What a sad waste
MargeZee27 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a sad waste of good actors. My main complaint with this movie is the writing. There were a lot of scenes that did not move the story along and did not contribute to the overall plot. Like the girl visits for a week and now she has to help at the family's cafe and learn all the different coffee flavors and stuff. And you're like why?! She's just there for a freaking week! Just doesn't make sense at all.

Good feelings
h_ghaffari20 May 2021
The story is predictable. I've seen hundred movies like it, but the point is the positive feelings that it creates inside us. Full of beautiful views. It was a prefect and safe movie for all the family members. Consider it, the movie is good enough to get score between 6 and 7, but it's not a masterpiece or something. Believe it or not, it can bring good emotions to your mind and heart.

Another small town festival and broke family cafe
hallmarkmov24 May 2021
Following the hallmark template, the girl goes home after her dad is injured, gets roped into helping with the town's festival, and finds out her family cafe is going bankrupt- how will it end?!! You probably already guessed it and are correct. I always find it strange how could do much not be done yet for the festival when it is days away?! We barely see her painting and yet this massive backdrop is completed in a matter of seconds it seems. A couple of the side characters look alike and that led to some confusion as I couldn't tell who was who. The leads have some playful chemistry although it was weird they didn't know each other when they both grew up there? I also didn't understand what she did for a living, even until the end I had no idea what it was- project manager or something where she made spreadsheets and told people what to do? It seemed she never worked in the cafe and the way she "saves" her family cafe from going broke didn't make sense either. Overall, an enjoyable movie.

Another dud
drbreakwell19 April 2021
Again Hallmark dropped the ball on this movie. The daughter is a clutz for a person who is supposed to be a highly respected project manager. The story lines are always predictable. Hallmark has made excellent murder mystery series, perhaps they should continue along that genre.

Not great, not terrible
Jackbv12323 March 2022
There is a lot of the usual formula stuff in this movie. Woman goes home to help family with dad's injury, sister's imminent childbirth and broke family cafe. Meanwhile she considers a job promotion in far away London. Of course she meets a guy and has to work closely with him for a Founder's Day event. The misunderstanding that creates friction at the climax is slightly unusual but only in the details. Put it all together and the story has no great highs or lows or surprises.

I like Brittany Bristow. She is good with the role of winsome young woman. Amber has limited talents especially in traditional female roles, but her personality is appealing. I thought Bristow and Corey Sevier connected with quiet chemistry supported by a good amount of screen time. So I was content to enjoy their relationship despite a lackluster story.

Several reviewers (dis)credit Hallmark but Reel One Entertainment supports Lifetime and Hallmark. I saw this on UpTV and I think I would have noticed if it was aired on Hallmark.

Boring and unrelatable
rhonnie-4313919 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was just so fake. The story was totally boring. The characters had no chemistry. There was no real emotion. I wish I had changed the channel instead of sitting through it hoping it would get better. It didn't.

Did anyone notice how sad the event was? There was like 10 people attending. Did you notice every time the female lead turned around there was the male lead. Like there is no one else in the town. Borderline stalking 😂.

I wouldn't waste my time if I were you unless there is absolutely positively nothing else that you can do with your life for those two hours.

Typical love story about "home" but still a pretty good
zakuro223 August 2021
I think this is a good movie. Having been made during the pandemic makes it even better! I thought the stars were very good together. The fall scenery was beautiful and I always like movies that are made in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I think you should watch and decide for yourself if you enjoy it.

Non-stop and over-the-top
tuttley-045532 May 2021
The movie had so much going on. In the course of one week Amber is offered a promotion to become a director even though she babbles like a ninny and can't make a decision, she returns to her hometown to help her parents run their cafe but has no experience as a barista, design and paint a mural because she's an artist who hasn't painted in a while, design and paint a shirt, sell one of her paintings, travel to a nearby city to fight the rent increase for the cafe, babysit her nephew, go on several outings with the leading man including a visit to her grandmother's home, and fall in love. Enter her counterpart who is a Jack-of-all-trades and helps everyone for free and even though he is a descendant of the Founders of Whitbrooke, he didn't grow up there. So I have to wonder if the writer(s) spun a wheel of cliches and then said "we should give these characters speed so that they are always happy, take on more responsibilities than humanly possible, and everybody is so nice to one another...but we'll take out the part where she has perform an emergency tracheotomy because THAT might be unrealistic."

Unnatural dialogue
EPMD5716 August 2021
The script and acting were not good. Everything from the word choice to the fake delivery to the lack of conversation flow felt completely unnatural. Even something as silly as every character referring to their own sister as "Sis" just felt off.

And the nephew -- I just can't with the nephew! "My aunt Amber's pretty, ISN'T SHE??????" Please, all future Hallmark movie writers, just stop it with the awkward kid moments. No one is watching these movies for them.

And for good measure, Hallmark included their usual whimsical music to drive every viewer crazy within the first 20 minutes. If you can watch this entire movie then you're a true diehard!

Loved this movie, adorable. Somewhat predictable yet different. They need to make a sequel.

Terrible continuity
teika-7510628 April 2021
Wow, clearly this was made quickly. Terrible overdubbing and continuity, and while normally I enjoy both lead actors, the overacting became tiresome very quickly. Looks like the whole thing was shot and produced in a weekend. Give this one a pass, unless you really have nothing else left to watch.

I couldn't make it past the first 25 minutes
breemoria19 April 2021
Didn't like ANY of the cast. It was over-acted and the writing was deplorable. The premise of passing up an amazing promotion to run a parent's restaurant for 2 weeks is ridiculous. I moved on to something better.

NOT hallmark quality
toniford-5825030 August 2021
I confess. I love hallmark movies. But this one missed the mark. To me, it was more comparable to the line up of romantic movies produced by super channel which are, by far, inferior. The writing was awkward and the acting stilted, although how the actors could have done better with such a terrible script is beyond me. Sad to say I couldn't even watch the whole thing.

Another Piece of.......
smplatt-3119422 August 2021
I found it odd that the lead came home, hugged mom and fawned on nephew, but not her sister who's pregnant or her father. The dubbing someone mention, seriously they could have tried a bit harder on that one, it's the worst I've seen in a long time. Anyone screaming sequel, once was enough!

What century is this?
johanohammar16 September 2023
Maybe the movie could have been good but when Amber is first mocked for being "from the city" when she has no cash and then abandons the life that she was so happy about, it went down the drain for me.

Corey Sevier often comes across as a either insensitive or just plain stupid. He seldom shows any charisma. It's true in this movie too. It's hard to understand how Amber can abandon her dreams for Jason.

I realize that I'm probably not the target audience for this film even though I really love romantic movies. But what's really stopping these movies to move with the times? It's released in 2021 for heavens sake.
