Mr Anderson was having a nightmare over Betty's mysterious occupation. I wonder what thoughts were going through his mind.

A Little Bird Gets Pushed Out Of Its Nest

Warning: Spoilers
Considering that this prim & proper, 1950's, TV series was set in the small-minded small-town of Springfield, Ohio (60 years ago) -
I am truly shocked that Hixon's Supermarket (where Betty was hired) actually had her dress so sexually provocative (in the low-cut mini-dress of a cocktail waitress) in order to push peaches to their customers (especially since most of the customers seemed to be housewives).
And, speaking about the "formal" that Betty earned for herself - When we finally get to see this "creation" - I would've never believed that it had actually cost Betty nearly $100. It was far too simple and plain for me to be convinced of its high value (again - considering that the year was 1956).

Hixon's Country Market Completely Exploits Betty Anderson

(*Kathy Anderson quote*) - "Daddy, are you a tight-wad?"
The Cinderella Ball is coming up in 2 weeks at the Springfield Country Club.
And Betty Anderson is all thrilled 'cause she's got a date with Don Fredericks (aka. "Donald Duck") and she's already picked out the dress that she asks her father to buy for her.
But, unfortunately, the dress costs $89 and Jim Anderson tells Betty that she'll have to earn the money for herself to pay for it.
Well, the indignant Betty does just that. And, as a result - Things in the Anderson household get turned right upside-down.
