Funny and Sweet Christmas Movie
elenitsa-195 January 2022
I started watching it with little expectations, but after the first 20 minutes it really managed to engage me fully! Funny characters, nice plot, great morals and all in all, it had all the ingredients for a funny and sweet Christmas movie. It is an excellent choice for Christmas time!

Normal
gianmarcoronconi3 January 2022
A normal Christmas movie with a very banal moral but very sweet even if perhaps at times a bit annoying and not very entertaining. Ultimately, however, the film is great to watch with the family because it is sweet and light.

A Grinch with a Heart
lwmtem26 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A man, Raul, is plucked from his departure for a holiday vacation as far from Christmas as he can find only to be sent to a village where everything is about the Christmas celebration and a plan for the largest "Manger scene" is in the works for a record number of participants. When his car breaks down with the village in sight, he has to walk the snow covered roads to quickly do his audit of the village's major industry. Everyone is cheery and in a celebratory mood and he wants to audit and be done with the town and the holiday. People wanting to make him welcome are at every turn and take his away from his task. He finds one factory woman who is tasked with the "manger" scene and the officials to discuss the special judging event and he explains his childhood failed Christmases and comes to enjoy the situation he finds himself in and even agrees to extend his stay in the village. Sweet on this Manger organizer, Mateo, is the son of the owner, a much older senior. Soon Raul finds that something isn't right and something big hangs over the town and its future. As the two younger men discuss, Mateo dumps Raul from the moving car that he is driving and sends Raul tumbling down the snow covered slope far from the village as the judging is to begin. Raul struggles up to a clearing where a surprise mode of transportation awaits him. Upon his arrival in town, he is thrust into the celebration in a most unusual way and saves the day all due to a Christmas miracle!

Great Christmas movie, good for the moral
matthieupannier27 December 2021
Good discovery of this Spanish movie, perfect for the Christmas season with lots of good simple humour. It's a feel good movie with a nice romantic background.

Continue to do this kind of movies, for 133 minutes we can plunge into the story and that, is the essence of cinema!

One of the better Christmas films I have seen
andredejongh24 December 2021
Really nice film! Very funny, attractive and sweet! Much much better than your average Hallmark-production ...Tamar Novas plays his part really well... he is many times hilariously funny when screaming during his slapstick scenes, while being a bit nerdy with a big wardrobe full of the best cosy jumpers (sweaters) and red snow boots with fur. But at the same time the main character is sweet, masculine and a true romantic lead. '1000 miles (kilometers) from Christmas' also has many references to classic American Christmas films. 10 out of 10 for me. This is how you should make a Christmas film.

Different and Fun, well worth the watch!

As an ex-auditor, I was intrigued by the description of the movie. It was so much fun to watch and so different from the usual Christmas movies. Really enjoyed this, 10 out of 10!

Cute Christmas Movie
astosic28 December 2021
It's somewhat predictable - big city misanthrope, hates Christmas and avoids it every year, gets sent to a remote mountain town to audit a nougat factory (in Spain, nougat called turròn is inextricably tied to Christmas). The town loves Christmas, of course, but he's on a short timeline to make his Caribbean vacation (avoiding spending the holiday with his mother, naturally). Tropes abound, but the cast is very good and carry their roles well (especially the sugary Christmas-loving townsfolk). It's different from the North American Christmas films that obviously inspired its making. Distinctly Spanish in the Christmas details. I am adding it to my holiday viewing roster, for sure.

Comedy
gabriella-7123127 December 2021
If you are nostalgic for the comedy of earlier years you'll enjoy this one. This more physical comedy keeps us surprised and laughing, and thank you to the Spanish for keeping pure comedy and romance in our lives (something the American cinema used to do).

For the cynic Christmas lover
kosmasp7 January 2022
Maybe you know the feeling: on one hand you kind of like Christmas, on the other hand you find it almost disgusting and maybe even unnecessary. A consumer filled chaos, that is quite stressful if you think about it. In the tradition of the Gremlins and one characters hate for Christmas, we have our main character here, who cannot stand Christmas at all. How lovely - and so well played.

Now of course in stark contrast you have many other characters who are deep in love with the idea of Christmas ... and deep in love with each other. Or some of them love someone else - even if that love is not being received or rather given back the same way.

Now I'm not going into details, but you can imagine where this is heading ... still Santa Slays and Reindeers aside (or whereever you'd find them), the movie is a lot of fun ... and it really gives us an idea of how funny a comedy can be, if it has the right ingredients. Very well made and a movie that seems to be for everyone - although comedy always is a special genre, so there is that ...

Perfect Christmas Movie
godo-61 January 2022
An accountant who has been traumatized through Christmas-time experiences as a kid is forced to audit a Christmas-goods factory just before he plans to escape the Christmas season with a trip to Cuba. Funny and sweet, a perfect Christmas movie (Spanish with subtitles)

Glad a friend recommended it
johnsokw1 January 2022
I watched the dubbed version so I could read Spanish subtitles to practice Spanish. I thought the dubbing was way better than the job done for the last dubbed movie I saw. A Christmas movie must accomplish a whole different list of tasks than other comedies, and it performs. (Some may fault it for not having a signature Xmas tune. ) My only complaint: once again a perfectly fine family movie can't be distributed as widely as it deserves because of a few totally unnecessary expletives. Why the heck must this movie have the F word. Even s*&t is unnecessary. Netflix ought to fix this for next season when I hope it returns. The F word alone means I would never show it to my mom.
