Postcards from Hell

Warning: Spoilers
Christine is interrogated by Angel about her relationship with Trinity. Meanwhile Arthur calls Kyle and asks why he has not gone to the police, and Kyle blackmails him and asks US$ 50,000.00; otherwise he will disclose that Arthur is pedophile. Chief Matthews calls Lt. LaGuerta and Sgt. Batista and shows them kissing each other in the images of a surveillance camera and tells that they have committed perjury and will have a meeting with Internal Affairs and they will be fired from the police force.

Dexter wants to kill Trinity and seeks out another criminal to be incriminated and uses the truck driver Stan Beaudry to decoy the Miami Metro detectives. Angel and Debra find the postcards from Trinity hidden in Christine's apartment and they use them to press Christine. Dexter is summoned to be the best man of LaGuerta and Batista that decide to get married. Christine confesses to Debra that she killed Lundy and commits suicide. Arthur follows Dexter and finds where he works.

These last episodes of Dexter are engaging and the duel between the two serial-killers is fantastic. Dexter's decision of cleaning Arthur Mitchell's name does not seem to be wise, but he is determined to kill the killer by himself. The decision of Maria and Angel of getting married is also great. My vote is nine.

Title (Brazil): "Alô, Dexter Morgan" ("Hello, Dexter Morgan")

Impressive
zfinne8 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter continues to impress with it's 11th episode. Dexter and Trinity are both trying to get the upper hand in this climatic episode. Trinity tries to find out about Dexter's real identity after Dexter witnessed his fourth cycle crime last episode. Dexter tries to juggle framing someone else as Trinity so he can kill the real one; Rita revealing a secret; and his work at the same time. Dexter's world collapses as he's responsible for another death because of his perpetuating lies.

The acting is impressive as always, and Lithgow and Hall both prove this season that they are some of the best actors in the business. The Laguerta+Angel subplot is sort of boring, but having Matthews in that plot is not since he's always been an engaging character.

I really look forward to the shocking ending to this season that everyone's been talking about. Overall the 11th episode was a great one.

10/10.

The only downside was the cliffhanger.
bramb6008 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Arthur Mitchell, (a.k.a. The Trinity Killer), is looking for Kyle Butler, after he was seen by him, abducting a 10-year old boy. However, Arthur doesn't know that Kyle Butler is actually Dexter, using an alias. Dexter needs to kill him as soon as possible to end Trinity's killing cycles once and for all.

The fourth season started off quite slow, but the second half has been nothing but constant excitement. Credit must be given to John Lithgow as Trinity (he kills in threes). Somehow, he has been able to flip his nice guy image to play a genuinely terrifying psychopath. Somebody give this man an Emmy, right now. For those of you who aren't watching Dexter, how is it that you're missing one of TV's greatest and most suspenseful shows? The only downside to this episode is the cliffhanger, which should be very interesting for next week.

Great penultimate episode!
jacobstevenmillen23 September 2018
Things are definitely coming to a tense close for this season. I loved Lithgow's acting in this episode, it was top-notch, especially at the end. And I totally didn't expect that moment with Christine's character at the end!

The only thing I didn't like was the title of the episode. The title totally gave away the end, which would have been so much more surprising without the title.

Also this episode wasn't quite on the same level of intensity of the episode Hungry Man, which I thought to be one of the best episodes so far, but it was still great.

An Unexpected Turn Of Events
Moviecruiser6 March 2014
Things were already tense to begin with and this episode takes full advantage of that. Great acting by Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter who developed their characters to a greater extent. This episode gave me some closure and left me surprised. Every season has a new aspect of Dexter's life shown in each serial killer and in this case we are shown that the serial killer is basically his mirrored self with an extra 20 years. The search for a hope of a normal life included with his dark passenger begins to crumble with the turn of events and finale could not have been better set that with this cliffhanger!

10/10 for me!

Dexter's True Identity
ZegMaarJus9 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode begins with Angel, he is interviewing Christine about The Trinity Killer. Matthews knows that Angel and Maria still have a relation. Rita told to Dexter that she kissed with Elliot. Arthur killed Kyle Butler, the name that Dexter used as a alias. Dexter poisoned another Kyle Butler. Angel married with Maria at the police station. Dexter poisoned Stan. Dexter killed Stan Beaudry. Dexter knocked down Elliot because he kissed Rita. Dexter his plan worked, the police suspects Stan Beaudry. Christine admits that she shot down Debra and killed Lundy. Christine killed herself in front of Debra's eyes. Arthur followed Dexter to the police station. Arthur entered the police office as visitor, he knows who Dexter really is. Amazing episode of Dexter Season 4, such a great pre-final of Dexter 4. Will Arthur betray Dexter at the police station.

You watch too much tv

Warning: Spoilers
1. Laguerta and Angel get married 2. Dex tries to frame someone else for Trinity 3. Dex punches after Rita confesses

Things are getting pretty intense. Now, Trinity knows Dexter's real identity and people at the station might find out that they already know each other. Dexter's pulling off a lot of different masks, which is where my complain comes in. It just seems like unrealistic writing that Dexter can actually pull this off. It just seems crazy. But even if I stick with the suspension of disbelief, at some point it must hit you, how does no one ever question him? Some have, like Quinn and Rita, but they never follow up. I suppose this is why season 2 was interesting for me because Doakes was actively involved with Dexter.

