Give it a chance... Maybe?
marwillreview6 January 2022
As a fan of the original Rebelde this show was obviously not the greatest, but I did enjoy it. The plot was good. I liked it, and it was interesting. Nostalgia pays, and bringing Pilar and Celina back was bittersweet. As for the young actors there is only four performances that stayed with me. Sebastian (Alejandro Puente), Jana (Azul Guaita), Luka (Franco Masini) & Dixon (Jeronimo Cantillo) were the standouts for me. They did an amazing job. I enjoyed the show and I do hope we get a season 2. Knowing how Netflix works. I just hope it does not get canceled.

It kept my attention and I usually know when I'm not going to enjoy a show after the first episode
pandorankitten9 May 2022
First things first, I'll say is this show kept my attention. And I'm the kind of person who feels when I'm not gonna enjoy a show after the first episode or the first 15 minutes. I liked it and Im in love with a lot of the music. I will tune in for Season 2 and maybe a Season 3 if they have it, but there's a few things that just made the show down right weird.

SPOILERS BELOW

1.) The Lodge. Okay..when the lodge took the group of students. I honestly didn't know what was going to happen to them, but what happened to them was unexpected and very like "...What? 😐" They basically kidnapped them to make them sing on camera to embarrass them... Everyone got on an instrument or mic and started singing and playing "against their will". And while they were doing that, the Lodge said something like "What? I can't believe they're enjoying this!" All in all, that part was very strange and cringey. They needed a different kind of drama that captures attention. Because that was not it. It kind of pulls you in though because you want to know who it is, even though there's really no point. Nothing was at stake.

2.) "We know what you did." Unless I'm missing something, the Lodge told the students that they knew what they did and that was the reason they were coming after them. When they didn't even do anything. They literally did nothing at all.

3.) Unnecessary Lying. Di-Dixon baby lied about where he came from because he wanted to be a rapper. He pretended he went through a struggle in his land, when it turned out his family was rich. Maybe I heard it wrong. It's not a big deal, but it was just downright crazy to me at least.

In conclusion, the show just felt like it was missing something. I feel as if another creative mind needs to join the writing team to give us something no other show has. I loved the Romance, the music, and the characters, (except Luka and Sebas. Their acting seemed a bit off.) I would honestly give it a watch and decide for yourself.

Def not the best, but entertaining.
silviaadom9 January 2022
This show is definitely a blend between the original Erreway and Rebelde. Very nostalgic for us Rebelde fans. The plot is predictable and the acting is definitely not the best, the performances that stand out the most are by the actors who play Luka and Sebas. Overall I'd definitely say it's a fun little watch and has the essence of the OG Rebelde universe.

it's not THAT bad... just nostalgic
siennacolucci10 January 2022
As a huge fan of the original rebelde series, i was so so excited for this to come out and didn't even try expecting for it to be at any level as good as the original. It wasn't but it wasn't as horrid as some people are making it out to be. It was so refreshing seeing pilar and celina back on my screen, as well as a colucci, even though so many people were trashing him for being exactly as a colucci would be.... it just made sm sense that mia's cousin would be the gay one it was so cute. The lesbian representation was also very cute... when it came to andi lol. The singing was obvi not as great as in the original but i loved that they brought a lot of songs back it literally filled my heart with joy. I was just so thrown off when there was a full on sex scene with like NAKED PEOPLE on my screen after just a few episodes like HELLO??? Where's the slow burn???

it's ok i guess

I mean it's a teen show about kids who sing, my expectations for it were not that high. Kinda struggled with the first three episodes, the sometimes nonsensical plot here and there etc but it was worth watching and passing away time, have never watch the original and probably never will, I doubt it's any better than the reboot! Like I said I wasn't expecting anything grand or game of thrones level of acting, it's a teen show about girl dramas and boys! The songs were great tho especially the ones MJ sang.

Not even close to the original
themoonflower6 January 2022
The acting is nice, photography too, everything supermodern, fresh and colorful~ But stories and happenings - honestly, suuper shallow.

There's not time for get to know characters on deeper level, to really connect with them, no depth of relationships and everything happens superquick.

For example, with in relationship of *old Rebelde characters, Mia and Miguel taked whole season (200+ episodes) to reach moment of "First time", following all the romance and happenings in between.

While here - in just few episodes characters having intense intercourses within a moment, after just saying few sentences to one another.

Very similar to ELITE style of serie ...

Of course, tastes are different ... but for me, as a big fan of original Rebelde, not even close.

The only positive thing I liked, is they did references and covers of old RBD songs.

In my opinion, the queerness was done in a much better way than many shows I've watched. Will forever be grateful to this show for revealing selene's existence to me.

It was good but it fell short
quiver-444644 May 2022
I liked the show it got me hooked and I watched it in one day, but the story felt that it was lacking something jani one of the main characters annoyed me her storyline felt rushed as well as MJ. Mj was my favourite character but her story line felt as though it was ignored until the final two episodes and I in the final one I did not enjoy the end to her story it was a nice final twist but it didn't feel like her character it could have gone down so much better if it was for different reasons. I have not seen the original however I feel as though this fell short and is much like most remakes soulless it feels as though it was an over used cliche. I liked the characters originally all except jani she made me cringe and it felt as though her character was being shoved down our throats however I did enjoy some of the contrasting characters but a lot felt like over sued stereotypes.

cringe
montanaa-166596 January 2022
I don't really know what to say.

