On Monday 27th August 1883, in late morning GMT+7, Krakatoa erupted in Indonesia. The sound wave traveled around the earth seven times, and yet this incredible event was completely absent from the narrative.
While correct that the pressure waves are recorded as having circled the globe and tsunami waves are recorded to have rocked ships as far as South Africa approx. 5,500 miles away, the audible "sound" waves are recorded as travelling approx. 3,000 miles at the most. Montana is approx. 9,000 miles from Krakatoa.

The principal characters have very straight and insanely white teeth for the 1883 time period.
Much of the costuming does not fit the time period, though only off by a decade. For instance, the wrist cuffs worn by Wade and the batwing chaps worn by Shea and Thomas did not come around until 1890. Neither the cuffs nor the chaps would typically be worn in town, as they're only needed on the trail and are incredibly hot to wear. Wooly chaps would not be seen in Texas, as they were for extra cold weather.
While the series tries to present what we now accept as the common sense notion of racial equality, the fact is that in Fort Worth in 1883 a black man would not be allowed into a white saloon, or to walk on the same sidewalk as a white, or to hold his head up in the middle of town. The civil war might have been over, but oppression, such as the Jim Crow laws, had barely begun to rise.
