Bollywood Saviour

Visually appealing and well made horror comedy . Story was simple and predictable , but these kinda concept is new to Bollywood and Indian cinema . Comedy worked well and never felt over the top in any place , especially Abhishek Banerjee did great . Screenplay was bit slow , similar to Stree kinda pace . Main positive was breathe taking visuals , cinematography was great , terrific VFXs and CGI , and 3D effect literally lifted up the whole experience . Music and songs were good . Cast did their job well . Overall , visually delivered a Hollywood experience and good entertainer to watch . Don't miss it to watch it on Big screen .

Bollywood Saviour !

Don't miss the mid credit scene .

Available in regional languages too.....

( Still can't believe they made this movie in 60crs budget )

It's an okay movie - don't miss the end scenes
FanOfSuperHeroes26 November 2022
It's an average movie you can watch. It's not too much over the top as well as not that thumbs down type of movie. It's an okay movie.

Most importantly for those who are Stree fans, you don't want to miss the end credit scene. They have made the ending like Marvel Cinematic Universe does buy this time in a horror universe. So, it's a good movie to watch.

First of all, I would like to the praise the actors and supporting actors in the movie. They did splendid job, all of them.

Second of all, it creates excitement with unique story.

But I will cut one star for copied concept of warewolf.

I will cut one more star for making some awkward scenes in the middle that were completely unnecessary.

I will give the thumbs up for cameos, specially Shraddha Kapoor, which is already revealed in the film trailer. There are more cameos.

I hated the actual sequel, besides the end credits. Story wise, it's an okay movie.

So, I will rate this movie 7 out of 10.

Could not reach its true potential
Biswas_27 November 2022
BHEDIYA is definitely a unique, never seen before experience in Bollywood but surprisingly it never really reached its true potential and manages only half of it.

The story was predicted right from when the trailer dropped and ya, it's the same but with a slight twist. A man , in to destroy a forest ,turning into wolf to kill anyone that is involved with this project, pretty predictable story.

The only thing that comes as a twist is the 2nd wolf (which too many can predict, maybe some can't ).

The reason why the story never reaches its true potential is the weak writing. The comedy shockingly does not really work always and ya, as i said before, the story is not something unique but the concept is. Often the film slows down which is why you are not always invested in the film.

The use of wolves to communicate a message was unique, although the message is not. VFX is just top class after Brahmastra. The scenes where we get close ups of VD transforming into a wolf is amazing and even horrifying seeing the half human half wolf face of VD , that look can be used in horror films. The wolves itself are rendered pretty well. Cinematography is top class especially in the jungles and that final climax scene at the edge of the hill is really heart breaking and emotional, probably the highlight of the film !

Another reason why the film never really reached its true potential was that the film spends too much time in the wrong places but what instead it should have spent more time is exploring the back story of these Bhediyas which unfortunately is just explained in 15 seconds. This is what was the heart of the film. Show us more of what happened to Sharad kelkar and his kid. Show us a little more of their journey. Show us more of the Bhediyas and their past . Sadly, none is shown .

Songs, can be skipped. Thumkeshwari song is at the end and does not make much sense to include it even there considering how the film ended.

Overall, Bhediya is a one time decent watch but i was a little disappointed considering this film looked really promising but delivered only half of it.

Unique & Fun!!!!
shaikhirshad-4122326 November 2022
First of all hatts of to the director Amar Kaushik for creating this new creature comedy story and presenting in front of audience. Not everybody's has perfection in this type of stories. Well talking about the story 1st half start on a good note but the story drags a little bit in the 1st half because of less characters in the movie. But still you'll be excited what happens next. Interval moment of this movie is mind blowing the character arc and the fear of Bhediya will be seen in the interval part plus second half is totally gripping and amazing to watch. There are 2 surprises at the end of the movie 1st is climax twist and 2nd is the mid credit. Don't get up from your seat till you watch it. Talking about performance VARUN DHAWAN just nailed it he dips it into the character and perfectly fits in the role. Kriti sanon as well the rest of the cast are justifying. Well if we compare with Stree yeah it's definitely has the touch but in comparison stree is ahead because of the storyline. Bhediya doesn't have much to offer in the story but the Visuals are way better than any Bollywood creature film. You can definitely watch it one time with your family and friends... (7/10)

