A gripping conclusion to season one
Tweekums27 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Not surprisingly this season finale sees the team going up against MacPherson again. Mrs Fredric tells Myka and Pete how he used an artefact to save his wife, killing several people in the process. He was jailed but somehow managed to escape. His wife claims not to have seen him since but it is obvious she is lying. Clues lead them to a warehouse where they find further clues; it would appear that he is holding an auction of warehouse artefacts. If that is the case he must have an accomplice inside the warehouse as he has been treated so that any attempt to enter would be fatal for him. Evidence points to Claudia but she is adamant that she innocent; is MacPherson somehow controlling her, is she lying or is she being framed. As they close in on MacPherson Pete has a terrible feeling… could it all be a trap?

This story is a fine conclusion to season one; plenty of questions about MacPherson are answered but other questions are raised making one wonder if certain key characters will be returning next season. There are a variety of interesting artefacts and most of the special effects were impressive… the entrance to MacPherson's underground lair was rather obviously CGI though! There were plenty of interesting twists that raised questions about the loyalty of certain characters and just as it looks as though MacPherson's plans have been thwarted everything is thrown on its head and we are given a cliff-hanger ending that will leave most viewers keen to get on with the second season. The cast is on good form; as well as the regulars we get a solid performance from Roger Rees as MacPherson. Overall a really good episode; I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Solid, suspenseful episode

Warning: Spoilers
MacPherson is selling artifacts that were housed in the warehouse. How did he get them, is there a traitor responsible? The episode features multiple artifacts and multiple story threads. If one doesn't pay attention it would be easy to get totally lost with all the twists and turns. But it is exciting and suspenseful and Roger Rees does an excellent job as the devious and amoral MacPherson. And we're introduced to the "bronze sector" - a nice new plot development. The ending is a great cliffhanger. But probably not as stunning as it would have been had I not known the series would be continuing for at least another three seasons. Nonetheless, a very good episode.

Let it go

The hunt for McPherson goes on, as the renegade warehouse agent plans an auction of stolen warehouse items. Since McPherson was at some point in his incarceration rendered incapable of entering the warehouse, the question arises, how is he obtaining warehouse items? Suspicion falls on Claudia. We get to see several warehouse items in action, including a glass goblet that renders its victims deaf and a medallion that renders one impervious to fire. The ending is a shocker and a cliffhanger, and it turns out McPherson indeed has a confederate within the warehouse. But is it Claudia? Better than the last couple of episodes, but as a villain, McPherson is about as dangerous and interesting as watching paint dry. He reminds me of the Gravedigger on BONES. After awhile, who cares?
