Captivating "Debxter" evil twin investigations ; dual and webbed character development ; Courtney Ford's convincing performance

If you had lost faith in Dexter then this episode should definitely be your redemption. Hungry Man was a good episode to lead us to the intense events that happened in Lost Boys.

I really enjoyed the double investigation and both arcs were well written. Of course Deb and her team continued to track down Trinity and as usual Jennifer Carpenter did a great job. The interview she did was just fascinating, very well staged and brilliantly directed. In fact it's funny to compare Deb to her former self in season 1. She's so strong now and has so much charisma ! Obviously the other arc involved her brother. Even if I found its dynamic a bit sloppy and the writing not as puzzling as it could have been, because of its common patterns, all I can say is that it was quite surprising. In fact I can't believe the writers have waited for so long to finally unveil what the show is all about. I won't spoil it but to better understand what I mean, just read my Easy as Pie episode review once you have watched this one. I also found his hasty dialog with the character he worked with quite inspiring.

So the dinner was tasty but there were also plenty of other elements to wild the senses. "BatisGuerta" was only featured for a few seconds and this time it was more about what Batista is capable of as a detective. Also like in the previous episode Dex and Trinity profiles were developed further. The scenes with the second were relatively disturbing but for once we learned more about his past and it demonstrated that things are not just all black or white. Last but not least what I probably enjoyed the most was Courtney Ford's performance as the reporter Christine Hill. Last time she quickly grew on me but this episode she finally revealed her talent and the character's profile even managed to bring a new dimension to Dexter's story.

It was so interesting that I'm already thinking about what will happen in season 5 ! And as I consider it as a new beginning I don't expect the show to end before a few seasons. A good or bad thing ? I let you be the judge.

The Boys Begin the Cycle
claudio_carvalho5 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter is chasing Arthur and sees that he is stalking three siblings and kidnaps the boy Scott Smith in an arcade. Sooner Dexter learns that there are several ten year old boys missing and they begin Trinity's cycle of four victims, and not three as Lundy believed. Dexter meets Jonah expecting to discover where his father might have gone and hold the boy captive. Meanwhile Debra gives and interview to Christine and asks Angel to check the journalist's reaction when she asks how she could have been so fast to arrive in the crime scene. Angel sends samples of Christine and after the DNA analysis, they find that Christine and Trinity are relatives and Christine is arrested.

"Lost Boys" is another engaging episode of this Fourth Season. Dexter finds that Arthur Mitchell uses his family as a shield and his cycle of killing begins with the disappearance of ten year-old boy. Once again Debra proves that she is a great detective and discovers that Christine is hiding something. My vote is nine.

Best show in TV history
mkools30 November 2009
This episode was not only the best Dexter episode so far, it's the best episode from any TV show I have ever seen. I can't even watch this show in a relax way, I'm on the edge of my seat the entire time and sometimes I notice myself checking the clock hoping the episode will not end soon and rather go on forever.

With every new episode that ends I keep thinking it can't get any better from here, and yet they still manage to make every episode even more exciting and beyond my wildest expectations. I already can't wait for the next one!

Forget about Lost, Heroes, Weeds and all the other good shows that are out there. I mean of course they are enjoyable but Dexter has set a new standard now and it will be very hard for the competition to even match that.

I've seen a lot of TV shows but Dexter is my absolute number one, best ever show in television history leaving a big gap to the number two of my most favorite shows of all time, Lost.

Wow!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Amazing episode. Astonishing. It is like episodes of the two first seasons. I just can't wait to see next one, and next one... Too bad that it is only two episodes left. I wish it was a little bit longer. Dexter is going to have a lot of problems in the next episodes. Trinity is going to reveal his true identity. And I think that this will be great thing to watch how Dexter is going to avoid being compromised as a serial killer. And one more thing - I am feeling sorry for Quinn.... He kinda fell for Trinity's daughter and he didn't know that it was a scheme. Poor guy:/ Great episode - it cancel the bad taste of the third season's episodes.

Dexter discovered that Arthur kills 4 people in every Cyclus. Debra thinks that Christine killed Lundy. Arthur gives ice cream to Scott, he eats it. Christine killed Lundy, she is related to Trinity. Christine told her father that she killed Lundy. Dexter found Arthur, they got into a fight. Dexter saved Scott out of the cement. Arthur escaped. Christine got arrested by Angel. Especially me

Warning: Spoilers
1. Christine's got major dad issues 2. A boy almost drowns in cement 3. Arthur gets away

Solid episode. A bit of sloppy editing that brought down the tension toward the ending but overall, not bad. There are still many unanswered questions. Which family is Christine from? Why does Trinity treat his current family like that? If the police is so close on Trinity, would Dexter get a chance? What is going to happen with Rita?

2 more episodes until season 4 ends. Let's hope that the momentum isn't lost.

S4.E10 - Crazy Dad Crazy Daughter [8.8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 4 Episode 10 ''Lost Boys'' (S4. E10): Episode 9 was good and I gave it a rating of 9.2/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Why did he kidnap that boy? I hope he wont hurt him. He doesn't hurt kids. Ok, so Trinity's cycle is not 3 victims, it is 4 including 1 kid, now that's interesting. The reporter is hiding something but what is she hiding? Trinity has to be the weirdest killer ever, weirder than the Ice Truck Killer. He has so so many psychological issues. Wow, now they know that the reporter is related to trinity? Nice! Wow Christine shot Lundy and Deb? Now that's a twist. So Christine is as messed up in the head as her daddy. And they arrest Christine, now that's a happy ending. Overall a really good episode, my rating is 8.8/10.

Worst episode of the series
maximusveritas5 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I've enjoyed Dexter as a series. While it's never been the best show on TV, it's always at least avoided many of the usual mistakes and failings of lesser shows, until this episode.

So many missteps in this episode with characters acting in unbelievable ways.

The line "If my son said that's what he saw, I believe him" was particularly bad. There's no way anyone in that position says that line, but they force it in there in order to push the plot in that direction. Then at the end, Dexter makes the mistake of letting the bad guy get away yet again inexplicably by not finishing the job.

Insultingly stupid
skay_baltimore22 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Unfortunately this series is riddled with stupid, unbelievable events that couldn't happen in a million years. But this episode is straight out of some B grade slasher movie. Dexter plows Mitchell in the head with a shovel and knocks him out. Then 20 seconds later Mitchell walks away without Dexter hearing or seeing a thing. Yeah...Dexter had his back turned and was working to get the 10 year old out of the cement, but still...it's just insultingly stupid. Not to mention that if Mitchell HAD regained consciousness he wouldn't have just walked away. He would have grabbed the shovel and killed Dexter.

And this is just one example of the shoddy, lazy, stupid writing that has plagued this series for several seasons now. Couple that with the unwatchable Rita character and it's beyond frustrating -- it's flat out infuriating and insulting.