Compelling, Congenial, Amusing

Compelling, Congenial, Amusing

Bhediya is brave attempt in the creature film category by the makers of Stree. Led by a noteworthy performance of Varun Dhawan, the film rides high on brilliantly placed gags, spooky set pieces and wonderfully shot cinematography of the Arunachal Pradesh forests. The first half takes time to setup , gradually progresses with solid screenplay but the second half seemed a bit sluggish but doesn't bother too much. The film adds sensitive topics like effects of deforestation and discrimination against north eastern Indians with much care.

A film which is self aware and knows its limits needed great supporting actors for its tonality to establish firmly. Varun Dhawan has improved leaps and bounds and personally according to me his performance is praiseworthy. Abhishek Banerjee is the heart of all the gags and fun in the film. Does most of the heavy duty in terms of the comedy scenes. Paalin Kabak as a debutant is amazing, he adds the right sensitivity his character demanded from his as a local and his performance is equally commendable. Kriti's is brilliant in her role but her character is extremely undercooked and needed more depth and importance. Deepak Dobriyal solid.

BHEDIYA is a refreshing & novel attempt bolstered by Amar's fantastic treatment, memorable performances by the entire cast & VFX which matches global standards. With ample elements of gags, spookiness & an thumping background score this film delivers fun as expected.

Hilarious Entertainer..!!!
rehman-3896025 November 2022
Amar kaushik is back again with new Wolf concept. Usually not seen much.

Storytelling is too good. Varun Dhawan did an excellent job, Kriti was good and rest of Star cast suited there characters.

I really really enjoyed this movie. Awesome story telling, this movie of visual is outstanding. VFX was on level of Hollywood standards. Good justification of movie, all the characters are good, overall well developed script something new after years.

Amar kaushik cracked the code of Horror + Comedy + Storytelling

Watch this Hilarious movie. It's very entertaining. It seems Bollywood has started giving good movies.

VISUALLY amazing but PROBLEM in writing.
MandalBros-528 May 2023
When you want to give some messages to the audience within a genre film, it shouldn't be straightforward. The film primarily should be focused on that genre. Bhediya is a Horror-Comedy, but both these elements didn't work well in the film. Only Stree successfully did this, both Roohi & Bhediya failed in writing.

But, there are too many positives things also in Bhediya. Visually the film is amazing. All the jungle scenes or specially the transformation scenes were too good. And Varun acted brilliantly in these scenes. Songs by Sachin-Jigar were good and the BGM was perfect. Lastly, thanks to Maddock for Bhediya, maybe in future we'll get more of like these with better writing.

Howlariously funny and preaching
pranayjalvi27 November 2022
The Stree duo of producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik reunite to deliver a film that is substantially more than just yet another horror-comedy. It is in certain ways in the same zone as the 2018 film but is markedly different in spirit, substance and style.

The plot of Bhediya is a blend of folklore with a twist. Apart from picking up threads from the werewolf universe, the story also sends a strong message about the environmental damage our forests are facing. Despite having a bonafide Bollywood A-lister at its core, what stands out in Bhediya is the visual experience it offers, although there were scenes with lack of quality CGI used, however it is very improved one than one we have seen in recent times for other films.

Performances feel genuine and Kaushik's USP of infusing humour and wit at the right moments helps in keeping the narrative engaging and entertaining. Varun Dhawan is the lead, but the performance by Abhishek Banerjee won my heart. While the first half was good enough , it's the second half where all the action lies. Even there, the pace gets a little slow in between with some scenes looking needlessly dragged and stretched, but then Varun's scenes as a wolf and Abhishek's comedy keeps you cracking up for most of the time. After the mishap of Roohi, Bhediya delivers what we are expecting from Dinesh Vijan's horro-comedy universe.

My Rating : 8.5/10.

