A great 2nd series finale

Warning: Spoilers
It's been a great second series of 'Ashes' and it comes to a head in this gripping finale.

I think Keeley Hawes gets a bit of stick for her role here, but for me I believe she does a great job, capturing all the sides to Alex's personality brilliantly.

There are lots of great moments here, with the dark humour helping to balance out the drama. I agree with the previous reviewer - Shaz's big moment was great.

We are left on a huge cliff-hanger. Lets see what happens next!

A totally superb series finale

....and the surrealism continues, back to the 80's caricature to open the episode, this time it's Jackanory, with Gene Hunt in the chair with the book, I found the penultimate episode of this series rather weak, so there are big hopes for the finale. It is a definite return to form, good old fashioned dark humour, Ray gets more then he bargained for when he starts munching on a battered sausage. Alex finally reveals her circumstances to Gene, naturally he thinks she's inventing an insane story, for the first time we get multiple conflicts between the team. A member of the team uncovers a hit, and the team have to take on a team of bent coppers. A fantastic ending with lots of twists and turns, this is a wonderful finale, best episode for a while. And the best scene belongs to Shaz. Overall a very good second series, a few dips, but the top class episodes more then compensate. Here's to Series 3.

Bolly brilliant

A fantastic conclusion to the series which leaves it open for another series (which we know happens). The closing scene is more like something from 1984 than 1982. A tantalising Taurean Colleen catches Hunt's amour but is there more to it than meets the eye?. There have been a couple of weak episodes this series but this makes up for it. Just a shame they didn't play more of OMD at the closing titles.