The show is very pale and stereotypical.

There's a lot of bad acting, a bunch of high school musical-like moments throughout, the characters aren't very likeable and personally, I feel like you can't really build up a connection with any of them.

Im not sure what the target audience is either, cause besides the spicy sex scenes, it's mostly cringe high school bs.

It's not all bad, but it's definitely not great either.

Kind of Racy for a High School Themed Drama
PalmBeachG28 July 2022
Watched season 1 so of course I am gonna watch season 2. The prestigious high school's music department takes a turn this year when a new director takes over who is a highly regarded producer and changes up the traditional battle of the bands with only 1 top student getting chosen for a top contract to be promoted on TV at the well known red carpet top talented music award show at the end of the semester. The director has alterior motives and the students are encouraged to produce viral videos such as in real life stars do to cause media attention. The show gets extremely racy for highschool - girls are tricked into live sex videos, etc. And more, and this seems going to far for a Highschool drama IMO. Therefore taking off stars.

Drama drama drama
fausteb5 August 2022
This show is a mix of Elite and original Rebelde. Anyway, super duper Telemundo presenta. Many cringe moments. Teenagers act like adults. And I missed more music performances in the second season. But in general, it is a very catchy show, you can't go to sleep without finishing the season.

Warning: Spoilers
Such a different kind of show you don't see often, draws you in and you just can't stop watching. Season 2 was 8 stars, more depressing. Hope to see Justice for Emilia and andi in season 3, seeing as most people watch the show for them.

Cheap copy of the Spanish version
jfxfxz4 April 2022
Trying to produce a version of the Spanish Elite, the makers of this series failed. Acting, story, direction... everything is substandard. The plot is absurd. 6 stars for the music.

Original RBD Fan
ykjxvptxq6 January 2022
I did not like the series at all. I am a die hard RBD fan, and this series doesn't come close to the original show. The original show highlighted coming of age situations that were relatable. As each character came of age, they connected via music despite their diverse backgrounds. This show was a hit because it was relatable and demonstrated real life situations.

The plot for this show seems similar to Violeta the Argentinian show on Disney Channel that primarily highlighted a music school and students reaching stardom. With that being said, the new generation RBD is a copy of Violeta. Not. A. Fan

I highly recommend you all to watch the original Rebelde.

It had potential but the production was horrible.
juliannematos26 January 2022
For those of you...who like me, are a huge fan and grew up watching the original Rebelde and listening to their music then you're definitely going to be dissapointed.... I'm only half way in but all I can say is that maybebthe way the show was produced is to blame. There's literally no suspense what so ever...everything happens so fast, people were falling in love by like the 3rd episode..theres no genuine emotion to it which is what made us love the originals....the emotion behind the music and the acting. The way the would make yiu live every moment of every experience with the actors. The only positive thing about the series is that the new cast is very talented musically wise...and it's great to see some of the old cast on there. Other than that, it would have been 10 times better if they would have kept it a little bit more original and made the audience connect with the cast and storyline. Definitely missing authenticity.

Why is this a continuation?
polly_20106 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There are multiple things about this series that contradicts what the Televisa version established and this is supposed to be a contiuation of that series. Plot-holes aside this show is boring and humorless. There is very little conflict and most of characters are not given enough screen time, so we really don't get to know them. Most of the characters just come off as replicas of the Rebelde/Rebelde Way series and leave little to no impression.

The one subplot of the season had very little impact on the rest of the students and they spent too much time on an uninteresting character and a tired trope i.e the dead parent who isn't really dead.

The biggest issue is the plot of the season. A battle of the bands is not a strong enough or interesting enough to be an 8 episode plot. For a show that is supposed to be about a prestigious boarding school they focus very little on what it's like to be a student there. Furthermore the set design of the school is very dull and lacks vibrant colors. The Elite Way School used to be portrayed as one the top high schools in the country where all the rich and important people sent their kids to. Now the school is a prestigious music school that kids go to against their parents wishes.

Another complaint is that the series lacks original music. The whole premise of this show is that the students are aspiring musicians but all they do is cover songs.

This series has very little to do with the Televisa version. They tried making it its own thing but relied way too heavily on the success and nostalgia of the Mexican/Televisa version. On its own this would be a fine Disney/ nickelodeon or paramount + show. With the exception of the sex scene from episode 4 this show feels as if it's aimed at the preteen demographics.

Always open to something new but not this time ...
cristalclearfashion6 January 2022
What made RBD was the connection between the audience and the characters. When the first RBD came out it's seemed more realistic even though camera quality was not like to today they really made RBD fans believe there was a Mia, Roberta, Diego, Giovanni, Lupita, and Miguel. Should have left RBD as it was forever no need for new characters that still bring up old characters knowing that's the reason why the show got popular.

My review
brookemckinney28 July 2022
Not bad at all the acting is really good. I really liked the story lines. I like how it is a bit different from the original so it has its own time to grow and be a great show. I really Hope to see a season 3 to this show and hopefully see more into the characters and how they change throughout the show. I would like to see more about Andi and why she has a problem with her stepdad and how he feels about her.

Warning: Spoilers
So, this is garbage! The usual teen, high school drama where everyone if beautiful, rich, talented and live in a fantasy world. The acting is atrocious, and unbelievable. Every country now seems to have one of these type of shows. While a popular type of franchised genre, they are all at the same level......garbage!