GOOD ATTEMPT!!!
nasirshaikh-7036626 November 2022
When it's trailer was released, I was very excited to watch it because it wasn't a typical bollywood movie. In trailer we saw how they have focused on every minor detail about what would be the effects on a man after bitten by a wolf. There was one more thing I was excited for was it's VFX. Today after watching the movie I can say I'm not disappointed at all. I mean the movie could have been much better but it's ok. First of all I would like to talk about its plus points like the VFX were good, performance of the actors and humour was also good. I liked how they didn't stretched the love story part like BRAHMASTRA. There are some negative points also like the story and screenplay could have been better but overall I would say it's a good movie.

Could be more hilarious
sameerlodaya25 November 2022
Sameer lodaya

The movie could be more hilarious

The concept was good but they could had added more humour to make it a better one..they have added humour to the story but it was very less and of low quality..all the songs were good..Varun was better than his last film jug jug jiyo and Kirti was just a show piece .. Abhishek played a good supporting role

The makers are the same who had made STREE which is a mark in Bollywood but here they were much less a lot of time they wasted in animals and nature love now this nature love concept is very common now a days

The focused should be on HUMOUR..I don't think it will appeal in masses..children could like it.

Varun is back in charm after badlapur
raashidmusa26 November 2022
This is what Bollywood needs in these times. The acting of both lead actors are far far better then their previous movies. Varun gave his best and the aura of his character is much visible which was last seen only in badlapur. Kirti gave her best and the short cut is so suitable for the character . Her role is quite short but that itself speak volumes. Now if we talk about the side characters, the langa tyagi of patal lok is marvelous in this movie. His comic timing is what holds you to stick to your seats till the end. Basically the movie has all the elements which are the need of an hour. Its is definitely a worthy to watch.

Terrific Comedy!
0FilterT20 December 2022
Very entertaining and its fun to watch Varun Dhawan in his comedic element. Excellent direction and writing with a good balance of horror and comedy. Background score is good as well. Support cast shines and brings the humour with perfect timing. Vfx and cinematography is good too except for some of the night shots. The werewolf transformation looked really good screen with Varun doing the maximum to make the shots look good. The only disconnect, visually, is the CGI forest doesn't quite match the live action one. The length of the film I'is maybe 15-20 mins too long with slow songs in the second half dampening the pace. Overall, very entertaining and recommended to watch on the big screen if you can still catch it.

A horror comedy which is neither horror nor comedy
arpankumar-7810027 November 2022
From beginning to end just a very few moments of fun, it's like paying and regretting.

Extremely boring show, not at all horror, no suspense. Really obvious story since beginning itself, superficial plot. I don't think writer had any relation with practicality.

I respect the message of nature conservation bring portrayed but disappointed by story The story begins with 'Bhediya' and ends at the same.

Even side stories are neither very well showed and are nor very interesting too.

I felt sleepy throughout the show, Most of the people were just using the phone like they paid not for the show but AC.

Not recommended.

Good message lake story line.
Dpbwmk11 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This movie came with so many very good message. And concept, cinematography is just ok. But story line isn't much strong enough. It's pretty common...

Also Pork and Beef meat industries are top most biggest reason for deforestation and director support pork meat. So, it's little bit confusing. [(By the way Pigs are one of the top 5/6 most intelligent animal and they're most sensative animal too, 3 times more than dogs and 6 times more than cats.)]

Abhishek's acting is good than Varun Dhawan. Colour grading is ok. But graphic quality aren't good though..

Overall movie is good to watch, but not for many times.....

2nd half could've been better
itsme_gk8 June 2023
Great first half. Not bad VFX for the budget of the movie. Funny too. Actors did well esp Abhishek Banerjee. Nice build up then the second half, when it's supposed to blow up, it becomes slower.

The writers could've done better. The second half is contradicting with its first half. In the first half, the local people and authority love and respect nature but they're shown as villains in the second half. The writers could've brought other outsiders to portray as bad guys or sth. Great opportunity missed

Still not bad. I gave 6 just for the freshness and effort in the first half and small details like varuns werewolfy look with the beard goes with the story, Kriti's hair style suits her character, enough details to show varuns work as a road contractor, etc.

