Entertaining and somewhat quirky series
lisen-1754812 September 2021
An excellent entertainment when you want a relaxing evening in the TV-sofa. I particularly like the somewhat surreal feeling of it, which runs through acting, as well as settings, lighting and colours. To be recommended!

Something else

Not the dark moody somewhat realistic Swedish crime series I'm used to and I like the change. It's stylistic in its colors and enjoyable without a lot of sex and blood. A pice of candy. The female protagonist has a weird and uninteresting relationship with her fiancé...

So this wasn't a groundbreaking detective drama. The mystery plot was very light (it kept me interested though).

But I thoroughly enjoyed this two mainactors humor.

Not the best acting seen, but I was entertained.

People seem to miss out

I think its worth watching, only two episodes in yet, but still. Its a special style to it that corresponds well with the Agatha Christie feeling, imo. May not be for everyone, and if u expected a standard criminal show, you need to stop expecting that!

Easily digested entertainment

An interpretation that does not take itself to seriously and neither should the observer. Enjoy it for what it is.

Rheborg does a good job in this series. His female counterpart provides little weight to the series, In addition to forcing you through a pointless and completely uninteresting relationship.

Regardless of the sometimes failing story and questionable characters it is well produced and an entertaining 8 episodes providing something a bit different for being a Swedish crime drama.

I watched for the characters, not the plots.
nothingisforbidden16 October 2022
I watched this via Channel 4 in the UK in 2022, and have had a look at the current reviews, which seem to have been placed by 1) people with some vested interest in the show who give it vapid rave reviews, and 2) people who for some reason have an almost pathological hatred for the show. It's certainly not a 10-star blockbuster, but nor is it a 1-star mega-turkey. To be sure, the writers have absolutely no clue how to actually construct a bona fide mystery plot, and apparently no interest in doing so; their aim is to create quirky characters and spin a certain light, escapist mood, and there they succeed. So, yes, most of the crime plots make no sense, and the "solutions" don't hold water...but...the show is so damned entertaining! I'm going to give it a generous 7 stars, and yes, I would watch a second season.

Awful

Disrespectful to blame Christie for this Meta character. The acting is terrible. As is the script.

Love it!
elinstjerna12 September 2021
It's not a dark thriller if that is what you are expecting, but a great feel-good puzzlemystery. I was a bit sceptical at first but found myself falling in love with Alström and Rheborgs characters the more I saw of them. I think it is funny and interesting at the same time. Can't wait for more episodes in the future!

People need to chill

Agatha Christie books, movies etc are made in a certain way. The jokes, the murders, the murderers. You can't compare this series with another crime series. It's two different worlds.

This is not a bad series, it's just not for everyone.

So much cringe
burrelino17 August 2021
This is so so bad. Bad acting, bad dialogue, bad everything. This is the worst acting I've ever seen from Rheborg, and he is still the best in this ensamble. Everything is exaggerated (and not in the classic Christie manner), totally unreal and seems made for children. Utterly disappointing unfortunately.

I love it! For real!
elenawildenberg10 September 2021
I honestly don't understand why people hate this show? And why is everyone cringing? This is the best Scandinavian murder show I've seen in years! I love murder mysteries and I grew up reading (and watching) Agatha Christie's work. I'm also a huge Bryan Fuller fan and this show has some of the same qualities as "Pushing Daisies". It's not really similar, but it's got something to do with the colors, the sunshine, the somewhat strange dialogue... I can't explain it. But I guess it's this vibe that makes some people compare it to a kids show. I don't see that, but I do see the quirkiness. I hope they make thousands of episodes. I could watch this every day. I love, love, love it!

Entertaining, inspired by Agatha Christie.
tord-112 June 2022
A fairly good manuscript, and excellent actors, all doing their best, in the who-dunnit format.

A bit like New Tricks, lots of laughs, but just a duo solving crimes, as far as I've seen the series.

Intend to follow it!

It's good.
luddeks26 August 2021
I think the plot is quite good and it is a bit exciting. However the camerawork is very amateurish, there's WAY to much soundtrack music and a lot of the lines are trying to much and are cringey.

I love Johan Rheborg, he's the only good actor on the show.

The show has a lot of potential but there are small details here and there in every scene which makes it unconvincing.

Hope the show proves itself better than this in upcoming episodes.

Promising start and catchy characters, but somehow abrupt finalisation
BeneCumb22 February 2024
I do not mind when some famous characters of one country are "implanted in" an environment of another one - I would like to focus on the chemistry between them, performances and cases and if one of those mentioned are less interesting than others it does not necessarily involve that the total outcome is mediocre of even bad.

As Åland is very beautiful place, it easily becomes a supporting character, and the creators of Agatha Christies Hjerson have realised that and used its full potential. True, some crimes may seem too harsh (yet simple) as Åland and safety are synonyms, but the inclusion of ferry and Stockholm do not let the scenes become airy-fairy. Sven Hjerson (Johan Rheborg) and Klara Sandberg (Hana Alström) are definitely odd personalities worth watching, plus there are several supporting characters providing memorable moments.

