Enough of the dream/coma sequences
cogginsjill26 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Last two episodes involved coma sequences of Meredith and McDreamy and now this week is all about dreams involving Teddy and Owen and Allison. Enough, please!!!

Bring back Meredith already...
lindagore-6322727 March 2021
This episode was painful. I have was hoping Meredith would be awake by now. Way too much death and sadness this season.

Great visually.....but

Warning: Spoilers
This story line of Teddy and Allison is just so unnecessary. There's enough representation in the show, there is no need for this. It's forced, ridiculous unbelievable and just awkward. PTSD came from Iraq, stick to the harrowing effects of war, not focus on another same-sex love story. War and being a Soldier should have far more screen time, people should know the psychological damage that is done during one's service. That I can appreciate, that I can listen to and watch. Not some butterfly effect to go back and try to save her 'lover'. This time could have been used far differently and effectively. The only impressive component was Kevin McKid's directing. It wasn't fully Grey's but a dark and mind-warping twist on Grey's.

Snoozefest
wesleysarah26 March 2021
I love Greys but every season they throw in an episode that goes nowhere, achieves nothing and is painful to watch. That's this episode. Totally boring and pointless.

After 17 seasons its time to call it a day, Season 17 has been a mess in between Lala land on the beach and now in flashback hell.

Good episode! Good performance by Kim Raver

Warning: Spoilers
Here we have many strong points, sometimes the episode falls but the scene where Amelia and Owen argue about Teddy is brilliant. I would have liked Henry to show up but okay.

Enough of the "dream" timelines already.
lundmmh30 March 2021
This show doesn't even have actual plot line anymore. Most of the time is spent on character's "dreaming" of purgatory or make believe scenarios. Such a waste.

Highlight of mental health & Teddy past explored Warning: Spoilers
This is my first review of an episode. I decided to write this because I understand and respect that a lot of people aren't going to like this episode. In terms of the overall series storyline of COVID and Mers coma it does nothing to these storylines. Also, I understand that some people would feel like the dream / flashback sequence has been done to death (Mers drowning / Owens Iraq flashback / Mers coma). However, I must point out that Teddy is my favourite character always has been. Once I'm stuck on a character it is really difficult for me to try and change that. So this is to explain why I feel and probably a few others like me, particularly enjoyed this episode. Especially as it focused on something other than the impact of COVID although huge, doesn't discount that there are still other issues that people are facing. For me personally I really liked this episode. The flashback / dream sequences involving Teddy goes explain the root of her problem. It shows that with everything that has happened to Teddy she's probably been on the tipping point for a long time. I really liked when Amelia made clear to Owen that not all people experience PTSD and mental health issues in the same way. Also, it highlights that no matter what we try or how hard we try we cannot chance our past actions and we shouldn't spend our time worrying about the what ifs and the potentially different live we could of have. I believe that what this episode shows that the root of her problems (of running away from pain) stemmed when Alison died and perhaps even before with her parents. Rather than grieving and learning to cope with her death, she instead I enlisted into the army. And from then was involved with people that were bound to cause problems. In terms of Owens and Teddy's relationship. I really like them together but although it is difficult to accept they are probably better without each other, at least in the short term. Again, I agree with Amelias idea of learning to cope with each other as co-parents and learning to trust each other again, without any potential new relationships getting into the way.

Why ????
sumedh-parkhe27 March 2021
In an already short and maybe final season why would you waste precious 40 mins on a stupid episode where nothing happens ???? What were everyone thinking after such a beautiful poignant Deluca episode last week. DISSATISFIED DISAPPOINTED.

Amelia, you may push people to talk and feel but here it was perfect
StarofAirdrie26 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Teddy centric and the early acts are awkward , perhaps unnecessary (along with some fantasy Owen/Teddy dinnertable conversations) - ergo the honest 8/10 - but the later acts make up for it. Teddy has not been a sympathetic character the last two seasons and such sage advice as Richard's 'stop blowing up your life!' has shown how she appears to her coworkers. Except DeLuca - she (a CT and Trauma surgeon) was helping him run the COVID ICU - and then he died on her table. DIC isn't a surgeon's fault, not anyone's fault, tough to catch and reverse in time, doesn't happen that often but I digress. As she goes down the rabbit hole, she goes back through her memories to the thing that truly broke her - and so many of us one way or another almost 20 years ago - 9/11. Her lover/friend/love of her life Allison was killed in the WTC which set Teddy on her life path to where she met DeLuca - if she only stayed in bed with Allison longer ... Very Powerful Stuff And Amelia? Can't put it into the right words. She tells Owen he doesn't have to reunite with Teddy but he has to get over himself and forgive her.