S4.E11 - Serial Killer vs Serial Killer [9.4/10]
panagiotis199318 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 4 Episode 11 ''Hello, Dexter Morgan'' (S4. E11): Episode 10 was good and I gave it a rating of 8.8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. So now the question is, will Dex get trinity before the police does? So trinity killed the real Kyle Butler and in a very brutal way. Angel and Maria got married just like that? So cute, im happy for them. Wow I didn't expect that Christine would kill herself and all of that because trinity didn't love her back. Its hard to live knowing that your father hates you. Also it sucks that she didn't tell Deb the real name of the trinity killer before dying. Damn, now trinity knows that Dex works for the police? Wow, what an episode, my rating is 9.4/10.

Disappointing writing and character development but convincing guest performances and edgy ending
igoatabase7 December 2009
Because of some spoilers I knew what would happen in this episode. It probably ruined half the suspense but I still enjoyed the ending. However I didn't like what Dex did because it wasn't original. Moreover it was under estimating some characters intelligence. The action wasn't also as tensed as in Lost Boys. But Christine's interview was interesting and her face to face with Deb very emotional. Otherwise I didn't like how some of their scenes were staged and doubt anyone would react like Deb did. Even Dex and Rita relationship wasn't covered properly and in fact I think the writers could have done a better job. Thanksfully John Lithgow's performance as Trinity was impressive and Courtney Ford did it again as his daughter. So to sum things up I think the ending and the two guest stars talent saved this episode. I was also disappointed that so much time was wasted to cover the Batista-LaGuerta mumbo jumbo again.

The best laid plans...
skay_baltimore5 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
So let's see if I've got this straight...

The police are on the verge of closing in on the real Trinity Killer. Yet Dexter Morgan goes out of his way to derail their investigation. Why? So HE can be the one to kill Arthur Mitchell? Of course. And look how many innocent people got injured, killed, falsely accused, not to mention a child who was kidnapped and terrified, ALL because of Dexter's arrogance.

And that's exactly what's wrong with supporting Dexter in his personal vigilante crusade. He's already killed one totally innocent man (innocent of murder anyway). Now he's obstructing justice for his own personal reasons. He's not pursuing justice for justice's sake so all the crap about "The Code" "The Code" "The Code" goes right out the window. And with it, any credibility this show has when it comes to glorifying or defending or supporting Dexter, and/or what he does.

And it makes all the posts stating that Dexter shouldn't die all the more laughable. Of COURSE he deserves to die. He's a killer; not some lovable little forensic house pet.

And let's not forget about Rita, the lying manipulative hypocrite. After having kept the fact that she and Elliot kissed before the Thanksgiving meal hidden from Dexter for days, when she DOES tell him she lies and says that Elliot "mostly kissed" her. She really should have stayed married to Paul. The two of them deserved each other.

And as far as the police investigation goes...

wouldn't it have made sense for them to subpoena Christine Hill's cell phone records, thus allowing for the possibility of tracing calls back to her father? (Just another example of the lame non-believable logic this show employs repeatedly.)

The Ending of the Episode Alone is One of the Best Things in Dexter
TheMelancholySpirit8 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I became a fan of this series about four years ago last month, having passed on watching it in 2013 when I bought the 1-5 box set. I didn't give it the chance it deserved, which is why I returned to it. By the fifth episode or so, I was completely hooked and this instantly became a favourite show of mine (and to this day, it's still in my top five!) and has become one of the few shows I could watch again and again (despite the lukewarm, mixed-bag of an ending).

So by the fourth season they're dealing with two serial killers at hand, Dexter being the one we all know from the start of course being the titular character of the series. The other, the "Trinity Killer," who, we soon learn, "kills in threes." I think acting wise John Lithgow portrays the character wonderfully, and can be absolutely terrifying at times. This episode has tension, a great build up, and a shocking cliffhanger. I have to say, the ending to this particular episode might be a top 10 of all time for me, of any series. The way it just.... happens, you know? Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow have good chemistry and their scenes of dialogue usually interest me, and it definitely makes for one of the best stories in the eight-season series as a whole. Before this, the best antagonist of the entire series for me was The Ice Truck Killer.

The episode is great, keeps you intrigued and by the end, you'll be at the edge of your seat! My eyes widened when the two of them started walking over to one another, I was almost in disbelief even though I expected such a thing (of some sort) to happen when the Trinity Killer gained access to the building with the name tag. I'm not even kidding when I say my jaw literally dropped (a little, not overly like in films and such though lol) when Arthur (Lithgow) let out the words, "Hello, Dexter Morgan".

Excellent if you ask me. One of my favourite episodes of the entire series; definitely makes the top 5-10.

so not dexter
tomsaint10 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter kills innocents, Dexter get innocents killed, Dexter let someone take the blame for trinity murders.............

He has definitely lost the little morality that made him interesting and complex as a character. I guess being a father, brother, husband, scientist, serial killer and a kind of super-heroes can't be as smooth and portrayed easily as it looks to be. -)

Making mistakes makes Dexter more human that he should be and thus less fascinating.

May be it is why I did not like this episode. Everything has been done to arrive to the pseudo climax with the head to head Dexter vs. Arthur........

So many flaws (walking through a police station ohohoh) on this episode, predictable ending and many other annoying stuff ( Trinity set up was so obvious we wonder how Dexter bought into it so quickly)

Terrible.
