The Blue Bloods Cancellation Is Still Infuriating. Will Fans Be Consoled by a Satisfying Conclusion?
The time we've been dreading is almost here, Blue Bloods fans. The end of the Reagan dynasty.
Cancel culture is real, and it's taken over the film industry. While old shows are getting reboots and remakes, our long-term favorites are getting kicked to the curb.
Sadly, we're about to see another great show bite the bullet. As if it wasn't difficult enough for fanatics to say goodbye to characters who have been with us for seasons, like Swat, Station 19, and The Good Doctor, there's more.
And this time, it hits close to home.
The Blue Bloods series has given us a semblance of family, of a system where the good guys win, justice prevails, and real issues don't just matter -- they're addressed and solved.
It has stood out as a beacon of hope for a better future while incorporating real-world scenarios. The characters depict everything we admire and...

In his short break from movies, The Rock has utilized the time with utmost productivity. Certainly, The Rock has a lot on his plate now as he took over the Board of Directors of WWE’s parent company, Tko Holdings. Beyond that, he also owns several businesses including his production company, Seven Bucks Productions; tequila brand, Teremana Tequila; energy drink company Zoa Energy; Project Rock apparel brand and newly launched, the United Football League.

Amid that, The Rock has been a full-time movie star and has a series of slates attached that are yet to move to production. So, being a part-time wrestler, he is most likely to disappear from the arena for a while, but before that, one female superstar complimented The Rock.

Robert Englund steps into the director’s chair with ‘976-Evil,’ a dark dive into Satanism and demonology where a bullied outcast uses an occult hotline to bite back.
“Out of the darkness and into light, comes your horrorscope on this dark and stormy night.”
Robert Englund is a name who needs no introduction in the horror community. He’s played Freddy Krueger in eight A Nightmare on Elm Street movies and has brought life to one of the horror genre’s greatest icons. Englund’s incomparable work as Krueger would be enough to forever make him a celebrity, but he’s had a rich horror career that’s included multiple roles in Tobe Hooper films and, more recently, his standout performance as Victor Creel in the streaming phenomenon, Stranger Things. Englund will always be Freddy Krueger, but it’s curious to consider how his career would have been different if...

The New Hollywood revolution was raging in 1971, and studios were rapidly transitioning from old-school leadership to boat-rocking up-and-comers who seemed to have the pulse of the Baby Boomer-driven counterculture. The age of star-studded mega-musicals and old-fashioned oaters was over; movies didn't necessarily need a serrated edge to slash into the zeitgeist, but even a weepie like Arthur Hiller's "Love Story" boasted a lived-in verisimilitude. These films, shorn of backlot artifice, were happening in the real world.
Young moviegoers weren't the only ones craving authenticity. John Schlesinger's "Midnight Cowboy" couldn't have been voted Best Picture of 1969 without significant support from gray-haired Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences members. This was a film that plunged viewers into the seamiest iteration of New York City ever captured by a studio movie, that dealt with issues of sex work and homosexuality so unflinchingly that the MPAA (now known as MPA) gave it an X-rating.

This post contains spoilers for the "Resident Evil" film franchise.
Umbrella Corporation. The name will forever be associated with unsavory, downright evil acts within the "Resident Evil" universe, catalyzing the events that define the franchise. Although Capcom's "Resident Evil" games have their own set of canonical events concerning Umbrella Corp., the film adaptations that branched into their own universe also paint this multinational conglomerate in a rather infamous light. In every iteration, Umbrella is never up to any good: be it the manufacture and mass production of biological weaponry, or ushering a new race of virus-enhance monstrosities. At the end of the day, the "Resident Evil" films also fit the survival-horror mold, with a woman named Alice (Milla Jovovich) at the center of the horrors crafted by none other than Umbrella.

Based on Brock Yates' book "Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races, the Machine," Michael Mann's new biopic "Ferrari" follows the famous Italian car maker through a significant four-month portion of his life wherein his wife Laura (Penélope Cruz) learns about a secret mistress (Shailene Woodley) and son that he had been hiding for years. His company is also on the brink of bankruptcy and a Ferrari vehicle will have to win the 1957 Mille Miglia, a notable Italian car race, to put the company back on the map. In Mann's usual style, "Ferrari" is terse and distant, and the title character, played by Adam Driver, comes across as aloof and robotic; it's hard to imagine this man being passionate enough to maintain one marriage, let alone an entire secret secondary family.
Mann could have made "Ferrari" into a more traditional biopic that followed its subject from birth to...