Awesome movie must watch
roshanarhan25 November 2022
The movie is a perfect blend of thriller and comedy. The love story in the movie looks natural and not forced. The VFX of the movie is one of the best. The transformation and the VFX of wolf was amazing to watch.

Acting of Varun Dhawan is to be praised. While the comedy of the movie works most of the time. The acting of other actors were also on point.

The post credit scene of the movie is an absolute treat to watch and the beginning of the Dinesh vijan horror comedy universe.

Had potentials, ruined by bad storyline.
manzurshabbir2 July 2023
Was a fun watch, could be far better than what it is. Writing was not good to be honest. VFX was not bad, they tried many unique elements. Besides, some locations looked really fake. Could've avoided them, was not really needed for the storyline. Some jokes could have been written better. I know, the movie is totally based on mysterious things and all, still it should have been a bit realistic. That would have made the audience believe in the subject more. The song at last was not needed, the money could have been invested in shooting some shots in real locations, I believe.

Good wishes to Maddock Films, hope they bring better and better movies in this horror-comedy universe.

Watch it for Bhediya.
azadpathak00726 November 2022
Awesome CGI. Bhediya (wolf, CGI) is amazing. Do watch it for the CGI. Story is not that amazing but has social messages like North East India issue, Environmental issues etc.

Give a watch. Not time/money wasting.

I think they are going to make a universe of their own.

Don't miss the scenes after the credits. Wait for the end scenes they are also good.

Acting: Varun Dhawan, Deepak Dobriyal and other known actors have done satisfactory performance. Some comedy is also there but not as much as seen in Stree. But the North East actors have done a very good job. Their acting was very natural. Public shown was speaking in their own language, that was also good.

CGI: Best part of the movie. Even the movements were so natural, like the Bhediya looks left right even for the smallest movement while walking.

Music : Good.

Direction : Very Good.

Story : Good.

Great movie, Awesome Visuals.... but Lengthy
Ketch_Rajath26 November 2022
Bhediya is a second installment of Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe. This movie expands the universe with new characters.

Though the plot of the movie was simple and the runtime of the movie was also bit more, but the visual effects blew my mind.

Visual & background score are the highlight of the movie, but humor-comedy was very less compared to previous movies of Amar Kaushik.

Coming to acting department Varun Dhawan gave his best performance, Abhishek Banerjee was also amazing with his humor-comedy.

Climax of the movie was predictable but to watch it visually was amazing.

Also they gave us a surprise with post credit scene.

The Horror Universe Seems To Be In Trouble Again. They Desperately Need Stree Back!
SAMTHEBESTEST26 November 2022
Bhediya (2022) : Movie Review -

8 decades after George Waggner's iconic werewolf film, "The Wolf Man" (1941), Amar Kaushik takes up the same subject for a social message set in the forests of Arunachal Pradesh. Varun Dhawan gets into the shoes of Lon Chaney Jr.'s memorable character of a werewolf, while Kriti Sanon is not what the other ladies played in that film. Kaushik's horror universe started on a solid note with "Stree" (2018), but then the humdrum attempt by Hardik Mehta, "Roohi" (2021), brought black clouds of tension over the emerging cinematic universe. I really thought that Amar Kaushik was the only person who could have brought the horror universe back on track, but it seems that I was putting up a lot of expectations on him. Bhediya tries too hard to become Stree (with a creature instead of a ghost), but surrenders to its inorganic humour and repetitive conflicts.

Bhediya tells the story of Bhaskar (Varun Dhawan), who goes to Arunachal Pradesh to acquire a land set in the jungle. Bhaskar gets bitten by a wolf at a very special yet magical night that happens once a year in a special place (don't ask where, if you have seen it in the trailer). The Bhediya's bite makes him stronger, and he senses the characteristics of the wolf, therefore turning into a werewolf at full moon nights. His friends and Dr. Anika (Kriti Sanon) try to find a way to turn him back into a human. Bhaskar and his friends meet a gypsy (yes yes, the same kind of gypsy sorcerer Maria Ouspenskaya played in The Wolf Man), who gives them a brainstorming but funny idea as an antidote. Will Bhaskar succeed, or will there be any more surprises in store for him?