At least I found her McAmazing here.

No one cares!!

Absolute worst episode of the show. No one cares about Teddy and wasting an entire episode on her is a complete waste of good screen time.

Teddy's Mental Breakdown
ZegMaarJus24 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Teddy, she looks back on her love life with Owen. Teddy is not feeling well, she has a mental breakdown. Teddy blames herself for Andrew's death. Teddy sees back memories of her past, also things that happened another way. Amelia tells Owen that he has to forgive Teddy. Teddy lost Allison during 9/11. Teddy is feeling much better, she is taking care of Allison. An Okay Episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 17, this was not good. The worst Episode of Grey's Anatomy. A non-hospital Episode is just not it. Let's get back to Meredith her storylines, please wake up fast. I miss her!

One of the worst episodes ever
eoinpgeary26 March 2021
Dear greys anatomy On your last possible season with only 16 episodes why on gods green earth would you waste it on getting out sympathy for Teddy ??? She is a cheater, not once but multiple times !!!!

I am so on board with the effect Covid has on front line staff but why waste it on teddy.

She claimed Allison was her soulmate to Owen but to Tom she said Owen !!! In her own dreams she can't even be truthful!!

I love greys but this was an awful call I think, what a waste but at the end of the day if you want to forgive the cheater this is your episode.

Irrelevant for the current state of the season
jimmyishere-3774827 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Here me out. Kevin Mckidd did a hell of a job directing the episode. The camera movements were GODLIKE and the scenes were interesting. However I don't see any particular reason for Teddy's immense devastation about Deluca's death. The weren't close at all. That thing should have happened when Henry died, not now. We already have Meredith's day dreams and the beach

5/10 for the plot

12/10 for the directing, camera, scenes, scenario etc.

Wow what a terrible episode.
trainspotting27 March 2021
I rarely write reviews of episodes but with this one I feel I had to put in my two cents. This season has not been that good which is fine for a show that has been running this long but this episode was absolutely terrible. If this show has not already jumped the shark, it has now with this episode.

I actually really liked it
echloerobinson4 November 2021
Idk why this one has such bad reviews! It was different and I liked it. It felt like a fever dream (bc it was lol). I loved all the crazy scenes that made no sense. It wouldn't be nice if every episode was like this, but as one just thrown in there it's pretty cool and unique.

Shonda seems to have run out of ideas for episodes during covid-19 virus, so she's doing aimless and boring episodes!

What do these people not understand about all we want is the beach...
bchmie27 March 2021
By far the absolute worst episode of television I have ever watched. I don't understand why we keep getting these episodes of things no one is asking for. Do you think I really want to see Teddy over Meredith on the beach with characters I actually care about? News flash you are mistaken. But beyond that, this whole episode was so painfully heavy handed and forced. It physically hurt to force myself through this episode in a way I can only compare to having to take a defensive driving course. Actually, if given the choice between this one hour episode and 6 hours of defensive driving, defensive driving here I come. Someone please put this show and me out of my misery and end it already.

One of the worst episodes in the worst season
laddjane27 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a terrible episode, absolutely nothing actually happened. As if this season wasn't bad enough with all the stupid beach dream scenes, this episode is all Teddy's dream! I was just waiting for it to be over. Hard to decide if this is worse than the musical episode, definitely in the bottom two episodes ever!

I really hope they don't end with this awful season, because if they do I don't think I'll ever be able to rewatch Grey's again. It will be like Game of Thrones, and go from being one of my favourite shows that I have re-watched many times, to one I will never watch again.

SO GOOD
I understand why so many people didn't like it, but for me it's one of the best. Amazing directing by Kevin Mckidd and beautiful acting of Kim Raver. Important stories were told and I was glued to the scream for an entire hour. It wasn't usual Grey's, but it was necessary.
