A beautiful beautiful ending.
shreke200310 May 2009
As a scrubs fan I had built up the ending in my mind, imagining a giant excursion that pulled every aspect we love about scrubs into one episode. My expectations were so high in fact, that I was unsure if i could even watch it, but nonetheless i did.

I sat down and turned on the TV bracing myself for the end, what followed moved me to tears and touched my heart for one last time. It added the drama we all love about scrubs, with the humor, the heartbreak and comedy. Yet at the beginning it felt like any other episode, just your normal fun one but nothing spectacular, I didn't understand. Here I had thought it would be a jam packed adventure, filled to the brim with danger and action. But then half way through when JD says his line about how sometimes we build everything in our mind and the real thing doesn't meet our standards it dawned on me, this was an episode of scrubs.

Not some gigantic crazy finale but the simple sweet ending of an amazing romance. And as JD walked down the hallway of Sacred Heart for the last time and thought about life and everyone he'd touched, about how what really matters is the friends you have and the people you make laugh, i knew the truth. Scrubs had been in my life so long, it had kept me happy when times where blue, when i had nothing to hold on to, and i finally knew what made it so great. Each of the characters you cherish and feel for, you love them and they in turn brighten your life. There aren't words to describe my feelings, so all I can say is scrubs, you were a friend and more when I needed one.

So for that, my sincerest thanks to Bill Laurence, Zach Braff, John C. McGinley, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, Ken Jenkins, Niel Finn aka The Janitor (I don't believe we ever truly learn your name), and the entire cast and crew of all eight seasons of the best comedy show ever born. Take care in whatever path's your lives take you. The future is only as bright as you make it, and perhaps this once, all of our dreams will come true.

A perfect ending.
Roger_Sterling7 May 2009
JD prepares to leave Sacred Heart, but is disappointed when it seems nobody cares.

This final episode of Scrubs (as we know it) is a perfect sendoff to this fantastic show. Most of the guest stars over the past 8 years appear in one touching scene, as JD reminisces on who he met, love, and lost over his 8 years at Sacred Heart. We also see how Dr. Cox truly feels about JD, Carla's goodbye and how JD thought of her as a teacher, Kelso's departure, and we finally hear the Janitor's real name (or do we?).

We also see (as one of JD fantasies of course) what the future MAY hold for his friends and those closest to him, although it's not set in stone. But as JD's final thought says, "Who can tell me that my fantasies won't come true, just this once?"

An astounding season finale, possibly one of the best. BIG thanks and kudos go to Bill Lawrence, the cast and crew, the guest stars, and everyone who made this show what it is. Season 9 has been confirmed, but I highly doubt it will be as good as the last 8, but I hope it will be.

Whenever I Even Think Of This Ending, I Cry Like Crazy
Jackpollins8 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I've always loved Scrubs, so when I heard it was ending, I was so sad. The ending of the finale made it even more sad. Whenever I think of the ending, I cry for hours and hours and hours and hours, and that's what makes it perfect. I am hoping to get season 8 for Christmas because I could watch this beautiful and 100% touching finale over and over and over again. I am, however, disappointed that season 9 has been confirmed. Don't get me wrong, I love Scrubs, and I can't wait to see what it brings to the table next, but that was too good of a series finale to use when a show is not ending. Yes, I am aware that they did not know at the time, I am not blaming them. Anyway, to put it in a nutshell, this is a great two part episode. Go and watch this on this website right now. Also, expect to be dying to see the finale again the moment after it ends, because it is simply the most flawless and sad ending to anything. You could not ask for a more beautiful ending. Anyway, I'm going to stop there because if I go on and on until I can stop talking about how flawless, beautiful, and sad this finale is then I would go on forever because I can go on and on about how this is the best thing I have ever seen, heard, read, bought, or did any action or had any thought about to ever.

A Dream Finale
sameerks8 May 2009
The season finale of Season 8 and possibly the series finale as well was all a scrubs fan could hope, rather dream of.It had all the elements every scrubs episode consists of, JD's ever present goofiness, Dr. Cox's rants, the Janitor acting crazy and JD and turk unable to get enough of each other. The most delightful thing was that all the 7 major characters had their moments as well as some of the minor ones. The last few moments of the episode were memorable and heart warming enough to well up a tear or two and to actually make you wish that this truly was the end to one of the best TV series of all time. Its been a pleasure to watch such a fitting end and all I can hope is that every character finds happiness in the same goofy way JD does in his wonderful dreams. Goodbye.

