Average Murali Gopy Flick!
s-15144-4888629 September 2022
So I happened to watch this film in theatres and was very hyped for it for multiple reasons. But I was surely dissapointed by the final product which just turned out to be an average flick. So this film has multiple layers but none of them are able to blend properly while some feel forced. The screenplay by Murali Gopy is average at best and nothing else. First half is engaging and you won't feel much lag mainly due to some great performances. Second Half starts with a lagging monologue from Prithviraj but later the film gains pace after sometime. Talking about film's performances, Siddique, Saiju Kurup and Srikant Murali are the standout performers. Prithviraj is great especially in the emotional sequences but some places I felt his dialogue delivery was not convincing. Indrajith was OK in this movie and had nothing much to do. Vijay Babu was just being Vijay Babu. He showcased a good performance in first half but in the second half it felt like artificial acting. Hannah Reji Koshy and Isha Talwar have nothing to do in the movie. The film faults mainly at writing department. I liked the backstory and the emotional depth could be felt but the present timeline could have been much better. The characters were not written and explored properly except Siddique's, Saiju Kurup's and Prithviraj's characters. The film's best momment is it's climax and that's it. The Music by Murali Gopy is forgettable and the Title track is just bad and boring. Cinematography and production values are rich. The direction by Rathish Ambat can be complimented but still the writing let's all of it down. The movie can be seen for it's performances, first half, emotional depth, Climax and the visuals. Its watchable, at least.

Propaganda master Prithviraj
crravikiran7 October 2022
One more movie with a touch of propaganda against Hindus especially higher caste . Actor saiju kuruppu who does a role of a higher caste potty is trolled and name shamed in the movie . Also this movie shows that female entrepreneurs or wife's of male entrepreneurs promote their ventures by "honey" trapping affluent business men . Lol the museum scenes were the biggest joke. Mocked North Indians , Arnab Goswami and showed as Hindus illegally occupying properties of mslims. Lol , it's there reverse that's happening in reality with fundings from Middle East . Only positive in this movie was Indrajit's cameo appearance. Avoid it.

A Revenge which can be Avenged by Death of a Powerless
skmenon199325 August 2022
**** Theerppu ( Verdict) Movie Review ****

Directed by Rathish Ambat , Penned by Murali Gopy starring Prithviraj Sukumaran , Saiju Kurup, Vijay Babu , Isha Talvar, Indrajith Sukumaran , Hannah Reji Koshy

Verdict of the Movie: An average one time watchable movie... 3/5 ⭐

4 friends meet one night accidentally but that meet is not casual, its a final verdict to be given for a past which adversely changed one of the persons life...

Prithviraj playing as Abdullah Marakkar is a person of drunkard and person of instable person which happened due an adverse past...

Abdullah Marakkar happens to meet his school friends where he decides to give the final verdict for the justice denied for so many years...

1st half of the movie was good enough as it just throws a moment of thrill...

2nd half showcases the tough reply of the victim towards his predators of life...

A different screen play approach of Murali Gopy which reminds me of Brahmaram movie of Mohanlal where an ill-fate incident happened in past and Mohanlal is on a way to bring out the truth & Drishyam 2 where at the end it makes the audience convinced that the biggest punishment of Georgekutty is the constant running from the clutches of the law....

Here, in this movie, I would able to observe that shades as in both the above movies Murali Gopy presence was there so an influencing factor while penning for the screenplay will be obvious...

Rathish Ambat direction was noteworthy... Kamar Sambhavam can be bucketed in mass movie whereas as Theerppu is restricted to a single night story but it was very well executed

All the artists have done their role well.. Its not a Prithviraj movie but still he always delivers a stellar performance....

Overall an one time watchable movie with no compulsion of theatrical experience...

Murali Gopy - a traitor to his cause
PimpinAinttEasy19 October 2022
Imagine you are passionate about something. You need to put your best foot forward to make more people take part in your passion/cause. But then you go ahead and write a film that turns people off your cause. Your writing is so cringe inducing that the film does not even survive in the movie halls. Despite the huge star cast. The dialogs were unbearable. Every single character was a caricature. It makes me ill to even write this review. I cannot believe so many talented actors where wasted in a piece of crap like this. And those sets! What were they thinking? Who agreed to produce this project? Murali Gopy is like a traitor to the cause or passion or propaganda he was trying to peddle through this movie. I am not sure why he even bothered. He is like a bad marketing manager trying to sell his product. I cannot think of a worse analogy. This film is that bad. It is a torture. I fell asleep.

Theerppu Movie Review: Murali Gopy Attempts Yet Another Dreary Film On Indian Politics
shefali-5924426 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It might seem rather hypocritical for a film that begins by thanking the brand Porche to lash out at the bourgeoisie over the rest of its running time.

This practice of acknowledging and appreciating those who closely or remotely helped make the movie, came to be a standard in the Malayalam film industry long ago. But in Theerppu, directed by Rathish Ambatt and written by Murali Gopy, the folly of this exercise appears pronounced. It is a film that reduces society into a pool of labels and signs, with a screenplay scooped out of newspaper headlines and opinion pieces, where characters are little more than what their names and surnames represent. A husband and a wife are named Ram and Mythili. A character robbed of his ancestral assets and rightful position is named Abdullah Marakkar. The kitchen, where a marriage's bitter secrets come undone, has a large portrait of Princess Diana. Gandhi and Che Guevara smile from the wall behind the couch from where the film's avenger pronounces his judgements. Was one of the characters named Kalyan as a nod to the textile-jewellery brand Prithviraj endorses? Likely.

