“’Christspiracy,’ the latest documentary from Kip Andersen and Kameron Waters, takes us on a philosophical journey to find out the truth in relation to Jesus and the animals,” Joaquin Phoenix, the Oscar-winning who has worked with Andersen and Waters in the past, said in a statement about “Christpiracy.” “The film explores the answer from many of the world’s religions and exposes unforgiving truths about animal cruelty in the name of religion.”

Earth Day shouldn’t be the only day we think about preserving our planet, but it comes as a helpful reminder of how precious and finite our resources are. While it has already been seven years since the United Nations came together in Paris for the COP21 — the 21st Conference of the Parties to the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (Unfccc), in which many countries forged, signed and ratified an agreement to limit greenhouse gas emissions and hold global warming below 2 degrees Celsius total, many of the films released right before the onset of Covid or during the pandemic itself hint at the continued importance of maintaining a healthy environment, most suggesting that humanity hasn’t made much progress since 2015.
Earth and nature mean many things to many people, whether it be a break from technology, a chance to practice spirituality or a mental health booster. Some people seek extreme encounters with nature,...

"The average American palette really needs to diversify." A trailer is out for a fascinating documentary film titled Fish & Men, which first premiered back in 2019. This has been playing at film festivals for the past few years and is finally ready for its official release (on VOD + DVD) starting in September this year. After the success of the Netflix doc film Seaspiracy, also about issues with fishing, this looks like a counter to that film - an even better follow-up exploring the same topics. Fish & Men exposes the high cost of cheap fish and the forces threatening local fishing communities and public health by revealing how consumer demand drives the global seafood economy. Do you know where your seafood is from? The film proposes that a new movement is underway - an opportunity to return sustainability to both fish & fishermen. Thriving on local communities, pioneering fishermen and celebrated chefs are...

The Netflix documentary on the impact of commercial fishing has received celebrity endorsements and a huge audience around the world, but it has also attracted criticism from experts who accuse it of making misleading claims
The Netflix documentary Seaspiracy, made by the team behind the award-winning 2014 film Cowspiracy, critiques the idea of sustainable fishing and accuses the industry of using slave labour and other human rights abuses.
The 90-minute film is one of the 10 most watched Netflix programmes and has been praised by celebrities including Bryan Adams. The Guardian’s George Monbiot is among those interviewed in the film, and he tells Anushka Asthana that it shines a light on some of the murkiest aspects of the fishing industry that have been under-reported in the media.

The promise of an actual theatrical blockbuster, “Godzilla vs. Kong,” seems to have thrown the VOD charts into stasis. All three of the current #1 titles on four VOD charts also held top spots last week, with no new or reduced price offerings giving much competition.
“Monster Hunter” remains #1 at GooglePlay, and is the only title to rank on all four lists. Paul W.S. Anderson’s film, initially PVOD but now at standard pricing, has been #1 on all of the charts at different times. Worldwide theatrical gross is $30 million (on a reported $60 million budget), but its strong home performance could make up the loss.
“Promising Young Woman” stayed at #1 at AppleTV, where viewer preferences suggest a more upscale crowd. Focus’ reduction to standard pricing was well timed against its Oscar nominations.
“The Little Things” claimed the #1 spot on multiple charts. It tops revenue-tracking FandangoNow and Spectrum Cable, which lists by transactions.
