Could have been SO MUCH MORE

Warning: Spoilers
I think that had this story been given two episodes instead of one, it could have went down as a work of art. The setup of not knowing until the squigglers attack is an ingenious use of Kinos. The final twist that the second timeline isnt the final one is a good one too...the fact that the resolution is done in a webisode is just short of criminal.

As it is, a greater examination of the planet on the first timeline would set the setting better...a better fleshing out of the bacteria from the Ice story would have made it less than a plot contrivance, and an actual resolution would have been worth a lot.

I disagree that this was a "typical" time travel story, I think that its inventive process and the horror of the squigglers could have made this into a GREAT episode.

Now THIS was a good episode. Normally I find the use of the kino annoying for video documenting. This is one of those instances where it actually works well. The story of this episode is worthy of SGU.

They arrive on a planet hoping to collect something to eat. A couple of them fall ill and no one knows why. The gate begins to malfunction trapping them on the planet. It turns out that a solar flare disrupted the gate and caused the wormhole to loop back to the same gate but at a different point in time. They determine that the disease came from the previous planet they visited in episode 6. They also figure out that the deadly creatures on the planet can actually cure the disease.

This was actually one of the better episodes of SGU. Straight up sci-fi from beginning to end.

Interesting for Science Fiction fans.

I enjoyed this episode a lot. Interesting twists that were done in unique ways. So far I've been pleasantly surprised by SGU. There are just enough references to the original show to keep long term fans happy, but it also works as a stand alone series.

Seems strange that some people review shows they hate. Personally I don't watch shows that I would rate as a 1.

Horrible Cliché' Time Travel episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Not too much of a spoiler here other than to say, wow, time travel with in the first 8 episodes, way to go. I have always found that time-travel plots can be the flat out worst of all sci-fi stories, usually done when they can't figure out where to go next. They basically land on a planet of Stargate like bugs while they have a fever and then start watching video of them talking for minutes on end from their non-real future selves. Nothing was really learned other than they have horrible microscopes and are most likely one of the worst crews ever to go out in space.

Did I mention I hate time travel. Time travel episodes only work when they have fun with them or try and be unique. This is so cliché', it actually cause a bend in space time and went back in time and created the term cliché.
