Kenneth Mitchell, best known for his countless roles on Star Trek: Discovery roles, has died.
He was 49.
Mitchell’s family revealed the sad news via social media on Saturday evening.
The actor’s cause of death is from complications from Als.
“With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son and dear friend,” the statement reads in part.
“For five and a half years, Ken faced a series of awful challenges from Als,” the family added.

“And in truest Ken fashion, he managed to rise above each one with grace and commitment, to living a full and joyous life in each moment.

The actor had been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Als) for over five years; a GoFundMe fundraising link was shared to Mitchell’s X account on Sunday, with the actor requesting that any gifts “be directed toward Als research or in support of his children.”

The Canadian indie thriller Blood Honey is coming to Toronto at the Cineplex Yonge-Dundas on September 1st. The following weeks it opens in cinemas for one week runs in Ottawa, Vancouver and Calgary. Our friends at Northern Banner Releasing are handling the release and will bring Jeff Kopas' film to other venues north of the 49 at later dates.
