At last some real action
kirmanolisopsaras24 August 2009
The episode was one of the best we have ever seen in this series without any doubt. I think it was about time we saw some action and storyline progress instead of Bill and Sookie kissing while Eric is being jealous around them and Marian having orgies without telling us why.

In the last few episodes i think True Blood is really winning back the fans who were tired of the Marian story since it was progressing very slow without revealing any interesting info on her background or real purpose.

The series is getting better and better from all aspects. Although i m afraid that True Blood fans like me who emphasize a lot in the storyline expect a LOT from the upcoming queen's appearance and Marians background. Don't let us down Allan :) .

Cant wait for the next episode and even more next season.

In the Country of the Blind the One-Eyed Man is King
claudio_carvalho2 November 2009
Sookie has erotic dreams with Eric while returning to a crazy Bon Temps with the population possessed with black eyes by Maryann, who is preparing a sort of altar of offer with meat. Meanwhile, Sam is hidden in the house of the alcoholic Andy Sam explains to Andy that Maryann is an immortal supernatural creature that has murdered Jeannette and Daphne and taken their hearts. Meanwhile Hoyt's mother is chasing Sam for the evil Maenad. Sam is lured by Arlene that asks him to come to the Merlotte's. Sam and Andy finds the place crowded and they are trapped in the freezer. The possessed Tara is tied up in a chair with Lafayette and her mother. Meanwhile Sookie returns with Bill to her decayed house that is completely destroyed by Maryann. Bill protects Sookie biting Maryann but is poisoned by her blood; however Sookie's hand glows and saves him. Jason comes to the Merlotte's armed with a chainsaw and a nail machine and uses Arlene to force the locals to leave the Merlotte's. Then he saves Sam pretending that he is the horny god. Sookie and Bill escape from Maryann and arrive in Lafayette's house. Sookie finds that Tara's mind is empty and Bill uses his glamor in Tara to let Sookie in and bring Tara back. Bill recalls that he read about Bacchus many years ago and he knows a vampire that might know how to defeat Maryann. Meanwhile, Maxime offends Jessica and the vampire attacks her.

This full of action episode is engaging, with the town completely insane and with "Supernatural" black eyes. There are funny moments and now the greatest mystery is the unknown power of Sookie and her glowing hand. Who is the powerful vampire that might help Bill is another question that will be certainly answered in the next show. My vote is eight.

Going Home
Tweekums19 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Upon returning from Dallas Sookie and Jason are shocked to discover their home town has been devastated by the people under Maryann's control. Soon they, and Bill who travelled in his coffin, learn what has happened. Sookie and Bill head to her home hoping to find Tara, instead they find Maryann; Bill bites her but finds himself poisoned, Sookie however is not harmed by Maryann, in fact Maryann is confused as to what she is. They then head to Lafayette's place where he and Tara's mother are trying to free Tara from Maryann's influence; Bill and Sookie join them but even with all of them there it will be a hard job. Jason meanwhile has headed to Merlot's where he attempts to rescue Sam and Officer Bellefleur from a mob determined to sacrifice him to Dionysus.

This was a great episode after many episodes where the various characters were all doing their own things they are back together in Bon Temps preparing for the confrontation which will no doubt come. This series often has mildly humorous moments but this episode managed to have an hilarious scene where Jason pretends to be the god Dionysus to rescue Sam. Surprisingly the creepiness has increased too... surprising because the goings on in Bon Temps were pretty creepy to begin with.

i cant even start to explain how well made this episode is true blood season 2 is coming too an end here with only 2 final episodes remaining and it just keeps getting better and better as they go. but we all know that they are obviously gonna leave some stuff unanswered because thats how they continue to drag the audience in but i figure that even if they cleared it all up by the seasons end i'm sure that everyone who is a true blood fan will still be at the edge of their seats just waiting for the next season to begin. this episode truly deserves the rating i gave it. cant wait for the second to last episode to air till then enjoy.

S2.E10 - Maryann's Influence [9/10]
panagiotis19936 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S2. E10) My Live Reaction / Review for True Blood Season 2 Episode 10 ''New World in My View''. Episode 9 was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Sookie keeps having these sexual dreams about Eric, that's not good. Wow the whole town has gone crazy. Maryann has been busy. Wow Maryann's blood is toxic to Bill? That's so cool. Jason pretending to be the God of Maryann was funny and smart. I really want to see a fight, Maryann vs Bill, that would be so cool. So in this episode we see more about how stong Maryann's influence can be. The question is now who can kill her? My rating is 9/10.

And they say you can never go home...
skay_baltimore24 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Sookie dreams about comforting Eric after Godric's demise while riding back home with Bill (who's in a coffin) and Jason. When they arrive back in Bon Temps things are not the way they left them. Maryann's effect has clearly taken hold. Talk about mob mentality...Arlene lures Sam back to Merlotte's, where a (metaphorical) chorus of "Hail...Hail...the gang's all here" awaits poor, unsuspecting Sammy boy. But just to show that they haven't all lost their minds...when Terry grabs Andy's gun and starts shooting indiscriminately around the bar, Arlene says to him: "At least shoot the cheap liquor...bottom shelf...BOTTOM SHELF". (Sometimes that Arlene is a real cut up.) Sam and Andy barricade themselves inside the walk in fridge.

Lafayette to Lettie Mae (after he completes a prayer that Lettie Mae started saying on Tara's behalf): "Jesus and I agreed to see other people. Now that don't mean we don't still talk from time to time".

Sookie and Bill go to Sookie's home and find it totally overrun with Maryann's influence. Maryann appears, and Bill bites her but it repulsed by her blood. Sookie touches her and light emanates from Sookie's hand. Maryann is intrigued by what she just saw. After they drive off, Sookie gives Bill a hand -- literally -- so he can use her blood to help him heal.

Meanwhile...Jason goes all Rambo/Texas Chainsaw Massacre at Merlotte's -- with only a nail gun and a chainsaw -- with mixed results. (He has more success playing G-d. Although, to be perfectly honest, the folks he's playing in front of really ain't the brightest bulbs in the pack.)

Bill attempts to glamour Tara, and in tandem with Sookie they are able to bring Tara back from the black-eyed trance. (NOTE: I imagine they did not use contractions (i.e. didn't) back in the day when Bill was turned...hence, his speech patterns noticeably lack the use of contractions.)

Bill figures out that Bacchus, in the form of Maryann, is behind all of these problems. He heads off to meet "The Queen" to seek her help.