Wow

Scrubs was a good show, but it had its flaws. Not this finale though. It was just perfect. They managed to make it funny, honest and emotional, without being cheesy.

Scrubs aside it captured beautifully how sometimes in life you have to move on even though you liked the status quo. It's that feeling of a goodbye, mixed with the hopes for the future. (I know that this sounded like one of JD's narration at the end of an episode)

Truly an amazing episode!

Perfection

This is not an exaggeration. It's a perfect ending to a series. It is the best ending that i ever watched. Everything is perfectly balanced and the touchy-feely stuff that i didn't like in earlier seasons is in this episode perfectly placed. And you still get a few laughs out of it.

Note: There is no season 9. This is the series finale.

I miss this show...

Greatest finale for the greatest show ever. I've been rewatching Scrubs and it's so consistent from start to finish... they don't make shows like this anymore. I don't count season 9, it should have been a separate spinoff show.

Not a single Series finale as good as this one.
JBrockerDUDE21 March 2015
This was the most emotional and beautiful series finales in the history of Television. You see and feel and remember how much the characters you first met in the pilot have grown up and how much they went through in their lives to become doctors. The scene where JD is walking through the halls and is imagining every patient and character he had made a relationship with in his time as a doctor at sacred heart is just artistic and poetic. When JD comes to the end of the hallway and we hear the music start, and we can see the reflection of the projection screen he is watching, it just really makes you tear up seeing him react with both sad and happy emotions to what is going to come in the future for his life. The song book of love playing in the background really helps mold the emotional nature of the scene, and we see the empty and quiet parking lot as he finally goes through the doors, giving us a somewhat sad that it's over, but happy feeling for JD at the same time, the janitor outside even bares a striking resemblance to the janitor. No TV show has ever had me this happy, sad, and annoyed in my life and no finale had ever gotten me so emotional. I get teary even thinking about this scene.

BEST FINALE EVER!
Maymay12714 December 2020
I have watched a lot of TV shows. Some finales are sweet (F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and Fraiser), some are mediocre (Big Bang Theory), some are a disaster (How I met your mother). But this - this is the most beautiful ending I have ever seen on a TV show. It makes me cry every time I rewatch the show.

Perfection
kiwiverde9712 November 2016
I could go on and on on why this is the best possible finale for the series they could have ever written, but I won't... It would be too long and philosophical. All the answers you may have are answered, but not in a cheesy 90s way, but in the most humane and sincere way: with hope. I cannot address it more: go see this episode for yourself.

The one thing I can only say is that 8 seasons, 160+ episodes were worth it JUST to see this episode and understand all of its magnitude. After this episode you will never be able to listen to Peter Gabriel without crying again, maybe you won't even feel feelings so strong as the ones at the end of this episode. i am not kidding: I'd take this series over many aspects of real life!

Best TV series I have ever seen and that I'll ever get the pleasure to see: pure and inhumane perfection.

My finale
markq-756547 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Just a phenomenal ending to a great series. This gives you all the closure you need for the series. It gives JD saying all his goodbyes to everyone. It also gives you Dr.Cox saying that JD is one of the best doctors he's ever had to work with. Then JD hugs him. And after that you got a hallway of memories and goodbyes. All the different characters throughout the series. Then you see another one of JD's day dreams with him and Eliot getting married and having a child together. Also JD and Turk children getting together. As well as all the characters staying close with each other through the years. Then JD say what if one time his daydream does come true. And ofc it does. A great ending to a great series.

One of the best finales to a series
Nhao59 April 2019
Even though this isn't the official ending to this amazing series since Season 9 happened, it is still an outstanding episode that I will always remember. This episode is a masterful guide on how to end well a series, it gives closure while keeping the future open for its characters. It's bittersweet and beautiful.

And it conveys a sense of understanding if you have been in a similar situation. Goodbye JD.

Perfect Ending
aaaaaron-frannnnnnnn9 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am sad to admit that I didnt watch this show until just recently. This show hits pretty hard. So many episodes made me cry and laugh just minutes apart. The biggest Pro with the show is that they really leaned into the sad or deep moments. There was rarely moments that were ruined by comedy.

As for this ending, this was the perfect amount of nostalgia (like bringing back some deceased characters), reminding us about the present with some side characters, and of course the ending montage. This montage (which some may call cheesy), was awesome. The song "Book of Love" was actually my wedding song, and it played while JD saw the possible future. Marrying Elliot, continuing memories with Turk, watching his family grow up, and even seeing Dr Cox. All of it was perfect.