Major spoilers for "Expend4bles" follow.
Ever since "The Expendables" was released in 2010, the identity and tone of the franchise has been heavily in question. That first film seemed to want to have things both ways, presenting the trials and tribulations of the (very fictional) titular team of mercenaries while metatextually commenting on (and piggybacking off of) the action stars playing them. Put another way, it's as if the crossover formula seen in Marvel's "The Avengers" franchise was reversed: the coming together of the film's stars are the big draw, while the characters are (at least initially) not well known.
While 2012's "The Expendables 2" leaned far more into the meta aspects of people like Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris showing up in the same film, 2014's "The Expendables 3" attempted to find a similar balance to the first film, establishing its characters in their own right while still...

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ death last Thursday on the set of Rust is the latest in a long list of camera crew members who have been killed on the job, making camera work far and away the most dangerous work in Hollywood, more deadly than even stunts.
In the last 10 years, four members of camera teams have been killed on the set in the US – twice the number of stunt fatalities.
Camera crews work directly in front of the action, with nothing but their cameras between them and a speeding car, train or bullet. They’ve been killed in airplane and helicopter crashes; washed overboard and drowned in the ocean; struck and killed by a runaway stunt car; and crushed to death in a camera truck rollover.

Ever since Jimmy McGill’s girlfriend Kim Wexler, played by Rhea Seehorn, was in a car accident a few seasons ago on AMC/Sony TV’s Better Call Saul, we’ve had the worst thoughts about her character, and that’s likely because she never shows up in the mothership series Breaking Bad.

Another month, another smattering of new Netflix titles to sift through. And it seems the online streamer is kicking off 2020 with a host of juicy horror movies and TV shows.
First thing’s first: there’s a number of big-name titles leaving the service next month, including Panic Room, Grease, American Pyscho, and the Spartacus series. That’s disappointing, to be sure, but among the January 2020 titles are news installments of Grace and Frankie and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, along with all three Lord of the Rings movies and the Kill Bill films. And it doesn’t stop there.
We’ve compiled the full list below, but a special mention must go to two particularly exciting horror additions: Sam Raimi classic The Evil Dead and Tremors.
Jan. 1
Ghost Stories (Netflix Film): Short films from Indian directors behind “Bombay Talkies” and “Lust Stories.”

[Editor’s Note: The following review of “Doctor Who” Season 10, Episode 1, “The Pilot,” contains spoilers.]
The Rundown
Finally, finally! After a year without a proper season, “Doctor Who” returned and felt familiar and comfortable, no mean feat when introducing a new companion. The episode lulled viewers and Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) into complacency first by setting much of the early action at St. Luke’s University in Bristol, before shifting to the more spectacular aspects of the Whoniverse we all know and love. Overall, the premiere did well to set up a rapport between Twelve and Bill, while teasing out a few story arcs to come.

Here Be Monsters
Among the pantheon of Whovian monsters and aliens, the creature we met wasn’t exciting nor even threatening so much as misunderstood. We don’t even have a name for the liquefied, sentient shape-shifting, time-traveling goo that appeared first as a puddle which incorrectly reflected a person’s image.

It’s hard to believe that after 15 years we’ll be coming to the end of the road with Alice (Milla Jovovich) and the Umbrella Corporation in Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which is being released by Screen Gems this weekend in theaters nationwide.
At the recent press day, Daily Dead caught up with several of The Final Chapter’s co-stars, including the returning Ali Larter (who reprises her role as Claire Redfield) and two franchise newbies, William Levy and Eoin Macken. Larter discussed being a part of the Resident Evil universe for ten years now, what attracted her to the role of Claire in the first place, and how much she has enjoyed being part of a female-led film series while working with Jovovich over the years.

We’ve taken a pen to the UK Christmas TV and radio schedules and circled the shows we’re looking forward to. Add yours below!
Amid the cosy repeats, big movies and inescapable cranberry-stuffed cookery shows on TV this month are a few original gems. Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s Inside No. 9 festive special The Devil Of Christmas (Tuesday the 27th of December, 10pm, BBC Two) is top of our must-watch list. Hot on its heels is Yonderland’s family friendly Yonder Yuletide (Saturday the 24th of December, 6.30pm, Sky One). Another for families on Sky is the Christmas Day Jasper Fforde adaptation The Last Dragonslayer, while Channel 4 has the non-festive-but-essential-for-fans-of smart-sci-fi Humans series two finale (Sunday the 18th of December, 9pm).