When the first episodes-cases were accomplished in a dashing and daring manner promising several seasons, the particularly the last case seemed as a hasty roundup with several loose ends (funds dried up? Viewing figures dropped? ...?). Thus, the total Season 1 is rather uneven and not at the same level as e.g. Innan vi dör (same production team). But still - recommended to all fond of peculiar, yet intelligent characters and beautiful sceneries.

A "cozy"mystery. Lighter drama with humor.
irishizan20 December 2023
I just came across this series while looking for Agatha Christie related productions. Ive seen some of the French "Little Murders" & liked it.

Anyway, the only connection this show has to Christie is that the charachter Sven Hjerson is a creation by her fictional novelist Ariadne Oliver.

Im a big fan of "cozy" mysteries. I dont watch anything with dark psychology or graphic images. In addition to Miss Marple & Poirot, I have watched Father Brown, Death in Paradise, Mallorca Files, McDonald & Dodds, Midsomer Murders, New Tricks, My Life is Murder, Chelsea Detective, Harry Wild to name a few :)

If youre a fan of mysteries that are lighter on the drama & have some subtle humor judge give this show a chance. It aired as four 2-part episodes, 45 min each. I liked the 1st story & laughed out loud at parts. But by the 4th story its a bit darker, maybe even a little creepy. In the US, Hjerson seems to only be available on a paid subscription streaming service called "Topic", but you know. . . Keep searching.

Unworthy of using Agatha Christie's name
imoln29 April 2022
For those who have not read many Agatha Christie books, it is worth mentioning that Hjerson is not her character at all. It is just a name for a detective in novels written by a character of Agatha Christie, Ariadne Oliver. Suffice to say, Hjerson is not described nearly as much to deserve to have a series on its own. It is clear that the writers used the title to lure Agatha Christie fans into something that is a complete waste of time. The show is absolutely boring to watch with no exciting twists and the acting is not on a high level. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Complete and utter rubbish
Movie_Reviews16 August 2021
First and foremost: The acting is so bad that it makes one cringe. Secondly: The whole environment feels totally plastic and almost surreal. I have seldom seen such crap, to be honest.

Great actors, great settings, great wardrobe. A well written, easygoing, well shot production that captures the feeling of Christie's characters.

Even Julkalendern is better then this
roccster-719-75972824 August 2021
This is a swedish production 2021 in a nutshell.

It is made by Mary Sues, about Mary Sues, for Mary Sues. But the worst part is the exceptional bad acting/casting, it is worse then watching a kids show. It also seems as if it is written, and executed towards viewers that they must think are idiots.

Not even Johan Rehborg is convincing, or even trying to convince us that he believes in the character he is playing.

This is why all other nordic countries are producing better movies, and TV-series then Sweden. This is what we got?!?

Agatha Christie must be turning in her grave!!

A good chance wasted
tommypeters9 November 2021
Not really fun as a comedy, not really exciting as a crime series, nt really knowing what to be. Results in not really being anything.

When reading beforehand it sounded promising but the series didn't deliver on any account. Lack of exciting Agatha Christie puzzles and full of non-funny jokes results at a rating of 5 - which is terrible for a series.

As it is not Agatha Christie... / And what else to add ???
ezvara31 August 2022
It is just a fantasy. Plus Scandinavian.

I am from Eastern Europe, 60 y.o. OK. Pls Do not think I dont know Monthy Python or Falwtly towers. Or " Allo , Allo .Or Picasso's Adventyr really like 10/1005. Swedish comedy form the 70's. Or more... PIcassoS aDVERTYR for my universty generation is a cult film . I have seen maybe 10- 20 times. PABLO !! U R Henial ! I get you. All my friedns from the same generation we get you. And I would not think for a moment the US gets these. Go backgroud. But it is an Amazon series. Picassos's Advetyrs or Hjerson will not ever reach the right audience i the US. Except: this is not America ! Unless you GET the financies, ls DO continue Hjerson. If U R able to.

"Advantures of Picasso" will always remain in my top 5 comedies ever being aired .And I always try to introduce the film to the younger generation as an Outcast.

Cheers ! - in case you make it public. Eva.

Love Agatha Christie but this is good too
charmainemorgan30 January 2023
Quirky, stylish whodunnit where the main characters are at least as interesting as the plots.

It starts on an elegant cruise ship that puts P&O to shame.

Having never visited Sweden, I found the series provided a cultural & picturesque ride island hopping and the odd trip to Stockholm.

Nice to know there is a light hearted colourful alternative to a Scandinavian crime genre built upon a dark moody and gloomy foundation. Klara's daughter is delightful, reminding me of Alison Dubois' youngest girl in the series 'Medium'.

Thoroughly enjoyed this season and hope there is more to come... Even if the link to Agatha Christie is tenuous at best and those icy dunks made me feel cold just looking at them.