Bhediya is the same story of the werewolf bundled into socialism's package. It's not that it is a copy of The Wolf Man or a remake; we have that tale from an ancient period in our books; it's just that George Waggner's film was the first cinematic adaptation of the legendary horror tale. What Niren Bhatt has done with Bhediya is that he has Indianized the story with comic surroundings and funny characters, a boring romance, and banal cultural lectures, and the mix is somewhat messy. Unlike Stree, Bhediya is barely funny. A lot of drags and flaws in the screenplay make you lose grip over the narrative, and then you start finding diversion by checking out 3D glasses, rearranging them, and cleaning them. A flawless screenplay like Stree comes once in a decade, and as we have seen horror comedies like Roohi, Bhoot Police, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Phone Bhoot fail to match it, we might have to wait until 2028. Or will Stree 2 make a surprise entry before the scheduled time?

Varun Dhawan transforms into Bhediya, and all those scenes give you chills. However, the comic timing and rest of the appearance remain average. He just seemed like a miscast or miswritten character for a moment. Post Mimi, everyone started taking Kriti Sanon seriously. Even though she had roles like Hum Do Hamare Do and Bachcchan Paandey, we still believed that she could get back to Mimi's Zone anytime she wanted if the script allowed. Well, Bhediya is not that script. Actually, it doesn't even provide her with regular screen time. That's so unfortunate, even if she had a big surprise in store for the fans. There are only two guys who look, sound, and behave funny in the film, and they are Abhishek Bannerjee and Deepak Dobriyal. The rest of the cast hardly appears to be performing, so let's not discuss the names here.

Talking about 3D effects, Bhediya jumps high. The film is designed for 3D viewing, and the scenes are shot keeping that in mind. The visual effects are good, especially the werewolf transformation scenes (yeah, they might remind you of Rahul Roy's Junoon). The background score and music work in parts. Jungle Mein Kaand is a time-pass number; Baaki Sab Theek is a friendly rap number; and Apna Bana Le is melodious but comes at the wrong time. Jishnu Bhattacharjee's cinematography will show you the beautiful nature from the top view, side view, and even the night view. Amar Kaushik as a director has got a step lower than Stree and Bala. Come on, man, this was not expected from you. We hardly have one or two promising directors from the younger generation in Bollywood, and when one of them is doing faith-breaking work like this, it definitely hurts the movie buff in me.

Bhediya could have been cleaner and sharper, but Kaushik does unnecessary and unwanted stuff to bring it down. That organic humor, like Stree and Bala, is badly missing. Don't see any reasons why someone like Amar Kaushik would need the kind of "below the belt" humour and cheap jokes we see in Sajid Khan or Farhad Samji movies. Bhediya couldn't hunt that myth of Bollywood filmmakers and, hence, remains at an average height. This one was expected to reach the top of the roof but jumped down somewhere close to the side windows. Watch it for some laughs and a few visually amazing scenes. Dinesh Vijan's horror universe seems to be in trouble again. They desperately need Stree back!

RATING - 5/10*

At first heard a lot from other audience who watched early shows and went to theatre to experience it for myself and I was blown away ..amazing blend of VFX,Stunning Visuals,Local folkores,One liner comedy, coupled with great message about Environment and culture of least known Northeast India...This was a breath of fresh air for the Hindi film industry,The cast from Northeast ( Arunachal) was equally good ,the director bring born and brought up in Arunachal very well tried to portray accurately .This kind of movie is the need of the hour which can save Bollywood. Good one, But ... and their is big "But"
magadalwarmayur25 November 2022
The problem with the film is the promotion of the film they promoted as horror comedy but it is neither comedy nor horror dont get me wrong the comedy is good but not as i expected and very little the story is also way more serious than the trailer projected.

The cinematography & special effects are effective but the tone or 'laugh riot' like treatment is not consistent at all.

It can be appreciated for its attempt at something inventive and original but the comedic punchlines are a hit and a miss.

Overall its Just an average time at the movies.

But given the fact that It's connected to the larger stree universe and bollywood atleast attempting to work better resources, trying to push projects like this, needs support. If you're up for it, go for it.

