Patty and Richard fawn over one another at Louie's Ice Cream Parlor and express how thankful they are for one another. Her friend Cynthia (Shannon Gaughan) confides in Patty that the new football captain Roddy Dawson is dying to date her, but won't because of how serious her and Richard are. Patty flips the script on Richard, saying they're too young to go steady and breaks up. Cynthia instantly sweeps in on Richard. Patty begins regretting her move. While Richard talks about his dating success, Patty is forced to invent someone named Keith Caldwell. She soon starts getting tangled in her web of deceit.
