I really enjoyed this episode, Series 2 feels like it was made up of 2 halves, the first focusing on Mack, and the second part focusing on Operation Rose. Sadly no 80's TV character at the start of this episode, as we've had for the last few weeks, instead Gene and Alex are chasing someone through the middle of a fancy dress run. Gene grabs the man he's in pursuit of then sees a dead guy floating in the river. The body turns out to be Colin Mitchell. Gene and Alex accidentally end up giving a Neighbourhood watch talk, and it turns out the organiser was Colin's dad. Ray and Chris inform Colin's wife, she turns out to be the very attractive Daisy Haggard, and naturally their behaviour is very funny. The team tangle with local villain Trevor Riley, and after a beating Gene takes the law into his own hands (literally) and a wonderful, if over the top scene occurs at a car crushing plant. More humour, more visions for Alex, dare I say a little more of the same, but all in all a very good episode. It features some really good scenes between Shaz and Chris, as wedding tensions appear.

A loan shark with bite

Warning: Spoilers
T tangled web a loan shark's clients have weaved is the central focus in this strong episode of 'Ashes', a show that has really grown throughout its run, now standing apart from 'Life on Mars'.
With some great one liners from Gene Hunt and co, this episode is full of humour as well as grit.
The whole mystery of the 'rose' story line continues to build too, as Alex remains confident she'll be able to find her own way home.
The second series of the show has been great, and is now building to its finale.

The life of Riley

A bit disappointing for me this one. It seems to be more about the art of camera angles and darker in appearance than many previous outings.
The storyline is a bit stale for me too but you quite often find a weaker episode in a series especially with as many episodes as this.
Hoping for a strong couple of episodes to conclude this series.
