
It's just cute. Nothing offensive. Nothing too corny (just a little). I saw the trailer for it some time ago but never saw anything about a release. Direct to DVD kind of movie but not in a bad way. There were a few plot holes but nothing that really detracted from the point; love isn't easy but always worth it. I like one of the final lines of the movie, "They say you fall in love once in a life time, really in love. I believe you fall in love over and over and over again, until you get it right." This is a movie that actually is good for the whole family. I'd buy it and I'd watch it again even if it wasn't the "best movie ever!"

You're So Cute!
gregsonproductions18 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a real gem. The story is unique and original.

Danielle Chuchran as Emma and Caitlin Meyer as Lily are perfectly cast as the feuding twin sisters. The story isn't over the top silly as is the case in some of the more current Disney type movies.

When Lily (Caitlin Meyer) and her twin Emma (Danielle Chuchran) find out that they've fallen in love with the same guy, it becomes an all out war for his affections. And that's when the story really takes off.

As they battle for the love of Connor Miller (Jeremy Sumpter) You're So Cupid becomes a little bit 'Bride Wars' and a little bit 'Parent Trap' when the girls find out that their parents are finally going to break up for good.

Emma and Lily decide to ditch Connor and make an all out effort to save their parent's marriage.

With some cool but low budget special effects, the film entertains and charms its way to the end.

Danielle Chuchran is adorable as Emma Valentine the tomboy who never thought she could or would ever fall in love and Caitlin Meyer really shines in her role as the sweet, shy, Lily Valentine who dreams of finding true love similar to Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'

Brian Krause is perfect as the hapless Daniel Valentine. His performance is subtle and charming.

Lauren Holly delivers a funny, engaging performance as Daniel's estranged and a little deranged wife, Audrey.

Jeremy Sumpter plays his part of the clueless romantic interest, Connor Miller, perfectly. His facial expressions when he's under the spell of the Valentine sisters are hilarious.

Chad Hively who plays Elliot, the guy who's madly in love with Lily, delivers a funny, likable and quirky performance.

Malese Jow has a nice supporting role as Megan, one of Lily and Emma's best friends.

The rest of the cast deliver solid supporting performances.

You're So Cupid is a sweet romantic family movie with twists and turns and just enough magic to make it a movie that will be enjoyed by the whole family.

Sweet Romantic Comedy about Cupid's Family
srose678-110-28653424 July 2011
This movie was extremely cute and wonderfully cast! I love Brian Krause, and he did a wonderful job in this role. The girls were sweet and funny, but not too over the top.

It's absolutely a movie the whole family can watch together. I enjoyed watching it the whole way through, and loved the ending. Most movies now, leave you feeling empty at the end, but this one did not.

I would recommend you watch, even if you don't have kids in the tween or teen age group. Very family friendly and heart warming. The bonds between sisters and the ultimate goal of always wanting your parents to end up together forever. Believe in love!

better than Peter Pan
bexta53210 July 2014
An outstanding performance from Jeremy Sumpter, with an amazingly smooth delivery of such lines as "woah", "awesome", and "hi". I feel the other actors could have stepped up their game a bit, but their lack of talent is made up for by their amazing fashion sense. The costuming was superb. I was able to strongly relate to the character of Mr Valentine, as I myself was once Cupid. But I gave up that life for the woman I loved. And it was a worth-wile sacrifice; until I came home one day and caught her with Bill from accounting. I lost everything in the divorce; the house, my kids, even my pet Gofer – Reginald von Bootyshorts. I was so close to giving up on life; but then I saw this film and hope was restored. I owe my life to the makers of "You're So Cupid!", it has changed me for the better, in ways I never thought possible. I award this film 11/10, as it was a spiritual journey. A classic that will last through the ages.

Cute, but dated and very white
GrandmaDebbie2 September 2012
This was a cute movie, and I agree with most of the other reviewers that it is nice to have a non-animated movie to watch with 'tweens.

But I really didn't like how completely white and very, very rich everyone was. I got the feeling that this is the world of the film makers and that they didn't even notice how out of touch they were with the real world. I don't think every movie has to have token minority actors, but for some reason this movie really felt unnaturally white to me. A perfect time to have had a little color might have been when the twins did their first matching in college. That last couple could have been more interesting; either one of them a person of color, or one of them in a wheel chair - something.

LOVE
chaicadobre11 October 2023
Such a beautiful movie! I was on edge the entire time! Love the plot also. Anyone who hates this movie is totally a loser. The movie is about two feternal twins with secret powers that they dont know about and in the middle of them having super powers their parents are going through quite a tough split up and to spoil it their father is cupid! Yes THE CUPID but since he lost his powers and is unable to make his wife fall in love with him. That's when their daughters come in to basically make their parents fall in love again. But the part that had me hooked is that they both end up liking the same dude and end up causing the dude to like them with their powers that their unaware about and basically try to fight for him.