Horror Fail
lakshmishaks8816 January 2023
"Bhediya" - a movie that tries to be a horror-comedy but ends up being a horror-fail. I've seen better acting in a high school play. The story is so convoluted and nonsensical, I couldn't keep up. The special effects are straight out of a 90's B-movie and the dialogue is so bad, it's laughable.

Only Kriti Sanon tries her best to carry the movie but it's like trying to carry a boulder up a mountain. The supporting cast is equally underwhelming, and the "big reveal" of the werewolf is so predictable, it's not even a spoiler.

The movie tries to tackle important issues like deforestation and animal rights, but it's so poorly executed, it comes across as insincere and lazy. The ending is so rushed and unsatisfying, it left me feeling like I wasted my time and money.

In short, if you want to watch a good horror-comedy, don't waste your time on "Bhediya". It's a 2 out of 10 and that's being generous. Save yourself the headache and watch something else.

Need more movies like this
spotboyfilms26 November 2022
Amar Kaushik's Bhediya is an entertaining watch. It is a heavy handed with the environmental messaging at times, but other things going on in the story take more importance. Abhishek Banerjee is the source of most of the humor in the story and delivers a pretty good performance- although a bit one-track.

The locations and effects work of the film are quite good. Some things in the story are ungrounded like having a super-awesome dance number with waving spotlights in what is supposedly a remote area. I wish they had chosen more real locations than CGI when demonstrating the awesomeness of nature.

The plot twist in the film is surprising and well-earned, it certainly explains a lot of previously inexplicable moments.

Varun Dhawan's performance is "okay" - he is a product of nepotism and it is what it is- but a better actor could have elevated the film significantly.

Dinesh Vijan, the producer, must be applauded for continuing to make films that matter and the type of stories that he brings forth to the masses. Remember his name.

Amar Kaushik, in Stree, was much more precise with his direction and effects work - less is more. His direction is not as razor sharp focused in Bhediya. I would have liked a leaner, tighter story and edit.

6/10 and an extra star for Originality- so 7/10.

A truely Indian werewolf
suprabhattacharya26 November 2022
Bhediya is termed as a Indian werewolf film by many, but the actual film borrows nothing else other than "man turns wolf" portion from its foreign counterparts ,rather the film has strong Indian roots and contexts in every aspects,be it the popular desi cinema references, the age old Indian folklore or the regional bias etc.

Niren Bhatt(writer of the film) doesn't keep it too subtle while making the social commentaries on nature preservation or the north eastern bias .The commentary also isn't particularly impactful as it dilutes down as the film progresses.

Labelled as a horror-comedy but the film doesn't even try to spook the audiences at the slightest, the comedy is also slapstick and filled with one-liners which works in some places and feels redundant in others. That being said, the film works in many departments also. The cinematography is spectacular,it brings forth the beautiful and pristine nature of Arunachal, and tempts us to go there. Sachin Jigar 's atmospheric background music perfectly blends with the plot and its premise. The vigorous and on point work in vfx is thorougly appreciable. The wolf transformation scenes are really great ,which reflects the sincere work in department and is easily the main highlight of the film.

The story though interesting on a surface level, the script is not .The comic one-liners becomes monotonous after a period of time ,and lowers the gravity in some scenes where it is required. The story doesn't even try to delve deeper into the social commentaries it provides. The character transitions in the end seems very abrupt and hurried and the climax is also very underwhelming.

Dhawan as a lead has done a decent job and among the side characters,Abhishek Banerjee's performance is surely a winner. His comic timing is spectacular and for him only, several cliched scenes becomes memorable. As for pop culture references,I really enjoyed some of them and frankly some of them are really smartly placed in the narrative.

Now people who loved "Stree",(director's debut and an another horror comedy) will be slighly disappointed."Stree" was an almost perfect mash up of horror and comedy, with none of the two eclipsing the other but "Bhediya" works predominantly as a comedy film with a supernatural premise, nothing more nothing less.

It may be also harsh to dismiss "Bhediya" as a film,it has many redeeming factors and most importantly it's first of it's kind.