If you’re asking why we need another found footage movie – let alone another sequel to The Blair Witch Project – then you don’t watch enough horror movies. The reality is simple. If it wasn’t now, then it’d happen sometime in the future. And if you’re complaining that Blair Witch doesn’t do anything “different,” well then you Certainly don’t watch enough found footage schlock, because if you sifted through the same handy-cam trash I do on a monthly – nay, Weekly – basis, you’d be thanking Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett, not questioning their surprise horror sequel.
James Allen McCune stars as the brother to The Blair Witch Projects‘s Heather Donahue – also named James – who believes his long-lost sister is still alive after an ominous YouTube clip surfaces. Making all of your nightmares come true … Varèse Sarabande will be releasing A Nightmare On Elm Street 8-cd box set (limited 2000 units) on October 16, 2015.
This deluxe package contains all 8 soundtracks from the original series, over 8 hours of music including almost 3 hours of bonus tracks. New artwork has been commissioned for the set (by artist Shawn Conn, http://atomicdeadguy.com/), and configuring the sleeves together forms a larger piece of art. Before you have any nightmares, please don’t worry … the original Matthew Joseph Peak creations are included in the packaging.
The set comes complete with the trademark knitted Freddy sweater encasing the outer box.
The world was introduced to Wes Craven’s Freddy Krueger (portrayed by Robert Englund) in 1984 with A Nightmare On Elm Street. Krueger was a former child killer seeking revenge against the parents who burned him by haunting the dreams of their teenage children and killing them in their dreams.

Brush up on your forensic jargon and crank the volume on The Who, because it’s nearly time to say goodbye to CSI.
After formally getting cancelled in May, the long-running mothership series will tie up loose ends with a two-hour movie event on Sunday, Sept. 27 (9/8c, CBS), which will involve almost every key player from the past 15 seasons.
Though some fans may be skeptical as to how Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows, et al. will return after being off the show for years, series creator Anthony E. Zuiker is confident that the finale’s plot will allow for a seamless blast from the past.

Alex takes a look back at one of the most, er, not bad films ever made. It's Highlander III. It's better than Highlander II at least...
My introduction to the Highlander franchise came not through the original film, or the sequel, or the surprisingly alright TV series. It instead came from a promo video for Highlander IV: The Final Dimension, the music video of my favourite ever piece of music, James’ Honest Joe.
This is remarkable for several reasons. Firstly, this “song” (if it can be called that) was never a single, and is obscure enough to render a music video superfluous at best. Secondly, the song does not feature in the film (despite being in the credits, I’ve yet to see a version that actually includes it). Finally, at the time there was no Highlander IV, it was, in fact, Highlander III. Yes, this is a film so...

While many critics bashed this one, I was fortunate enough to see it on the big screen, and honestly, I rather enjoyed it. It’s not a terrific film, and not as animalistic as Jeepers Creepers, or as atmospheric as Salva’s, Clownhouse, but it’s creepy in spots, and it’s certainly a break from current trends. Rose McGowan (Scream), Ray Wise (Chillerama), Lauren Vélez (Dexter), Judson Mills (Chill Factor) and Daniel Ross Owens (The Final) star.

The Final was written by Joey Stewart, directed by Jason Kabolati and was one of the "8 Films to Die For" in 2010's After Dark Horrorfest. I've seen a lot of the films in this annual series, and to be honest, most of them so far have left me feeling a little underwhelmed. My expectations for this one were fairly low going in, but I was soon glad that I'd given the film a shot. The Final is by no means a waste of time, and is vastly superior to m…...

Sweatshop, director Stacy Davidson's ode to old violent school slashers, is finally coming to DVD in an unrated North American edition on September 13th, courtesy Screen Media Films.
Synopsis:
In Sweatshop, Charlie and her friends break into an abandoned warehouse to set up the biggest rave they've ever thrown. Little do they know, an enormous, hulking beast lurks in the shadows - filled with rage and brandishing a pulverizing foundry hammer. It isn't long before the kids are in a fight for their lives against this behemoth and his ghoulish minions, who will stop at nothing to snuff them out, one-by-one.
Packed with the latest industrial music by Android Lust and Lucid Dementia, featuring a sexy cast of up-and-coming talent (including Psychic Experiment's Peyton Wetzel and The Final's Julin), Sweatshop is more than just an homage to the slasher films of the 70s and 80s that inspired it.

I liked the idea behind the first season of Throwing Stones and thought it featured a dynamic young cast, but I will be honest, I thought it missed the mark in terms of crafting terror and unease. So that's why I am excited to see Keeyes taking over as he has the know how to take what was missing from season 1 and improve upon that. I think Keeyes has the potential to be the next Wes Craven (Scream) if he can score that breakout hit as he has such a command on what makes a scary film scary. Hopefully, he can bring those skill sets to Throwing Stones and show the world what...