Such a hypocrite movie
ashtamiraj1 October 2022
It seems like the creators desperately wants to please a particular set of people. They are behaving like the political parties of kerala.

What did they gain from making such movies?

The story is pathetic. So poorly made and it seems like the writer lost their interest midway and had to somehow finish, wrap up and leave. Can not believe that established and professional actors such as prithviraj has invested time and effort in such flims.

At the end of the film, it left me with a headache.

Waste of 2 and half hours, which never can be undone.

So, please don't make the same mistake and skip it.

An average movie with a good ending
arunkemmanuel-664-20407425 August 2022
Written by murali gopy, this is the second association of Murali gopy with Rathish ambatt. Their previous outing was the critically acclaimed 'Kammara sambhavam'. However this time that combo didn't work. Theerppu is an average flick and not living up to the expectations. The first 1.5 hours of the movie is flat and slow and the last half an hour and ending is pretty decent. The movie reportedly shot in the covid lockdown period is a low budget flick and may be able to get back the making cost and can't expect to do wonders in the box office.

All characters did a decent job including prithviraj. Murali gopi's script lacks pace and thats affecting the movie like how it affected 'Tiyaan'. Movie is a decent one time watch. Recommended only for Prithviraj and Murali Gopi fans.

Didn't like it.
psychhelp26 August 2022
Not a fun film, the film tries portray a certain high class life, and pettiness that some of them carry. The recently found out mollywood predator was a good choice for the character, cause the stories about him and the character in the film seemed so in sync. So the film has a true seed in character development. I don't know if fanboys/girls will attempt to put a philosophical lens to film, and will try to rescue the film by giving a cult status. If they do, I hope no one will fall for it.

Terribly gone wrong.
akhilks-6256428 August 2022
Very own Prithviraj in a recent interview, "If the primary layer of the movie isn't appealing to the audience, there's absolutely no point telling the audience to look into it's multiple deeper layers". Taking that into consideration, with deep disappointment, I'd say that director Blessey did this in 2009!

Only outstanding factor found was Siddique, who slides into the character with utmost ease!

Not a comparison, but this isn't the standard audience would expect from the combo which brought us Kammarasambhavam.

Really don't have any idea why they made such a poor movie. Just to make people proclaim that you deal with scripts that contains contains controversial topics? LOL, c'mon guys! Mallu audience crave way better movies!

Theerppu is yet another mastercraft by Murali Gopy, elegantly made by Rathish Ambat
thepranavbiju30 October 2022
'Theerppu' is certainly NOT everyone's cup of tea.

On the technical side it is a well-shot, well-packaged unconventional revenge drama with an even more unconventional closure.

Coming to the writing, veteran Murali Gopy is going places with his ability to bring the slightest detail in place and deliver some strong political points only a smooth and flawless eye can even spot. I'm a huge fan of "Kammara Sambhavam" and Mollywood's topgrosser "Lucifer", both written by Murali but phenomenally different in genes and genre. This one is yet another mastercraft from the writer.

Filmmaker Rathish Ambat gets things right once again with the help of an experienced crew.

Watch this one on Disney+Hotstar.

Seriously?
drjineesh2 October 2022
Even an acclaimed writer with an ensemble cast cannot get away with trash. The proof is this very movie.

Why Prithviraj would choose to act in such an abysmally plotted script leaves me befuddled.

For a fine actor and one of the flag bearers of Malayalam film industry, to portray that lousy character; lumbering around with his perennial swag and loud mouthing nothings as if they held some deeper meanings only to see everything fall flat when the foolhardy master plan (as if?) is revealed evokes despair as much as astonishment if not a hee-haw as well.

It is indeed trying to sit through this tedious stretch of visuals aimed at but fails incredibly to building a tense narrative; and I'd suggest an evening dine out as a pleasant alternative.

Waste
rahul-2186530 December 2022
If your head has not hurt in a long time and you miss that feeling, watch this movie. The dialogue is third rate, too much virtue signaling, twisting facts and peddling fake narratives. Ideal cocktail for those that want this society to stay ignorant of the real goons - imported extremism and opportunistic communism. The ugliness of the two have been exposed the world over, while these 'filmmakers' rather have us pine for the bloodshed and turbulent times of the 60's. Prithviraj is desperate to stay popular among a certain community, while on social media, he is clearly a joke to them. Someone who will do their bidding, at any price. Rely on your ability, not on cheap politics to stay relevant.

Not that bad
jinufrancis118 September 2023
Tells a biased story about cunning Brahmin betraying innocent Muslim. Look at the first sentence I've written. I can clearly say many gave less rating because of that plot. Everyone becomes separated when it comes to religion. I'm not going into much. Let me discuss about the film. Story was week. Making was great. Acting also was nice. Climax was okay. Too much unwanted scenes which makes audiences to get bored. Lagging, I was time forwarding most of the time. Flashback was too lengthy, which they could've finished within 15 minutes. Although that's it. Making wise I'm satisfied. Highly not recommended but check out if you wish.
